One on right fully repaired and functional for under $30.

Brought in my Bulova that Fred Meyer broke during a battery replacement and then denied breaking it. Timekeeper was amazing. On the spot repair, new battery and out the door for $26. Wife's Michael Kors was a little more complicated repair but the quote was so reasonable it was hard to pass up. Take your watches here and nowhere else FULL STOP!

Watchmaker Ira Goldstein is one of a rare and dwindling breed of skilled craftsmen trained at the American Watchmakers Institute (Ohio) who can both repair and do complete restoration on watches from antique to modern. At his shop, which has recently moved from its' former location near the police station to the little collection of shops at Jackson Square, he also stocks batteries not only for all watches but also for car remotes. Ira can replace anything on watches, like crystals which may have been scratched, and crowns and stems. He also has a great selection of vintage and newer watches for sale in his shop and I learned he buys old and new watches, working or not. Added bonus is that he is such a nice man and the shop has a sort of "ahh..." zen about just being in it. I was in recently to have him look at the metal band on a Bulova watch that is going on probably 40 years old and had been a gift from my dad to my mom and then she to me and for which the clasp was no longer working. Ira looked it over carefully and gave me the diagnosis of showing how the clasp end had split, not evident to the naked eye. He also showed me how the clasp on this watch is integrated with the band so the entire band, not just the clasp, would need to be replaced and how band is integrated with the watch itself so for this generation of Bulova the repair will need to include ordering the exact band Bulova used for this watch. Since he is not a licensed Bulova dealer, Ira can't order parts from Bulova but he referred me to a jeweler / Bulova dealer who will be able to to let me know if Bulova even has that band available any longer and if so who can order it to make repair. This is going to be expensive and so I likely will tuck this watch away for sentiments sake or find someone to give it to who wants to have it repaired and invest in a new watch given I am one of those people who likes wearing a watch for checking the time (I know, I know...it is more in synch with the era in which we live to look at one's phone but...) and also at an age where a bigger face dial than on this one makes seeing it easier. I plan on including the watches in Ira's shop as options as I look around. NEIGHBORS: Jackson Square is also home to Bella Biscotteria, a great little Italian bakery, open Thurs - Sun from about 9a to 3p so if you time your visit to Ira's shop with the bakery being open you can pick up goodies to go. It is also home to State Farm Insurance agent, Chelsea Stutzman, who we highly recommend. PARKING: Jackson Square was a dump of a location until maybe 2 years ago and whether new owners or not, it has been updated and improved a lot since for stores and facades. But the parking lot is a mess of being poorly designed with too small and too few angled spaces and it seems not fixable. Be aware of this as you enter and exit. ACCESSIBILITY: There is only one ADA spot and it is impossible for a wheelchair user (which is me these days) to park and get out of their vehicle anywhere in the lot except for using this spot as it has the only curb cut access to the sidewalk. As luck would have it, it is right outside Ira's shop. His shop is level in, all on one level and with accessible height counters.

I had never brought my ring in to have the prongs tightened in the 7 years i've had it, and I knew it had to be done. the owner, I don't remember his name, was kind of shy, quiet. looked it over and told me it had a lot of work to be done on it. He said it would take a couple weeks and here's my ticket number to keep. he gave me a slip of paper. That was it. weeks went by, and no word. finally, after a month, I called. a woman answered the phone and said that he had gotten covid and then was sick with something else and hadn't been able to work on jewelry in a while. why was I not informed of this? you've had my engagement ring over a month and I just don't hear from you? anyway, she said he would call me back. never did. another few days went by and I decided I was just going in. I was tired of waiting and I wanted my ring back even if it wasn't done. I walked in and he wasn't there but the girl was. she said it was "just done" and she was "going to call me today". gee, thanks. I still paid the quoted price. no discount whatsoever for waiting over a month to repair my ring. and the worst part is he reshaped it (it had a little kink in the band) which I didn't ask for, and now it's tighter than it was on me before. also, one of the diamond chips he replaced that had fallen out has a flaw- a black spot in it that I can't stop staring at. I'm not bringing it back in there to have it fixed again and waiting another month. i'm good. I won't be bringing my jewelry back here.

His shop is located around the corner from Albertson's in Eagle. He also sells jewelry but he is not one of those pushy sales people. He listens to what you want, explains what he'll do and tells you the price. My rings looks beautiful and won't be turning or falling off. We're so happy we found him.
