I normally never write bad reviews, but after today's experience, I honestly feel this one is deserved.
Bottle Shop in Kastrup is a store I've visited multiple times since I live right around the corner. Every time I've been there, there has been one specific bald male employee who always seems extremely rude, aggressive, and irritated when speaking to customers. I previously chose to ignore it because he mostly just came across as unfriendly, but this time it genuinely went too far.
I went into the store with one of my close friends because we are soon celebrating our birthdays together -- I'm turning 20 and she is 21 -- and we wanted to look around at larger purchases for the party, since the store is close to both where we live and the venue we were considering renting.
We had only been inside the store for about 2-3 minutes, quietly looking around, before the same employee practically power-walked directly toward us and immediately raised his voice saying: "You're not allowed to be in here if you're not over 18. I need to see ID."
There was no polite tone or normal customer service at all -- just aggression from the very beginning.
The strange part is that I've been in this store many times before without ever being asked for ID just to walk around and look. I've also been there with larger groups of friends before, and nobody has ever said anything about needing ID or having special rules just for browsing the store. Because of that, the situation felt very personal and specifically directed toward us.
My friend offered to show her health card, and I showed my passport because I happened to have it with me. After we calmly handled the situation and showed valid ID, we honestly expected him to simply say "okay" and move on. Instead, he kept acting aggressively and continued making comments like "you already know that" and similar remarks, as if we had done something wrong, even after proving we were old enough.
After that, he also started saying that you need to carry a basket if you walk around the store. This is also something I have never once been told before, and again there were no clear signs or information about it anywhere. It honestly felt like he just kept finding new things to complain about.
The whole situation genuinely felt like he was trying to start a conflict or take his frustrations out on customers for no reason at all. There was absolutely no need for the way he spoke to us, especially after we cooperated and showed ID without any issues.
It was also embarrassing for me to bring my friend there and have her immediately treated with suspicion and spoken down to without any basic respect as a customer. The entire atmosphere became extremely uncomfortable.
The whole experience was embarrassing and frustrating, and it made us feel completely unwelcome as customers.
It's honestly a shame, because we were genuinely considering making a large purchase there for a 20th and 21st birthday celebration, which would have meant spending a significant amount of money in the store. But after this treatment, we will definitely be taking our business elsewhere in the future.
