While the tile work turned out nicely, we had significant concerns about their knowledge of basic construction, plumbing, and building-code requirements. Two drains were initially installed using flexible accordion tubing and improper trap configurations. When we raised the issue, the contractor admitted they sometimes improperly install drains, stating that "usually no one cares." They initially proposed an S-trap, which is also not to code. To their credit, they ultimately corrected the plumbing at no additional cost. The framing was another major concern. Azores planned to cut through wall studs for recessed mirrors and niches without properly addressing the structural framing. The contractor admitted they were unfamiliar with the applicable building codes, and we ultimately had to properly frame two of the mirrors ourselves. We also have remaining issues we are addressing ourselves, including a shower handle that came off, a broken outlet that no longer fits properly, drywall damage around another outlet and paint around a fixture they replaced. I just did not expect to have to do this much myself. I'm not sure what value this company actually brought. Communication and oversight were also a concern. Azores was readily available during the first four weeks but became nearly nonexistent during the second four weeks, when many of these issues arose. We were also repeatedly contacted about our low-star review. We found it disappointing that so much attention was given to the review rather than ensuring the work on our home was completed correctly. I also seriously hope they will just leave us alone now. The tile looks nice, but a good finish does not make up for inadequate trade knowledge, planning, and oversight. I recommend that homeowners carefully evaluate Azores' construction expertise before hiring them.

I contacted Jon in an emergency and he worked me into his schedule. Jon is a perfectionist and did an awesome job. He shielded the kitchen from the rest of the house and put in a HEPA filter to keep dust from the demo from spreading through the whole house. He completely covered all the counters, cabinets, and appliances so they would not get dusty or damaged. The backsplash came out looking fantastic and came in at a cost comparable to the other company even though Jon worked into the evenings. INSTALLATION / CREW My wife was representing us at our home and keeping her keen eye on things. She was especially pleased, and as a former corporate interior designer, she knows where companies/contractors will short cut installs. According to her, they did everything right. We put in vinyl flooring throughout the entire home except the master bathroom (we have pets; i have bad allergies) and it looks gorgeous. Because our house was completely empty, they were able to finish our 2,400 sq ft home in 3 days. Might be longer if you have furniture. The crew was led by a man named Elly (sp?) and he and the guys were very respectful of our home and took care to make sure things were clean after every day. They took away all the refuse from the demo and took away boxes and other misc sundries after each work day. Siegfried arranged the plumber whose prices were competitive with market rate. There was an accident (small hole in wall) while moving a piece of heavy furniture but Siegfried decided to take care of it on his own dime. Wow, we were impressed!
