There is a courtyard here - perfect for the warmer weather and a restaurant towards the back of the pub. This pub has a very relaxed feel about, and as a result is homely. The food is along similar lines to Storyteller's, but with a more British flavour, and emphasis on local ingredients. The chips...perfect. Light, crisp enough without being burned, but not soggy, just perfect. Perfect amount of salt granules which were very small, but we'll arranged throughout the chips. When you needed salt, it was there, it wasn't just oversalted, overpowering, or left unsalted. It was kind of like a salted caramel, where it wasn't mixed in, it was on top and used exactingly. Wow, this is a ridiculous review over just f & c, but when you're calling something the best, you have to explain why.
