The facility is woefully under sized and under staffed for the population served. I submitted all the necessary documents on line for a "Real ID", and that application was valid until 30 July. Once I received the email stating the documents were approved, I tried to schedule an appointment online on July 7 and the first available appointment was September third...and my application was only valid until 30 July. I had no choice but to go to the service center and wait in line with everyone else. We arrived 15 minutes before the office opened and the line was wrapped around the building I had to park a 1/2 mile from the building and It took 3 hours to get a license. The staff was great and working very hard, but the volume of clients was overwhelming. When we finally got to the counter, I asked the clerk if today was an unusual day and she stated "it's like this everyday". This is a systemic problem...the facility and staffing levels are not suitable for the population they serve. The department needs to take action!

Yet for some reason still a ten minute wait despite it being empty. The person at the checkin kiosk is nice and helpful. She helps you pick the right prompts at the kiosk. And then they'll text you when it is your turn to see someone. When it was our turn we found the person helping us to be apathetic and not nice at all. Typical DMV. Seemed like she wanted to be anywhere but there. Typed the address wrong (spelled bluegrass "bluegress") as if she couldn't give af. So make sure to check your paperwork. But at least we got in and out quick. Parking is free and in the huge garage. You can enter the hallway leading to their office from the garage.

The line moved pretty quickly for only 2 people working there and within 5 minutes I was at the front. They were not able to offer what I needed (a title in my hands that day) but did give me a map to where I could get an instant re-issue and were extremely nice about the whole thing. Thinking back, I've had to wait, but if you don't go right at 11:50 you can get in and out in a jiffy.. the place can only handle 3 clerks and about 6 people inside, which is a pain sometimes, but for a govt office it moves. One thing to beware of is people putting on their stickers in the parking lot. They're easy to run over and may mess up your finish.

I had a little trouble with the kiosk and a very kind Hispanic lady who works there and walks around and helps people-I didn't catch her name -she was wonderful. The lady at counter 1 named Anita was also fantastic. So kind and patient. Kudos to the Hart lane location and these excellent employees.
