But let me tell you they have a new and improved facility, but the wonderful learning criteria is still state of the art experience. This school has been in existence since 1966 that is longer than I have been alive. When you see teachers that love what they do and retire and return speaks volumes. I had a fantastic visit with the old and new teachers. My granddaughter will be going to the pre k school in August and I will return as a volunteer to give back to the community. The administration has always been very biased, but I never thought I would see it at this level. As an immigrant, none of my family members live in Texas. Daycare has been my point of care for my children, so I can go to work to support them. Little Explorers Infant Academy has been a blessing for me and my family.... Here's what I think: Health and Safety: Ms. Deana and her administrative team have implemented many policies and procedures to ensure that children are safe, secure, and able to learn in a conducive environment. I am happy that I have barely had to stay home due to my children's illness from childcare. If my children pick up a common cold or anything that needs immediate attention, I will not send them to the daycare to ensure I follow the rules to keep other children safe from illnesses. We must do our part as parents. They will return after feeling better or following the protocols in place. Teachers: I can only speak from the experience of the teachers I have had. Ms. Celia is simply outstanding! My son loves her to the moon and back....and he is only 1. He has been with Ms. Celia since he was two months old, and he knows her and positively reacts to her. She is warm and motherly and makes me feel safe with him in her care. My sweet girl has been at Little Explorers since she was five months old; she will be 3 in November. She has had some great teachers, Ms. Dorothy, Ms. Rosie, Alejandra, etc. These are just a few that I can recall at the moment. Class: The small classes make classroom management, teaching, germ control, and learning engagement easier. I have visited a few other daycares that would have been a more leisurely, shorter commute to work, but they do not compare or have the standards set from what I have seen at Little Explorers! So my commute to work is longer, but I know that my children are around people trained and vetted to work in this facility. The administrative team: Ms. Deana, Ms. Stephanie, and Ms. Angie are a terrific trio of women who try their best to ensure that the kids have a holistic experience in their growth and development. The teachers regularly keep me updated on what she's doing and learning through messages and pictures. The director said there was no food left so I left to get my son breakfast because they expected him to sit at the table with other children and watch them eat. I asked the director, and two teachers if any class had food. They all said no. When I return, the director told me to sit at the infant 2 table which is low. My son was uncomfortable with his knees touching the table and I was on the floor. When I voiced my concerns, I told the director it's her job to problem solve. She could have offered Apple Sauce which comes from a can. She did not offer it. The Assistant Director does a better job as far as caring for the children and problem solving.

A certain snotty school pretty much passed on us because of my child's needs and I was forced to accept that we might need a "special" school. Sad and nervous, I set up an appointment for a parent tour the next day. Whether we get in or not, I can honestly give them five stars for the work they are doing. Where we've never felt like we fit in, there was a school where we could. This school is K-8 and just off of Montrose at Chelsea. Their goal appears to be to give children the ability to learn and develop skills in a safe environment with the intention of getting the kids back mainstreamed. It was crystal clear immediately that these people have the best intentions and the knowledge to fulfill those intentions well. This place is not cheap by any stretch of the imagination, but it is clear where the tuition goes. The ratio of teachers to kids is incredibly low and the children and staff alike seem happy. Ah, I forgot what that looked like. Best of all, the school was filled with kids just like mine. He was very relieved to finally be in the class and not stick out like a sore thumb. I don't know whether we'll be here in the fall, but I would highly recommend Joy to any parent whose child's needs aren't being met in a classroom setting due to ADHD, Tourettes, Autimism or the like. It's evident that the academy is not big on tidiness and the children areas were not sanitized the way they should be. An infant in a new environment needs care, reassurance, and attention--not to be ignored and forced to "cry it out." That alone was disturbing. The Cuban lady and the Ms Vivi in the infant room are horrible. What's even worse is the clear neglect. My child was left in a wet and dirty diaper for over THREE HOURS, which resulted in a diaper rash. That is not just careless--it is neglect. No licensed daycare should ever allow this to happen. This kind of behavior is something that should be reported to the proper authorities. On top of the poor care, the management is dishonest. (Owner and director Arlene) I was charged $150 for a registration fee after being told it would be waived. They later promised a refund, but of course, it was never returned. We only attended for one and a half days, yet they still kept the money. Between the neglect, lack of basic infant care, and outright lying about fees, this place has shown it CANNOT be trusted. I would NEVER recommend this daycare to any parent. If you care about your child's safety, comfort, and well-being, stay far away!!
