Book dams and…read moreeagles The Quabbin Visitor Center was started in 1984 and is located on the first floor of the administrative building at the end of Winsor Dam at Quabbin Reservoir. Some fantastic views of the reservoir can be seen at any time of the year. The center has various classes and lectures and serves as an interpretive center and historical resource for information about the four towns that were destroyed while making the huge reservoir. There is always a staff member around that will answer questions about the environment and geological history of the area, the different types of wildlife and of course about the actual building of the dams and reservoir. There will even tell you where the best hiking trails are and where and when to see a bald eagle. There are lots of different stuffed critters to check out that were found already deceased in the area and a very cool little book area where you can buy books and some trinkets. A wonderful little place to check out while you are exploring the reservoir, dams and area. Nice that someone is keeping the history and past of the disincorporated towns still alive.

Wow did I have the best time! I did know about this place until I moved to the area. They have so much going on here. Mtn biking is huger this place with some great trails. When you drive in to the resort, the Aerial Adventure park is visible right away. When I first saw it, it seemed smaller than I expected and I thought we would be done in a flash. Let me assure you, the aerial adventure course is a LOT more complex than it looks and it was fun and challenging for all of us, from teens to older adults. There are two levels to the course - first you do the lower level and then if you want to try the more challenging higher level you move on to that. Both levels are included in your ticket. Each section of the course is unique: some have zip lines, there are some climbing sections to get from one point to another, some have balance activities, and some rely on strength and ingenuity. Everyone wears a harness, so you are always safe (I did end up dangling a few times and was grateful for the harness!). Staff here is awesome and they train you before you go up into the course. The Mountain Coaster is also fun, although when we went around noon on a summer Friday, we had to wait in line for about 45 minutes to get on. I am a scaredy cat when it comes to roller coasters, but I LOVED the Mountain Coaster, where I go to zip down a mountain surrounded by trees and nature, and I could control the speed. I would love to do this again, but would plan to go earlier in the morning to hopefully avoid the crowds.

Called this year and were advised it has changed ownership. The new owner Jack needed to call us back to discuss the trip. We have now called numerous times and sent multiple emails in addition to reaching out of Facebook. Just this morning, we called again to be advised by a person that "jack" has to call us back. She advised she told reminded Jack numerous times.... Sad, as this was a real gem.

They do have a restaurant to order food. It's fast food with pizza, hamburgers, chicken fingers and French fries . They have sodas, hot coffee, hot chocolate. Great Brook was completely satisfactory for my first cross country skiing experience. They didn't…read morehave lessons, but just YouTube a couple instructional videos and you're good to go. Not very many others were there, so it felt like we had the whole park to ourselves. In fact, nobody I've mentioned Great Brook to has ever heard of it, so I guess it's kind of a hidden gem. Maybe it's not popular because of a few drawbacks: -Nowhere near public transportation -Composting nearby can be a little smelly in certain areas -Porta potty type restrooms -Limited food/drink options (just a small snack bar) But all that can be negated by having a wonderful housemate with a car, stopping by the restrooms in town a few minutes away before skiing, and packing your own lunch. I guess you can't quite get away from the smelly compost, but at least it's good for the environment! Plus, the two guys working there were super nice and helpful!

We visited Powder Ridge for our first-ever day of downhill mountain biking, and overall we had a OK…read moreexperience. The rental process was surprisingly easy and efficient. They offer a great selection of bikes, including different wheel sizes (27.5" and 29") as well as full downhill setups, so it was easy to find something that worked for us. While a few of the rental bikes looked a little worn and could have been cleaner, they were perfectly rideable and got us out on the trails without any issues. The lift service was convenient, and the trails themselves were in good condition and well maintained. The biggest area for improvement is helping beginners. Since it was our first time, we asked the lift attendant which trail would be the easiest, but unfortunately he wasn't able to tell us. We also found that the trail map appears to be outdated, and there was only one green (beginner) trail, Lil Bruiser. Better signage, updated maps, and having staff proactively ask if riders are new and recommend appropriate trails would make the experience much more welcoming for first-time visitors. Overall, we enjoyed our day and would come back. With a little more guidance for beginners, Powder Ridge could offer an even better experience for people who are just getting into mountain biking.

My son and I checked out The Haunting at The Ridge, which includes a chairlift ride to the top of the mountain and a 45-minute hike down through haunted trails, pumpkin patches, and zombie lounges. We had a blast. The chairlift was super cool, and the ride up was kinda spooky. While you're on the lift, you can see the trail below. It's downhill, so wear good shoes. The trail was pretty fun, with some jump-scare moments where characters jump out to scare you. At the end, you can grab a bite, chill at the tables, have a drink, and listen to the band. I'd totally go back for the experience.

They provide the snow as long as it's cold enough. Unfortunately they are at the mercy of the weather, so sometimes their other trails beyond the main loop are not in use. As other reviews have mentioned, it does lean towards beginners. For myself I'm looking to cross country ski for maybe a couple of hours at most and I don't go that fast so Weston Ski Track is perfect for me. They offer a range of lessons for both kids and adults and for classic touring and skating styles. I took a classic touring class recently and had a fun time. The day passes are only $13 and you can purchase them ahead online. They also offer rentals. Plenty of parking, very friendly staff, and helpful signs on where to pick up passes and rentals.

The one of the young guys working were sliding down with every person in one of the lanes. There was no organization. The lines were literally to the tree lines. There were multiple accidents. They had no walkies up at the top. They couldn't keep order of the rowdy patrons. Lanes were being closed down, and no organization was kept then either. That said, we got to tube down like 3-4 times in two hours. For the price is absolutely was not worth it. It was a bad experience.

We have been tubing at McIntyre Ski Area for over 4 years. We go in a large group of family and…read morefriends (+/- 30 people). We had a bad experience last year in 2025 with severe overcrowding and a worker being physically and verbally aggressive with teenage members of our party, as well as swearing in front of six year olds. The company responded and gave us passes to come back this year. We went last night, 2/14/26. This was by far our worst experience. By the time we got there for our allotted time, 6-8pm, the hill was overcrowded. There was no tube left for my husband, so he sat out. When you got to the top of the hill, the lines were all the way back to the tree line. It was difficult to navigate to get in line. My brother timed a full cycle of getting in line to getting to the bottom of the hill, and it was 35 minutes, so you could get 3 slides if you were lucky. The rules were inconsistent with the workers. There were only 2 workers that I could see. They let a couple people ride tied together, and others were not allowed to. The hill was over- iced. Due to there not being a worker at the bottom, a grandmother and granddaughter were run over by a tuber, leading to a head and face injury. At one point they closed the last 3 lanes. Kids and adults came flying down, 6 at a time in each lane. No care or concern for safety. My son was stuck at the top while kids and adults cut in front of him to go down. This place has plummeted downhill. This used to be an amazing, family friendly, SAFE tubing experience. Based on the last two years here, I would never recommend this establishment to anyone.
