Arrival: by Uber, nobody greeted us at the door. There is a ramp to the far left of the door if you have luggage and don't want to climb the 3 steps. Frontdesk: They do their job, nothing more, nothing less. They check you in and give you a key. No information about the hotel, gym, concierge longue, restaurant, nothing. We are Platinum members and she did ask if we wanted points or breakfast, we went for breakfast. That was it, nothing more. We asked for water, they gave it to us. Room: EXCELLENT SLEEP QUALITY, super quiet. We were giving an upgraded room. It was very spacious. You can tell it is getting old. The carpet is very warn, the closet door refused to stay shut, but for a hotel that allows pet, I did not have any allergic reactions. I am severely allergic to pets. Nice King size bed with good pillows. Mini fridge in the room, safe, coffee station, ice bucket, and decent amount of drinking cups. Concierge longue: If you have status there is a decent size lounge. There is a water station for refiling your bottles, coffee station, snacks, and sodas. Breakfast was tolerable. The eggs are powdered and needed hotsauce. The hockey puck sausage was mealy and one bite and I was done. The yogurt had a chalky taste and the fruit was not fresh. I gave up because I remembered that I got a breakfast voucher. Breakfast: Went to the restaurant for breakfast and the young girl said I need a voucher. The front desk did not give me a voucher on check-in, so I went there and a young man helped me. I got my voucher. Took forever to get a seat. No explanation from the staff on how to order, finally I was given a menu. I ordered the eggs benedict. It came to me super fast like less than 10 minutes. Everything was temperature hot and I burned my mouth on the home fries, but they did not taste good. There was so potato taste, but pure salt. The eggs were under cooked and soggy. The execution was off. Housekeeping: she stopped me in the hallway and asked if I wanted my room service or if I just wanted supplies. I found it odd, but I said give me towels, water, and she skipped my room. This hotel gets 4 stars for being so quiet with awesome sleep quality and above average bed and pillows. The service is majorly lacking and the food onsite is not good. I did not even eat my free breakfast on the second day.

This place is a bit far if you're from out of town and want to see downtown sites, but if you don't mind the drive and want a quiet retreat away from the city, this is the place for you.

The public spaces in the hotel accommodated all our needs smoothly whether it was a meeting, breakfast, motor coach access, or a banquet (the rooftop event space was spectacular). The proprietors were accessible and explained their choices in the remodeling without being defensive in any way. Our stay here was one of the highlights of an extended weekend in St. Louis. Would highly recommend. Although the hotel is downtown it is not in the most developed area, but the quality of the operation made everyone attending pleased to have stayed here as opposed to some more expensive cookie cutter options in busier parts of town.

The morning of August 10th, one month later, the day of my scheduled arrival, literally out the door on the way to the airport, I received a call from the Staybridge telling me they had overbooked, that they could not honor my reservation, and had booked a room for me at another hotel some distance away. For context, I'm 78 years old, have had recent back surgery, and there was a 90+ degree heatwave in St. Louis, with occasional and unpredictable rain storms. The Staybridge management didn't care. As a result, I was subjected to hot, miserable walks and Uber fares. If, you're considering a room at the Staybridge, don't bother; reservations mean nothing to them!

Yeah...I can see why this place only has one review before mine. If I could use one word to describe this hotel, it would be: confusing. Why is the front entrance on the side of the building? Why is the road it's located next to a dead end street? Why is the part that looks more like the front entrance locked? Why is the parking garage equipped with gates that don't function? Why did the hotel receptionist's deadpan greeting to guests come across as though she hated her job wanted to off herself? Also, did I mention one of our delivery food orders apparently got stolen? Yup. That happened. We're still not completely sure if it was the GrubHub person who did it, or some other guest in the hotel. But we're fairly certain if there were a requirement to notify the front desk first, it would greatly reduce the chance of theft. And then there's the room itself. It was pretty standard, except....there were no where nearly enough convenience outlets. this is a first for us. Also, there was only one night stand; in between both queen beds. I dunno, man. I've been to a LOT of Marriott hotels in my day. This one has to rank somewhere in the bottom 50%. So, allow me to be THAT guy and offer up my whopping grand total of 2 disappointingly underwhelming rooms with too few power outlets out of 5.
