This is my second time coming here in the last few years. So easy, so efficient. Years ago when I got my real ID I brought all my paperwork and waited maybe 15 minutes to be helped and was done within another 15 minutes. Today, I went in for an address change. This was our best experience ever at a DMV. Very efficient and very pleasant staff. The wait room is smallest I've ever seen at a DMV, which I guess is a good indication that the wait isn't going to be too long. We arrived around 9:00 a.m. and were out by 9:30. The one problem with this location is parking. Apparently the Snodgrass Building doesn't have a visitors' parking lot. We paid to park at a nearby hotel. read more

Came in to renew my license, but walked out with a real Id. Jillian was such a great person; knowledgeable, patient and professional. She was the one who suggested getting the real id since I'm already there. Helped me with the needed documentation and was a wealth of knowledge. The employee that helped with the pictures and the verification process was so funny and very friendly; yet very professional and polite ( i sadly don't remember her name) I know she mentioned she is from North Africa when I asked. Wow, I never expected such quick and friendly service at a DMV based on my past encounters at other locations but this was an amazing experience! Typically, the other location I've been to in Antioch has taken over 4 hours in the lobby, just waiting to be called up. This location, although somewhat hidden, is exactly what you want! The staff was very friendly and made it a fun encounter rather than a stressful one. I was getting my driver's license updated and it was a) only $8!! and b) about 5 minutes total in and out. I had created an appointment online prior to going in but event if I hadn't, it was not busy at all, especially for it being around 11 am where the other location would've been an all-day wait! It is somewhat hidden and hard to find so make sure you go down the steps upon arriving and not up to the tall building I added into my review for clarification. I went up and they directed me to the right place. Once finding it, it was a super smooth process. Parking is a bit difficult as there isn't a free lot. However, I found a metered spot right by the entrance which made it easier. Just keep this in mind when planning how early to be for your appointment or time you're planning on going. It may take a few minutes to find parking or walk there. All in all, I was super impressed by this location and will definitely be back next time I need to get something renewed! read more

Literally the slowest, most nonchalant, unprofessional service I've ever experienced. I thought the California DMV was horrible, I'm honestly trying to think of a word more impactful than horrible. I went to the Hart Ln location, there was a line around the building and a lil old lady that should be a Walmart greeter not handling check ins. I'm sure she's a nice woman in her personal life but she couldn't keep up with the demand... There's no way every DMV should be this bad, get it together tennessee. I mean maybe instead of worrying about building a football stadium for a mediocre at best team, maybe I suggest you take my tax dollars and build bigger DMV's instead of having ones that are literal holes in the wall. First off, Zero parking. The parking situation is an absolute joke, you will circle the block for a good 30 minutes before getting lucky and finding a spot. They are so busy, even at opening, that they will rush you into the courthouse lobby and have you stand there because there's no seating and you can't stand in the actual DMV. You will not hear your name or number called from the lobby. Staff is incredibly rude, and one clerk to every thirty people, on a good day. Go elsewhere and wait in the actual business. I've never spent more than 10 minutes in this place & I've been here on at least 3 occasions. This express station makes visiting the DMV actually enjoyable!! If you have all the documents you need and don't want to spend all day getting your license or an ID, I HIGHLY recommend this place!! The crew is always enjoyable and the service is always fast! I was unable to find parking so ended up going to the Hart Lane office in East Nashville. There is a parking garage connected to this building but it is employee ONLY. You have to find street parking which proved incredibly difficult. I never ended up inside this facility but wanted to warn others that parking is tough. read more

Don't even try to go here unless you have lots of time to spend waiting, patience for the rude staff and loud waiting area, and don't mind spending money on expensive parking. Went in on a Friday morning to do a name change after marriage. I was there for over an hour and only 3 people were called ahead of me. By the time I decided to give up on waiting, there were still 20 people ahead of me, so I knew that meant many hours. People around me talked about having been there for 2 1/2-3 hours waiting. Night and day, my friends. Night and day. Since I was changing my name post-wedding, I needed a new DL to match. I was not enthused about returning to the Centennial Blvd location, let me tell you. Imagine my surprise and delight when I realized that you could visit this 'Express location" to take care of name changes and address changes if you already have an in-state license! When I arrived, (to an orderly and quiet waiting room, no less), there were only 7 people in front of me in the line! I was in and out of that place in 20 minutes. I barely had time to fill out my paperwork. AND they have a nifty way to let you change your voter's registration at the same time! Color me impressed! read more

If you are needing to renew your license or change your name after getting married, I urge you to leave the hell that is the Hart Lane or Centennial location and enter the heaven that is the Express Station. Pretty clean except for the weird cricket on the seat next to me, and the staff is incredibly friendly. The woman that serviced me told jokes AND let me approve my new photo! You know I took advantage of that when my first photo was caught mid-blink. I was in and out in about 30-40 minutes. My only complaints would be check in process and I had a bit of trouble finding it. Park closer to 7th Avenue and go DOWN the stairs (address says 3rd floor, but it is in fact in the basement). Once you get there, take a number on the table and a form you fill out at your seat. It is kind of confusing as there are no signs telling you what to do. I felt better that I was not the only confused one. If you are renewing your license, head to the kiosk and fill in your info. Keep in mind that this location is NOT full service. Read online what services they do provide. There were a few people that had to wait and then told they were in the wrong place. No out of staters here. read more

Understaffed. One person dealing with a room full of people. She was lovely and patient but overwhelmed. Finally had to leave when it was clear that the room would not be emptied by closing time. Everyone waiting was frustrated. There has to be a better way. By the way, I ended up there after going to Howard School and discovering that you can not renew unless your driver license has a barcode. So another hour wasted. Also, where to park. Huge building full of servifces and no parking. Nashville is better than this. read more
