Came to Oakland for a wedding and stayed for the weekend to explore a bit. Drakes was a place I wanted to check out and I'm glad I did. The beers on tap were really good and their pizzas where equally as good. The vibe was really cool and I love how much seating there was. The outside is massive and they also have a cool smaller inside which can still sit a fair amount of people. Staff was super friendly as well. Would I come back.. if I was in the area yes for sure. I have to say, the beer was good, and our waiter was super friendly, but unfortunately the food was pretty horrible. We ordered the veggie pizza, which came out soggy and barely lukewarm. The mac and cheese had the same issue, and the potato salad was extremely bland. What made it even more disappointing was that our waiter specifically recommended both the mac and cheese and potato salad, telling us they were "so great." Not so much, man. Not so much. We also ordered a burger with fries, and the fries were soggy, cold, and honestly looked like they had been sitting around for a while. The restaurant wasn't even that busy and seemed overstaffed. A lot of the staff, both out front and around the kitchen, were standing around talking with each other, so it was frustrating to receive food that wasn't fresh or even properly hot. The service is friendly because you can order with the waiters or waitresses but you can also order via the QR code on each table. They even brought more cups of water unprompted when my colleagues finished their cups of water. I got the summer toast. It had creamy labneh topped with basil, bacon, peaches, and hot honey on a warm crunchy toast. Perfectly savory and sweet balance that was super enjoyable. :) I got a side of chicken which had no flavor, no seasoning, and was so dry it felt like they boiled it then grilled it on top of that. I do not recommend it, even if you brought your fur baby with you. :/ The ambiance is the best thing they have going here though. Food was good. Service was friendly. It's one of those places that if you order from the QR code, they bring out your goodies, but then they don't come back unless you order again. That kind of sucks if you like to have water. Every time you order, you close out and tip. I don't know if that makes much sense. My favorite was the Drake's Press. You pick your fruit and it's served with fresh lime juice. I picked strawberry and it was like a perfect virgin strawberry margarita. I added some soda water to dilute it a little and is was still delicious and refreshing. The summer toast was good. The today was perfect and crunchy. The labneh was cool and creamy and topped with basil, bacon, peaches, mint, and hot honey. Maybe it was too many flavors because the peach didn't come through, but it was tasty. My fella got the fries and he wasn't very impressed. I think he said the sauce over powered everything. We also got the picked vegetables. They were okay. I've been to Drake's multiple times when I used to work nearby in Oakland. We used to come here for happy hours, and my partner wanted to stop by to grab a drink before we headed to San Francisco. We stopped by the place, which was about half packed. It was a windy night, but people were still here to enjoy the environment, the heaters were on, and everyone seemed to be having a great time. We sat at that patio next to the fires and ordered a few beers from their long list. We also grabbed a pizza, as I had not had one in a while, and the chicken Tikka Masala Pizza looked good. I enjoyed my IPA while she enjoyed her Lager, and when the pizza came out, it looked fabulous. We dug into and both agreed it was amazing. We scarfed down that pizza and chugged our beers and had an amazing time as always at Drakes! read more

As out of towners this off the beaten path beer garden was recommended to us by a friend. It was a great place to grab a snack and drink at the end of a long site seeing day. That being said our waiter was a bit strange -- the menu said to ask about their beer selection and he said he wouldn't list them for us. Leavinf us fo figure out we should go inside and look. I've hosted several events at Drake's Brewery and have spent thousands of dollars there over time, which makes my most recent experience especially disappointing. At my latest event, a waiter accepted open orders from attendees without getting authorization from me, even though I was the event organizer and the person responsible for payment. In a subsequent email exchange, Drake's acknowledged that this was not their normal protocol and agreed to refund the amount I was overcharged. The problem came when it was time to actually issue the refund. The manager insisted that Chase first had to release the chargeback. Chase did so, and I provided documentation showing that the temporary credit Chase had given me was reversed and the charge was back on my account. Despite that, Drake's still refused to issue the refund they had already agreed in writing that I was owed, continuing to point to Chase as the reason. If there was still an issue between Drake's and Chase, that should have been handled directly between the merchant and the bank. It should not have resulted in Drake's continuing to hold money they had already acknowledged I was overcharged. After hosting multiple events there and spending thousands of dollars with the business, I expected far better customer service and accountability. The way this was handled was incredibly frustrating and has completely changed my opinion of Drake's. One star. read more

What I enjoy the most about Drake's Dealership is the semi-outdoor seating arrangement. This setting provides a cozy environment that is perfect for a group of people to chat, laugh, and enjoy each other's company. Even during the cold nights or season, the fireplace is enough to keep the warmth flow of air all while still enjoying the outdoorsy vibes. Their food is very solid. Lomo saltado was delicious. Elote pizza was flavorful. And the brussel sprouts were my favorite - crunchy, salty, mouth-watering. Customer service is here is always great. The staff are so friendly and attentive. The only con is that they do not serve cocktails because they do not carry that license (yet), but their ciders are pretty good enough for me. read more

Thank goodness for warm weather returning. This is one of my goto locations for lunch. The personal pizza deal with a $2 half pint is wonderful. We love sitting outdoors in the patio. There is a variety of seating available, want shade, want sun, it's all available. It is a relaxing oasis in Oakland's downtown. Service is great. You can either order online or they can take the order in person and keep an open tab if that is what you prefer. Drake's is a brewery with a cool vibe integrated into a neat little neighborhood hub with an adjacent ice cream pop-up & barber shop. Pretty good pub-style fare on the menu with above-average eats. Staff was very friendly but we had to wait for quite a while to get served despite it not being particularly busy. To be fair, that is probably a function of the business steering customers to order themselves online via a QR code on a virtual menu or app. That is not an indictment of the staff, but rather an impersonal decision by management or ownership that frankly makes it more complicated & time consuming to customers. It's more expedient & straightforward to just order the old fashioned way from a server & employs people. I like Drake's. It's a super easy place to meet with a big group (individual tabs). The food is usually good. I just wrote this review to flag this weird portion of pickled veggies. It's an $8 menu item under bites. It was overwhelmingly onions, a couple pickled cucumbers, and some mini julienne sweet peppers (that were sour). How does one even eat this?? Drake's Dealership absolutely nails it. The indoor design is stylish and welcoming, and the cozy beer garden in the center is the kind of space that makes you want to stay longer than planned. It feels lively without being overwhelming, well thought out and executed. Big practical plus: they have gated parking and they validate the ticket. That alone removes a lot of Oakland stress. Service was outstanding and lightning fast. Multiple staff members delivered our food in under 10 minutes from ordering, which is impressive for a place this busy. The beer selection is excellent - fresh, well-curated, and there's something for every taste. The finger food menu is done right. Everything we tried was solid and satisfying, no weak spots to call out, well, nothing stood out, which honestly says a lot for the place it is. Came here on a gloomy Sunday. We did street parking which was free - they do have a lot which is paid and can be validated at Drake's to get a discount. We were seated quickly and opted to sit outdoors and near one of their fires which was perfect given how cold it was. Ordering was easy as there is a QR code ro olace and pay for your order. They didn't have too many gluten free options but I ended up going with the butternut squash tostada and it was delicious! The portion was definitely on the smaller side but I would order it again. I've been here once before, but I wasn't into writing reviews for Yelp as I am now. I came in on a Friday around 5pm. There were still plenty of tables and there wasn't a wait. We sat down, ordering is a QR code, where you are prompted to pay and tip before you've had service. I'm not sure if there was an option to pay later, but we paid right away. Luckily the service matched our tip. Food and drinks came quickly, one of the beers we ordered was out, so my sister opted for another beer, that one didn't come out until half way through the meal. We were a little disappointed in that. For food, we ordered the spicy fries, the butter chicken pizza, and the Joey add pepperoni. The fries were just average, a little soggy for me, but the table enjoyed them. The butter chicken was really good, the crust was crispy, overall really good, I'd order it again. The Joey with pepperoni was my favorite, the garlic sauce mixed with all the flavors, it was a hit. This was my sister's first experience dining in downtown Oakland, we are happy we chose this place. The beautiful patio with the outdoor lights really sets the mood for a relaxing meal. Pair that with some ice cream on the way out and you can't go wrong. read more

The service was great, especially considering how many of us there were. Our server was attentive, patient, and got all of our orders right without a hitch. The Butter Chicken Pizza was a tasty and filling portion. The Mac n' Cheese, however, was pretty mediocre and lacked the rich, cheesy flavor you'd hope for. The Garlic Fries were okay but not memorable. We were able to split the pizza and mac and cheese between two people and were both very full. I also tried the Guava Cider. While it had a pretty high alcohol content, I didn't taste any guava flavor at all, which was a little disappointing. I visited Oakland this past weekend and met up with a friend here after not coming here since moving a few years back. I love Drake's because it's family friendly l, has a wonderful beer rotation and amazing pizza! Our servers were knowledgeable and friendly and very quick. I really love the expansive menu. There is a Mediterranean/ middle eastern influence on the non-pizza items and everything tasted fantastic! Pretty nice experience! We went there for a graduation dinner and were glad to have made reservations before hand. They have a HUGE space with all kinds kf different seating options for you ranging from outdoor to indoor with fire pits to keep nice and cozy. They have a wide rangibg menu and have tons of beer on tap. We got the brussel sprouts, lentil burger, shrimp pasta, tabdoori chicken pizza and fries, mac n cheese and all the food was a smash hit. The portions were pretty good size for sharing as well. All the food was absolutely delicious. The service was kinda haphazard since they indicated us to order through the qr code but the. Came in person to wrtie it down. Howeever the food came out quick. The only issue is the parking. The Brussels sprouts might have been the best bite of the night! The West Thai'd Burger was unique. The housemade pickles were totally disappointing. It was a small bowl for $8 and it was just vaguely vinegary vegetables. The chili crisp ranch was also a let down. At least it was a very large portion for $1.50 and definitely big enough to share with the table! My cocktail was refreshing and juicy, albeit not very strong.
