They…read moreweren't responsible for the immediate cleanup, but they had to start with a lot of demolition of the old deck, while preserving the substructure and parts that I wanted to retain. The estimator, Ron, worked with me on the initial plan, which ultimately turned out very well. Our project manager did a good job on coordination of labor and materials, but needed some prompting on communication of work schedules. We arrived at a workable solution. I have specific shout outs for two of the carpenters, Antonio and Hector. They are meticulous craftsmen, and did an amazing job of piecing the deck boards together around the original bench supports that extend through deck into concrete footings. Each support had to be templated and then precisely cut into the pricey 20-foot Trex flooring planks. The results are near perfect, down to matching the faux wood grain on the top of the planks. Antonio did most of the framing on the new barbecue island, which required adapting it to the geometry of the original substructure. It turned out better to than the original that was lost in the fire. It is said that a good contractor is one who shows up to work sober and finishes the job. The team at JM is in a league above that, which is why I would recommend them not just to strangers, but also to my friends.

The service was contracted with the understanding that the work would involve only a steam/deep cleaning and no resurfacing or sanding. The agreed-upon price for this service was $450, which I considered reasonable given the scope of the job. Unfortunately, the quality of the work was severely deficient. Upon completion, the floors appeared incomplete, with visible damage in multiple areas. Specifically, the protective coating was stripped away in patches, and there are at least four sections where the wood itself has been excessively abraded or sanded, resulting in exposed flakes, splinters, and uneven surfaces. In contrast, other portions of the floor showed no evidence of having been cleaned at all. I contacted Floor Pro to inspect the damage and requested a resolution. In response, they proposed to repair the issues by buffing and sealing the entire downstairs floor at a discounted rate of $6,200. This offer raises serious concerns about their business practices, as it appears to escalate a simple cleaning job into a far more extensive and costly repair. I cannot help but question whether the initial damage was intentional, designed to coerce customers into additional, higher-priced services. The report did not state any visible signs of mold, there were no photos and they did not conduct indoor and outdoor air samples -standard practice with honest companies. They did however state that I could file with my insurance company and get a new kitchen. CAUTION: if you have a mold concern do not use a company that does the testing and remediation, it is a conflict of interest. Don't let the word 'mold' scare you, that is their intent, there is mold in every home and most are common molds that we breathe in everyday and are not toxic.

At that point, I was informed that per their policy, they are not required to fix what they broke. They then told me that they would give me a quote for them to fix what they broke. I find that quite ridiculous that I should have to pay for the damage they caused.
