This shop is amazing. It has by far the widest selection of vintageware I have found it so far in the Raleigh area. And I say this as someone who has been to many a thrift shop, as well as a couple of the other vintage doors that show up on Yelp in the Research Triangle area. On this occasion I was in dire need of a dress to wear for a mehndi social event and was looking for something very much in alignment to a beautiful multi-colored number I had rented from Rent the Runway last summer. In hindsight, I should have bought that dress when I had a chance, but that's the thing about hindsight. . . Anyways, Dress proved to be a really fun browsing experience. The store is large and the racks are full and generally assorted by color, which really helps when you're looking for something specific. I tried on two items. One: a multicolored tunic style dress and 2: a really cute romper with some lace appliques. Neither of them got me super excited, so I will keep up my search for the dress that got away. Meanwhile I was pleased to find that Dress also has a healthy selection of well-made jewelry, as well as designer shoes for perusal. I may have struck out this time but this shop is definitely going into my rotation. This Brooklyn girl is definitely starved for some fun fashion finds. read more

This was another location that came up when I was compiling a list of consignment and resale shops in the Durham, Raleigh, and Chapel Hill area for a day trip. It is the same plaza as Whole Foods - there shouldn't be too much trouble finding parking. I was greeted warmly by the gal working there that day, but she left me to shop on my own. (Fine with me.) Racks are marked with sizes and categories. Pricing is fair and I did see a lot of clothing with original tags or in unworn condition for sale. Brands I saw included Balenciaga, Celine, Chanel, and Saint Laurent. While I was hunting for a pair of leather pants to turn into shorts or an existing pair of leather shorts, I found a pair of Chloe ballet flats that resembled toe shoes. I had seen these online, but missed out on them during their initial release. The flats happened to be my size and they were a great price! I ended up purchasing them for work and everyday wear. The girl wrapped them up nicely in a bag and thanked me for visiting their shop. She shared they try to post new items on their social media, as well as any deals or promotions going on. Service was pretty horrible. Walked in to grab a few work outfits and some gifts. Workers were walking in and all of them get greeted nicely and not one person said hello to me or welcomed me in. The selection wasn't great either, not sure why they all seem to feel above greeting the only customer in their store. It made me not want to buy a single thing and I just walked out. I dropped $500 here today, and it was worth every penny. I can't believe it's taken me so long to visit Dress's new location! It's so spacious and neatly organized, compared to the last spot, and it's even more convenient for me to get to. I love the big chic lights suspended from the ceiling, and the private, spacious dressing rooms. They've done a great job color coordinating, and sizing; so it's very easy to hone in on what you're looking for. The front racks are brand new items and jewelry. Followed by blouses, sweaters, dresses, jeans, and outerwear. There are also racks dedicated to blazers and the little black dress. The selection was fantastic (although very few jeans), and I thought the labels and gently-used quality of the garments was even improved from the last space. My haul included: Never-before-worn DV by Dolce Vita suede boots Hardly worn Toms wedges Alice & Olivia sweater wrap dress BCBG fitted dress with chiffon top Diane von Furstenberg wrap dress Tarte long-sleeve pullover Ann Taylor sweater I did notice the prices are higher than what I see at Fifi's, for comparable brands. In particular, the DVF was priced at $143, which is about $50 steeper than I've seen elsewhere. (Had to have it anyway; fits like a glove!) But Pam is doing an excellent job curating a collection that is mostly of true like-new quality. I also love how the FB page is kept updated with new inventory and looks. I kept seeing many 5 star "glowing" non-descript three line reviews for Dress. Being the glass half empty conspiracy theorist that I am, I suspected these reviews were plants, fakes, fabrications... the product of internet viral marketing by intern or friend. Thankfully Christina G reviewed and mentioned some great designers - all was well again, meaning at least I could give Dress an objective shot. I didn't buy anything at Dress this go around unfortunately, but they did have some good pieces and designers. On this trip, I spied Nanette Lapore, Trina Turk, Michael Kors, BCBG Max Azria, Lilly Pulitzer, and Ella Moss - not too shabby . The shop is setup by piece type and then by color. They've recently just expanded so the shop was pretty spacious. In the future I'll hit up Dress and Revolver in the same shopping trip to satisfy my designer consignment store needs and since they are so close (like literally one block apart on the same street). read more

I stopped in after seeing a rack of clothes on the sidewalk to see what might be inside. The sales lady helped me understand the set up. She explained that some of the store is new clothing, some high end consignment, and some is close out from local boutiques. I lucked out and found some closeout local boutique clothes that I loved. The staff were so so nice. They have a lot of new accessories, as well. For a small little boutique, there's a lot going on! And not in a bad way. I stop a couple times a month to check their inventory when I'm at Whole Foods... I've lucked out a few times! read more

So happy to finally find a quality consignment shop in the Triangle area! Pam was very helpful showing me the layout of the store as well as spotting items that were in my size. I ended up getting a Trina Turk suit skirt set ($175) and a pair of vintage black pumps with a pop of pink ($50). Both items were barely, if ever, worn. I had to stop there because of the good old budget, but there were plenty of other items I liked. Labels included Lilly Pulitzer, Burberry, Train Turk (obv), Tibi, Banana Republic, Marc Jacobs, Chloe, etc. As you can tell, there is a wide range of brandnames at all different price points and sizes. I had no trouble finding items in my size. Pam knows her inventory very well and can help pick out items. Parking is a little difficult with the most accessible spots being metered parallel spots, but I'm definitely going back. There's a 10% discount for all summer items. I have not been consignment store shopping in a while, but I knew that "dress" was somewhere I wanted to check out soon. I am soo glad that I did, and that Pam and Katie were so helpful, nice, and willing to let my hubby camp out in front of the a/c unit! My haul included a less than $25 Ella Moss dress, a $30 Luxe dress, and a pair of Hudson jeans for $45. All of the items looked brand new, some that I tried on even had the original tags attached! I loved searching through the color coordinated racks and finding my size easily in most things, and some dresses available in multiple sizes. I will definitely go back to "dress" for more jeans, dresses, purses, tops, jewelry, shoes, etc! read more

I FINALLY made it to Dress yesterday while stopping at the Whole Foods next door. Raleigh has several upscale consignment shops in the area but there are a few things that make this one particularly special in my mind. First - it's not just consignment. The front half of the store is devoted to new merchandise all at under the $100 price point. They've sectioned out the clothing by color, which is very helpful! Second - you should 'like' them on facebook because they upload pics of their new merchandise almost daily...super helpful. They're even working on a website so that you can order any of the new items online! The back half of the store is devoted to consignment, however it's mostly all designer - you're not going to find a run of the mill type of item here. With the exclusivity of these high end names comes a slightly higher price tag than you may be accustomed to seeing at other consignment shops, but still very reasonable in m opinion. What I noticed however is that all of the 'used' items are very lightly used....some items still have the original price tag on it. I particularly like that they have their jeans hung - in order of size. Other places I've been to have them folded on tables and it makes it more difficult to quickly browse the options without making a mess. Here it's very quick and easy to flip through the racks. I scored a pair of William Rast jeans that seriously look brand new for $55! They also have fun shoes, handbags, and jewelry. The staff were very friendly and just the right amount of helpful. At times, I find smaller shops to be to 'micromanaging' on your browsing...almost following you around. This definitely does not happen here thankfully! Wow! Very impressed. I had heard of Dress before, but never been in, so today after a Whole Foods run, I decided to take a quick look around before my lunch break was over. I was promptly greeted upon arrival and asked what I was shopping for. As I was browsing I was offered suggestions and shown some new arrivals, all of which I appreciate greatly. Good customer service is hard to find in the retail world these days. Both women that were working there were very friendly and helpful. The store was well organized and made searching for specifics very easy. I was really impressed by the amount of merchandise they had! Great designer names, plenty of size options and in my opinion, very fair prices! I need to get back here when I have more than 15 minutes to spare... though I have a feeling that could be very dangerous for my wallet! read more

If you are looking for high end luxe labels, and don't have a budget, this is the place for you. Their stuff is gorgeous....just waaaay outside the budget of a 20 something working girl. The jewelry here is very cute and reasonably priced - I picked up 2 clunky necklaces with earrings for $50. Everything else is super high end and therefore $$$$. I don't blame them for their prices, they have great designer stuff that is very gently used. However, the N&O misrepresented them, describing a consignment thrift store and making me think I could find some great deals on designer stuff. The one BCBG dress I could find was priced at $54...I have seen similar at the outlet for $25. I did get a TopShop shirt for $34, a pretty good deal, and a Parker long sleeved button down for $60, which was more than I wanted to spend but too nice looking to pass up. read more

Having consigned things at Dress and purchased things at Dress, I've seen both ends, and have been totally pleased with both. I've been able to clean out my closet and get rid of old pieces that don't work for me anymore but are still in great condition while making enough off those to pick up some great new pieces for my closet that don't break the bank. I got a beautiful Nanette Lepore lace top that I am still going crazy over months later for right around $40. I get so many compliments on it! I love this store but to avoid getting myself into trouble, I don't go in there as often as I'd like! read more

This place is fantabulous for budget minded fashionistas. I've noticed it near Whole Foods for awhile now, but haven't stopped by until recently. The other reviews have done a great job of explaining how the store is laid out and what they offer. I enjoyed the aesthetics of the store as well. I'll add that the store has more small sizes than large, but I was still surprised to find some larger sized items because most fashion-y oriented places seem to stop at size 10 or 12. So, props to Dress for keeping us bigger gals in mind. I bought two blouses- a consignment Common Thread shell and a new lace/sequin sleeveless top for New Years Eve. read more

I finally stopped in to check out Dress the other day after reading and hearing so much about it. It's a great little shop, with both new and gently used items. I loved how they have everything color coordinated too. The selection is very large with everything from jeans and very casual clothes, coats,shoes, and evening wear. They had several very cute LBDs for very reasonable prices. The shoes all seem to be pricey brand names and some looked like they had never been worn at all. Came here for the first time with my daughter for shopping and the prices are way out of control. The price for a hobo or Rebecca Minkoff purse is more for used then they r for retail in stores. I was greeted straight away when I came in. I love the posh and immaculate look of the store. Found some very high end dresses like Gucci. Some of the prices are definitely in the higher end but still less expensive than paying the full price. They also have tonnes of great selections for sizes and colours. I saw Louis Vuitton travel bag, gorgeous luxe evening gowns, boots with furs, Fendi purse, 25$ and 50$ clearance racks with some great items. I've loved Dress for years, especially Becca's impeccable customer service. My relationship with them ended when I went to their sidewalk sale in North Raleigh recently and the owner thought it would be a good idea to prohibit customers from using the dressing rooms unless they were shopping inside the store. It was a decision so hard to believe that I asked a few times and the poor clerk confirmed that yes, if you were spending less, you could simply hold the garment up to yourself and use the mirror. Came here while in town because I like shopping for bargains and wasn't let down by this shop. It smelled nice, not musty like some lower-end consignment, used clothing stores might. It's a really cute boutique, well laid out, sizes done by color, great accessory selection of jewelry, handbags, shoes, etc. But with all this and nice labels like Bally, Hudson jeans, Trina Turk, Chanel, come pieces usually over $40 each. If you like these higher-end brands, then this is the place for you. If you're used to lower end brands and used clothes under $20, this prob isn't the place for you. We came 10 minutes before closing so I only got a gold colored large coral necklace with earrings for $21 and a cute polyester navy dress with a jeweled fun collar for $38. If they were open longer, I would have done more damage and enjoyed it. :-) read more

It's hard to find contemporary designers in stores around here, but this place has a ton! I'm from the NY/NJ area, many stores do not cater to my style in these parts (no offense). Also, the associates were very helpful and were always quick to help place items in the fitting room for me. Majority of the items were in like new condition, some even with tags. This consignment boutique has become my newest obsession! They carry all the designers that I LOVE and the prices are amazing. Dress has everything from a great cocktail dress to a great pair of jeans. They offer a great selection of handbags and clutches and have recently began carrying a line of jewelry that is so fun and very well priced. I can't say enough good things about this place! I was heading to Whole Foods today when I spotted what I thought was this cute high end consignment shop. When I first walked in I got a generic welcome and that was all. I began to look around. I wasn't offered any assistance but I didn't pay it any mind initially since it was a little busy inside. However, as more customers came in after me they got a warmer greeting, were talked to about sales, and offered assistance. This happened at least 3-4 times since I'd first walked in. I'm never one to pay attention not play the race card but I was the only person if color in the store so it was noticeable! I kept waiting around for them to say something to me and they kept ignoring me. I didn't notice it at first but when new customers would come in after me they would greet them and then offer to help them out or show them around the store but they never extended that offer to me they never asked if I needed help until I was getting ready to leave out the door then someone finally asked if I needed something but I was literally about to leave out the door but before then the whole maybe 15-20 minutes I was walking around the store I was never asked if I needed anything. I even purposely looked lost and confused a few times and there were plenty of available associates they never asked anything they'd look me in the eye and didn't pay me any mind. I guess I would rather have that than to have them following me around like a criminal but either way it didn't feel good especially being the only person of color in the store it just felt really rude and I know it was noticed by other customers because one lady gave me a really sympathetic look because she started to notice it as well it was a really bad feeling... I will NEVER patronize this store and don't recommend it for anyone of color! Shame on you all and your franchise! read more

Such a bummer. I'll start with the positive... walked in and sales associate (young girl from NC state) was lovely. Happily greeted me as I walked in with just a few items to consign (I had called the day before) such as Betsy Johnson dress, Diesel top, BCBG blouse, Rag & Bone skinnies etc... I looked around the store while waiting for Amber (owner? mgr?) to assess my items. Store is great, immaculate with really nice things. And then there was Amber.... It was like the scene from "pretty woman". She didn't look me in the eye, greet me, or smile at me in the least. With rudeness and a scowl, she merely glanced at the pile of clothes, walked away and said, come back for fall. I am absolutely okay with that part except for her complete lack of customer service. As a business owner myself, customer service is highly important to me. I was actually shocked and I am not a sensitive woman. I may have been treated differently if I had been wearing a dress and sandals, however I had just finished cleaning out closets. And I should add, I was the only person in the store at that moment. So, no more Dress for me. I will continue to support Revolve clothing on Glenwood even though it's not so convenient for me. read more
