Destin Imports located a car shop in my home city, contacted them for me, and arranged for my alternator to be replaced again under the warranty. They followed up daily to ensure that it got done correctly and took care of everything for me. The owner called me after a week to say the ticking was coming from the bottom of the car, not the top, and needed new cams/bearings for $3k or it could catastrophically fail. I agreed. The ticking is still there, and it's painfully obvious (they said they test drove it and it was fine). I called five times over the course of two weeks trying to speak to someone about it to find out whether I should bring it back in or not. The manager said I wasn't allowed to speak to a mechanic, but he'd have someone call. No one called. I've maintained this BMW myself since 2018, so I decided to run the diagnostic myself. It ended up being a completely different problem, so I'll be taking it elsewhere to get the repair done. It would have helped me tremendously to know if the cams/bearings were actually out of limits, but they didn't even bother documenting it on the bill. They got $3k out of me, but they lost a customer.
