We booked a suite for a Friday and Saturday night to use for a get ready spot for a wedding. This hotel was recommended by Forest Park Golf Club as part of their Wedding Reception package. Included in the package was one free hotel night for the bride and groom. The suite we booked was in addition to that. Although the suite itself with four separate bedrooms/bathrooms and a common living area and kitchenette was very nice, the customer service was absolutely horrible! My daughter in law worked with Shannon in the sales office to book this. She made multiple phone calls, emails and 2 visits to the hotel prior to the wedding. She was assured everything was ready to go for them. She even separately booked the room for the wedding night for the bride and groom. Two days before the wedding she called to confirm everything and to make sure the rooms in the big suite would be cleaned in between nights because separate set of guests was staying there the second night. When she called two days prior , the hotel did not have the separate reservation for the additional room and did not want to accommodate her request for cleaning even though they were spending $2000. Reluctantly they agreed. When she checked in the day before the wedding, Marcus, waited on her and asked her to step aside while he took other customers behind her. She told him she was kind of in a hurry because she was going to her wedding rehearsal but he didn't seem to care and told her she would have to wait even though she had already waited in line to check in. On the day of the wedding, I went down to check them into their separate room and was told I could not because it was a different name. Even though I had the same last name. I asked them to make an allowance as the bride and groom were on the way to get photos taken and then to the wedding. They refused. I then asked that they clean the suite, change beds and linens. They refused saying housekeeping had gone home. However it was only 3;30pm and I saw a house keeping cart in the hall on our floor. The manager on duty kept refusing. But I insisted. She said he would see what she could do. It did ultimately get refreshed but it was a difficult process. I would not recommend this hotel for these reasons. read more

Great location right across from the foundry. Only one charging station as of this writing. They have valet here so they will park you in garage nearby. Room, breakfast and staff are good. They have a nice indoor pool and a seating area to relax outside. Great location, breakfast you order and they make it for you. Lobby has neat little model of hotel to look at. This is a nice, newer hotel with spacious rooms and friendly staff. The complimentary breakfast and espresso machine were pluses. However, housekeeping was inconsistent. When we arrived, the body wash dispenser was nearly empty, and while they didn't refill it the next day. My children's beds and the sofa bed were never made, even after housekeeping visited the room, and our own bed was left exactly as I had made it. This made me question the thoroughness of the room cleaning. Additionally, the indoor pool is NOT heated, so the water was cold. Overall, it's a pleasant hotel, but housekeeping and pool amenities could use improvement. read more

We utilized Element Hotel for our wedding hotel block and it was great! The largest reason we chose the hotel, other than a great location, was for the Studio Commons space. The common space has (4) separate king guest room connected that my out of town bridal party used. The bridal party used the common space to get ready - it was perfect for us! It has a living room, kitchen, and a large bar height table with tons of outlets that is great for getting ready (and very nice looking for photos!). Robyn helped us coordinate the block and she was very helpful and responsive, and even kept us updated as the block filled up in case we wanted to increase the reservations. The rooms were all very nice and clean, plus the breakfast was healthy, and the bar seemed to be well used by our guests after the wedding! We would recommend Element Hotel! read more

The hotel management is absolutely horrible. My husband and I were booked here through a conference at a local university. The front staff asked for our credit card for "incidental". They then turned around and charged us for the entire stay. On top of that the general manager (female) condescendingly deflects that we take it up with the conference organizers. Rude! I requested for my room to be cleaned later in the day after 5:30pm I saw a worker walking the hall picking up trash and asked if someone could clean my room for me, she worker said the housekeepers were gone for the day she could get me in tomorrow I informed her that I need it clean now I was having a visitor. She didn't look mad or anything she said ok I will clean it myself. The worker came to clean my room very good after words she told me that if I needed anything else to let the Housekeeping Manager Queen know and she will see that I get it I thanked her and asked for her name and she stated My name is Queen. She was the Housekeeping Manager I was surprised that the actual Manager that is in charge of keeping the hotel clean came and clean my room so late in the day and didn't give me a hissy fit or brush me off. I'd give this hotel a solid 4.5 stars. My son wanted to tour St Louis University and other parents including the University recommended Element. The breakfast that was included with our stay was surprisingly nicer than expected. They had a made to order grill where they made you eggs, frittata, or an avocado toast with an egg on top. I'm torn. The hotel is sleek and clean. The rooms are big, clean and comfortable. The TV setup with streaming is very user friendly and easy when compared to other hotels. All of those features are top notch. But there were several cons in addition to the pros. We have two 9 year olds and the vibe was very adult at the hotel. We didn't feel that we were welcome with our children. The upbar on the roof makes hanging out in the lobby in the evening not an option when you have kids. The crowd was not kid friendly. The bar guests were in all of the shared spaces and we didn't get to lounge downstairs like we wanted to because we didn't want to expose our kids to that. The breakfast space needs to be re-thought and managed better. You have two wooden carts with items, a yogurt bar and the coffee bar but everything is mismatched in it's location and it becomes a scavenger hunt to find forks/knives, only a single bottle of syrup for the entire lobby when they are serving pancakes, the butter and cream cheese is 20 ft away from the bread cart on the coffee bar. Guests were coming up to people asking where they found different items. It was a mess. The ordering system for breakfast was first come first serve and signage is not the best, they didn't take names or anything so people were just walking around confused wondering what's going on. The food was great and the offerings were delicious but it isn't worth the anxiety. And the entire time we were eating breakfast we were greeted with the view of the pool with a family swimming with their naked child in the pool. If it wasn't for the attitude of the night crew host I would have given this hotel 5 stars, but honestly he was so rude I'm not sure how nobody has complained about him before. When we first checked in there was a lady who greeted us and assisted us with getting squared away. We found our rooms which were beautiful and spacious!! Definitely one of the better Marriott's I've stayed in. Well for whatever reason our toilet overflowed after my baby girl flushed, I'm sure it was Mi Amor fault but whatever, it overflowed and I called down to the front desk for assistance. When I tell you that night nurse was rude as hell for no reason.....I almost hung up on him except I needed him. Luckily for him the man who showed up to assist (thankfully not him) was AMAZING!!! He did show a little poor judgement implying someone would mop the floors in the morning, but when I asked about getting it handled now he did it himself and I was grateful. The room we stayed in had 2 queen beds, a sofa (which looked like a pullout), a full bathroom (of course), and a kitchenette space that was stocked. This was the first Marriott with a kitchenette that came stocked and it was great! The room had a modern updated feel and had plenty of light. There was a bar upstairs which closed early (in my opinion) on a Friday, 11:30 to be exact and the drinks where decent! I had tequila based drink which had a beautiful presentation and didn't taste too bad (just a little sweet for my preference). I really wanted the mezcal based drink but they were out of mezcal. I was very disappointed, but who knows maybe it's hard to get. If I'm ever in the St Louis area again I would definitely pick here to stay. But to stay here last minute, and they were very accommodating. Front desk was very quick to respond to any concerns that we had with needing items in the room. They had complementary breakfast which you had to go up to a kind of grill to ask for certain items, which I personally like to because people won't take as much as they need, they do have a pool that is covered, and a really great outdoor area. Everything was great. The staff at the front desk, the breakfast bar, & the valet were all very helpful and friendly. I initially had a hard time figuring out parking I didn't see any valet signs on the front of the building but eventually once checked in I understood. The hotel has free happy hour on the weekdays with beer and wine and a light bite. We had cheese, olives, and bread, it was fantastic! Breakfast each morning was great & the ladies who were working were on top of cleaning tables and refilling anything that was running out. The rooms were HUGE, clean, and very open. I absolutely loved the beds they were soooo comfy. I definitely will plan to stay here the next time I visit St. Louis. The location was perfect. read more

The Element is a beautiful new hotel in midtown St. Louis. The service is excellent. That is one of the most important things, but, there is more than that. I have been in the industry with this company (both of them) for a very, very long time. As for select service properties, I must say, this is one of the most impressive properties I have seen. Now, I can't play favorites, but I can't not say, I am incredibly impressed. It's the best complimentary breakfast at a MSB (aka, select service) that I have had, within the United States. It was really impressive. The rooms were impeccably clean and well appointed. I am from the St. Louis area originally, but have largely worked/resided in San Francisco and D.C. for the past 20 years. I've traveled the world. Have stayed in thousands+ of hotels. This is one of if not the best, in its class. I'm not comparing this to luxury, because it isn't in that category. (It isn't supposed to be, for those new to the scene) I'm grading it based on its category. And I give it an A++, Honestly. As for their breakfast specifically, they do an incredible job. (I hate to say, I don't know her name - should have gotten it but was in a rush), but their team is incredibly hard working, all around. Front desk Associates, Housekeeping, Breakfast team, all, just truly exceptional. Back to breakfast Their biscuits and gravy, and quiche, were amazing! Thank you, to all of you! Typical Marriott continental offerings (boiled eggs, yogurt, cereal, bread items, coffee/tea/juice). The rooms are nice - sleek, clean, oversized with kitchenette (no stovetop). The upbar wings are good. Very bar food vibe and selection. Also- Monday nights are basically a club night at the UpBar so if you are on floor 3 or higher you will need to request earplugs, a sound machine or something because the DJ starts at 8 and they go on and on and on. Yes, on a Monday. Women walking around in underwear and hair bonnets reeking of marajuana. The hotel is nice - the crowd on Monday is ratchet. Other than that my stay was nice. read more

The staff were great and very accommodating. They helped get extra things we needed, coffee, ice, extra towels. Were very nice. We weren't able to make coffee in our room because a piece that holds the filter was missing. That's a bummer. Update: they brought us a new coffee maker so everything worked out I picked this hotel because of the rooftop bar. I was looking forward to a relaxing night where I could have a few drinks and not have to worry about driving anywhere. Unfortunately it was closed due to maintenance. My Husband and I felt the bed and couch were so stiff (they haven't been run in yet due to the hotel being new) and uncomfortable. I like soft, both were way to firm for me and my Husband. Another thing to keep in mind is they do not have a parking lot. So you are forced to get the valet parking which is an additional 25 a day... the valet guys are super nice though. My stay started well. Good check-in process and uneventful two days. On the 3rd night, the fire alarm went off around 4AM and continued on and off throughout Thursday. Later on Thursday, I attempted to use the elevator. Door opened, I entered my room number, door closed and the elevator didn't move and the doors would not re-open. So I was stuck in the elevator for 15-20 minutes. I was never contacted by the manager, and no follow up provided. read more

I stayed here for a staycation for my birthday. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was good however their needs to be an in shower platform to hold products. Also there was trash in my recycling bin when I checked in and a leftover plastic knife in the living room area. Very gross. In addition no one told me when I checked in that I had to call and schedule house cleaning. I'm not sure if that standard post COVID but it should have been relayed when I checked in. So my room did not get cleaned the entire time I was there and it came dirty. Breakfast was lacking. The egg whites scramble was good. It was hard to tell what actually was offered because everything was in different places. Perhaps putting everything together will help. My room on the sixth floor was right under the the club on the 7th floor. My room also face the street Forest Park parkway and highway 40. I asked for a room not facing the street when I made my reservation Because of the noise that previous reviewers talked about. I am an extremely light sleeper so I did not sleep well both either night at this hotel. The cars and trucks going across highway 40 woke me up several times. Also the walls in the hotel are very thin. When I got home the day I checked out, I slept through the entire night so I know that it was the hotel noise. In addition, either the pillows or too soft or the bed was too hard. I woke up in pain. read more

I needed a place close to work for the night due to inclement weather. The rate was a little more than I would usually spend for a hotel, but this was the closest place I could find. The place is completely unassuming from the outside. The lobby is hip and inviting. Scott, the front desk manager was warm, welcoming, and friendly. My room was perfect! Trendy and very clean. The bed was comfy and cozy and once I closed the blackout shade, I had no trouble falling asleep. I booked through a third party and there was no mention of the microwave, mini fridge, or sink. I was able to make myself completely at home. Should bad weather strike again, I plan to head right on over. read more

Excellent hotel, and pretty new. Excellent service as well. The rooms are elegant and well appointed with a kitchenette - if you need one. I didn't need any of the cooking facilities in the room but liked the fact that I could use real cups for water and coffee rather than paper or plastic. Same for cutlery for when I got take-away food. They also don't do toiletries in the mini plastic containers but rather, in full containers attached to the shower wall. No bottled water here, the tap water is purified so full your own bottle or the glass bottle provided in each room. Overall I was impressed with their efforts towards sustainability and environmental stewardship in addition to the quality of the hotel and amenities. I'd stay here again without a second thought! +Loved the evening wine beer cheese bread happy hour in the lobby! Such a nice way to end the day and start the evening. read more

Sadly giving this beautiful hotel a 2 star rating. Beds were comfortable, room was clean, great amenities! Natural soap products in your room. Complimentary breakfast was amazing. BUT... we left the room in the morning to take our 4 very small children to get breakfast, realizing we left the valet ticket in my wallet upstairs, hurried back upstairs to get the valet ticket and our loaded cart with our belongings to leave. My wallet was nowhere to be found. Within 10-15 minutes someone has entered our deadbolted door that can only be opened with a our keycards that we're on us and stolen my wallet with my cash, kids insurance cards, debit and credit cards, and checkbook. Thankfully they weren't smart enough and used my cards at a gas station down the road. Someone that knew what they were doing got into our room within a small time frame, No damage to the door, knew exactly where to go and grabbed MY belongings. Also there are only cameras in the lobby? And Nowhere else in the entire building. Extremely inconvenient for us but extremely convenient for the Grinch that ruined our first family trip. Our safety was stripped from us by a beautiful hotel, and now I'm having to scramble a few days before thanksgiving to get replacement cards and everything else. A police report was filed and no help was offered to us by the hotel other than them offering to keep and eye out for it. Like I said, BEAUTIFUL hotel but do not recommend if you want to feel safe. read more

I am updating the below review after speaking to manager Mr. Royal and other members of staff. It is unfortunate that one person can potentially ruin an entire experience, but the kindness and understanding of other staff members helped right the wrong. The facility is really top notch, comfortable and clean. I did not give it five stars because I am still concerned with being incorrectly charged valet fees on multiple stays. ---------------------------- I was prepared to give this location 5 stars despite a small hiccup in the evening. The manager, Scott, clearly cared and worked hard to fix the issue. I could see the hotel was busy, yet he kept every promise made, including calling back when promised. But then in the morning, I noticed I was overcharged by nearly $100 and went to the front desk to question the charges before checking out. The interaction with Tamara that followed was disturbing and unnecessary. She was very rude when I questioned the unauthorized parking charge on my account. Every time I stay at this hotel, this charge is slipped into my bill and I expend an inordinate amount of time correcting it afterwards. Tamara, at the front desk, confirmed with the parking attendant that the charges were in error, but refused to remove the parking charge or give details on how or when it would be corrected. Her tone conveyed annoyance at having to speak to me: she kept rolling her eyes, and refused to directly answer my questions while snarling at me. When I asked if we could agree to speak to each other in a polite manner, she refused saying, "no, I am not a child." No one called her a child, I merely requested civility. I then directly requested a business card, but instead of explaining that only managers had business cards, she repeated over and over, "I am not a manager" while still snarling at me. When I asked when a manager would be available, she said "I don't know. Later". I asked for a print-out of my bill, and she ignored me for several minutes until finally snapping, "I'm working on it!" I am not sure why someone would be so nasty and rude to a guest after THEY admittedly made a "mistake" on billing (I can only hope it is not a fraud perpetrated on many unsuspecting guests). I have been to Bonvoy affiliated hotels all over the world for the better part of a decade, and am a Titanium member; I can definitively say I have never experienced this level of disdain and dis-service from staff. Housekeeping did not do a good job. At check in, we found shreds of tissue paper on the floor. We traveled w a baby and expected this hotel to be cleaner. Housekeeping is also very noisy when they clean adjacent rooms, I asked for them to keep it down since our baby is napping but they were slamming the drawers around very loudly and banging around that can be felt through the walls. Alarm clock is an hour slow and can't be changed. Nobody knew how to change it. No biggie, but AC vents right onto your face all night. The differential on the AC unit is too large, so you go from cold to hot every hour. It's almost like the people who design these rooms never bother to stay in them. read more

Studio rooms are large and include all the kitchen accoutrements you could need, even for a long stay. My stay at the Element was for a visit to Saint Louis University. I can't say enough about this new hotel from the attentive customer service at check in to the beautiful super clean rooms. Huge comfy beds that I am accustomed to in a much more expensive hotel, large walk around shower with bathroom with all the upgrades. Even the halls are beautifully lit with sculpture lights. Easy access to the SLU campus. I didn't concern myself with parking and used the valet. This will be my hotel for all visits to Saint Louis. read more
