Really enjoyed the food and atmosphere here. The bar is traditional. Roaring fire, rugby on the…read moretv, and decent ale on offer, including at the time of writing Old Hooky. But we dropped in for food after a long day on the road in the stormy weather. And we were not disappointed. The Shepherds pie was absolutely cracking. Made from leg of lamb rather than mince. It now boasts a wine room just like the Storyteller's, so a sophisticated drinker like me can choose wine just like I do in the supermarket - by the pretty label. The food is along similar lines to Storyteller's, but with a more British flavour, and emphasis on local ingredients.
