This is Boise's municipal cemetery. It started as a burial ground soon after the area was settled…read morein 1863. It is the oldest cemetery in continuous use in the city. Carrie Logan, the daughter of Thomas and Carolyn Logan, was buried in Pioneer Cemetery on August 22, 1864, at the age of 5 years, 11 months, and 5 days. Although others were buried before her, hers is the cemetery's oldest burial stone that can still be read. Among those laid to rest here are Governor Robert E. Smylie, Governor Edward J. Curtis, Mayor John Lemp, Mayor Thomas E. Logan, Governor Edward A. Stevenson and Governor Cecil D. Andrus. The cemetery is in excellent condition and is easily navigable. I wasn't able to find anyone other than Governor Andrus, but I'm sure some more diligent searching would have done it. Perhaps a posted guide would be useful. And share that the military ceremonies r generally held in a smallish, only partly enclosed shelter... so guests should dress appropriately for wind/sun/rain & possible walking on some grass. The staff & volunteers were excellent, & led our larger group well from start to finish. My stepdad received his due military honors. Watching the folding & then presentation of the flag is a humbling sight/ that didn't seem right to photograph. RIP our honorable soldiers.

We requested no graveside service with the chairs and canopy, as only immediate family would watch my mom's burial and no formal service would be held. I'm not sure what was going on, but John Yraguen, who gets very positive reviews here on Yelp and via word-of-mouth, was incredibly unprofessional. My brother and his partner were together for 23 years and have two children, however they were unmarried. This seemed unacceptable to Mr. Yraguen, as he made several jokes to my grieving sister-in-law, including "So you couldn't get him to marry you after 23 years?" After calling around to other funeral homes, a family member who was paying for the services had questions about the discrepancy in prices between Nampa Funeral Home and other providers, specifically the approximate $1000 difference for cremation. Mr. Yraguen responded by calling my sister-in-law directly, yelling at her, and stating that her parents could "come and get their goddamned money!" This was our family's go-to funeral service provider for nearly four decades. No longer.
