We wanted a quote on a fireplace, sent pictures to the sales guy Steve. First for some options…read more Still needed to come out to do quote. $200 later and had to send e-transfer to his personal account and we still have no quote. My husband had to tell him a few times to measure then we're told they don't install another independent contractor does the install, not at all impressed. By the end of all this we could only put in a electric which we are more than capable in putting this in ourselves. What a waste of time and money. I wonder if the company knows he takes money like that??? NOT IMPRESSED!!

this is a response to Shauna…read more I'm Steve, I had given you the quote for the fireplaces well before we even spoke about me coming out to your lake lot. we spoke on the phone three of four times in the span of a week. I even asked for pictures before hand so that I could give you information on what could or couldn't be done to try and save a trip out there. When you asked for me to come out to your lake lot (an hour and a half away, one way, so a three hour total trip) thats when I said that I would need money to cover my gas and time, on my day off no less. I advised you well before booking the site check and you even cancelled it once. you were never forced to book the site check. Once out there I had measured everything up for the wood fireplace as we discussed and planned beforehand, once I told you and your husband where it would stick out (3-4 ft into the room due to your roofline) you swapped over to gas, I measured everything up as well for the gas fireplace but there was no real way to get gas to the location you wanted so you then asked for electric fireplaces. I measured up for that and you had asked if we do all the finishing work and tiling etc, which we don't, so I advised that if you wanted a contractor to do that that I could give you the name of someone who could. I also mentioned that he could install the electric. while he would be doing that work as it would save you money on trip charges etc. so after three hours of driving and an hr of being there, I don't think $200.00 is unfair for 4 hrs of time and expertise. I get that you are upset that you paid $200.00 for a result that you didn't want, but my duty is to give my clients honest and proper information. The crazy story that you post as a way to get back at me is quite petty if you ask me but you do what you need to do. To everyone who reads this, once you meet me and talk with me you will know the type of person I am and the service that I give to all my clients. Thank you all and god bless.

Walking in, to the right is the drapery section. Lots of curtain samples and a large table for alterations. The owner is a seamstress by trade and has the skills to install trailer made drapes in up house. She also installs high quality poles not the crappy adjustable ones I have in my house. It's drapery goals right, there. It's a Benjamin Moore store too and they mix colours to exactly match your sample tone. They stock beautiful glassware, fancy copper tumblers and Moscow mule cups, wine glasses and more. Lots of Canadian made items for those (like me) who like to support local and have items with a story. Ornaments, lighting, oil burners. They stock Lamp Berger and has a beautiful display area for that stuff. Wind chimes, clocks, mirrors. Ok that's the expected, the unexpected stuff in here is a long list of teas, men grooming items, oven mitts, greeting cards, jewelry, more, more, more. The owner has a cheeky sense of humour that you can see in the gift options I found in there. Perfect for those who like a giggle. The hand sanitizers are naughty, curse words on mugs and even a handbag you can hide a bottle of wine in. I'll be back for the bag and some beautiful coloured glass tumblers.

There had been a mix up somewhere along the way and they didn't have my appointment at all. The gentleman I spoke with was very apologetic and asked if it would work for someone to come in 2 hours from then. The two men arrived a couple moments before the new scheduled time and introduced themselves. They took a look at my fireplace and immediately let me know that it is not safe to use it. He explained what the problems are and suggested what I could do going forward. He did not charge me for their time and thanked me for calling them. I don't anticipate need for any further service but would be happy to use them again if the need arose!

If I could give a negative star rating I would…read more We hired Hugh the owner of Capital Chimney Service at the beginning of May to fix the flashing around our chimney as it was leaking. Hugh was the one that did the work. He seemed very knowledgeable, advised me a lifetime warranty on the cap and warranty on the flashing until we get the shingles replaced as he cannot guarantee what the next person does, made sense to me. And the price was too good to be true. I should have known then. He fixed the cap of my chimney first. He had to do it 3 times as it kept cracking. I put it off as his young helper did not mix the concrete right, or it rained the night he poured it. Then it was time to do the flashing. In the quote I have he put down that he will replace all the rotten wood, seal around the chimney 3 feet, install new shingles for the ones he took out and fix the flashing. He did not replace the rotten wood. I was told that it is not bad and could just be left as is. I'm not a roofer/expert so I took his word. Around mid-May he was done. Not even a week later the roof is still leaking, this time there is also a new area that it is leaking from, still within the area that he did all the work. Capital Chimney Service came back to look at it and said it was condensation and to call him when we tear out the ceiling so he can see from the inside what is going on. At this point he said to me "don't worry whatever it is I will fix it." Because of the new leak we had to tear out the walls as water was running down the wall and was wet enough to push your finger through it. We tore out the ceiling and walls, still leaking, not condensation. He came by again and told my husband that he does not believe it is leaking. My husband went on the roof with the garden hose and the roof started to leak. I cannot remember how many times we had Capital Chimney Service back at our place, but I know he only came once to try and fix it. He glued down some shingles and did nothing else. Roof still leaking. At this point I have had enough and got some quotes to get my roof fixed. He got very upset when we told Hugh we had 2 journeymen roofers look at our roof and advise us that the work was not done correctly. I have a very detailed report from one company with pictures that shows me what is wrong. The wrong materials were used and the installation was also done incorrectly. The way Capital Chimney Service instilled the flashing is actually making the water run under the shingles and into the house. We told Capital Chimney Service about it and he said that the roofers are wrong and he did the job right. We had enough of this and on July 20, 2020 the last time Hugh was at our house to "assess" the problem, my husband said that we would like the money back for the flashing job as it will cost us twice as much to get fixed correctly and he can keep the money for the cap. Capital Chimney Service told us that our warranty is now VOID and that he never wants to see us again. Capital Chimney Service has refused to give us our money back, he deleted a post my husband made on Capital Chimney Service facebook account, he has blocked our number and blocked us on facebook and is not returning our texts. We asked him for his company insurance information and he refused to give it to us. I am not asking for the extra money we have had to put in for glue, roof vents that we bought, the tearing out of the walls and insulation that will have to be put back. I do not recommend Capital Chimney Service as they are very unprofessional, is not knowledgeable and does not stand behind their work. And my roof still leaks until the experts come to fix it.

We have our lights, various appliances, and other smart home devices already hooked up to Alexa, but I could NEVER get a smart thermostat installed and working properly. I was unsuccessful at installing one myself, my old heating & cooling guys couldn't get one working, and an electrician we hired couldn't get one working. I was told that something was wrong with the configuration in our furnace's wiring, or alternatively, the smart thermostat we purchased was a lemon. I had to settle for running up and down the stairs, flicking the heat controller back and forth between "heat" and "cool" manually, depending on whether I needed the furnace or the central air conditioning. With the constant wild swings in Edmonton's temperature all throughout the Spring, it was a major pain to keep resetting the thermostat manually when the rest of our smart home was so automated. Recently, when our old thermostat started wearing out and malfunctioning, I thought I'd give the installation of a smart thermostat another shot. I carefully researched the reviews, and saw that Trust Home Comfort came highly recommended. They seemed to have a lot of experience in upgrading old-style thermostats to electronic smart home systems. I'm happy to report that I was not disappointed! My first discussions with Van were great. He understood exactly what we wanted, he sympathised at my frustrations with our previous attempts to convert to a smart thermostat, and he assured me that Trust Home Comfort could solve the problem. He promised to send his best, most experienced installer (Kang). I got an appointment immediately for two days from the day of booking, which was enough time to get the thermostat brand and model he suggested (ecobee), after I asked him for his recommendation. Amazon supplied the thermostat through next-day delivery through ecobee's Amazon store, and the installer showed up the very next day after, on-time-to-the-minute of the booking we made, to install the device. (I should also mention that Trust Home Comfort has a sophisticated computerised appointment booking and billing system, so reminders are sent out via email in a timely way before the appointment, and billing is detailed and easy-to-pay online). To make a long story short, Kang was able to immediately identify the simple wiring problem that hexed us all these years, preventing us from installing a smart thermostat sooner. At one stage years ago, our humidistat control was moved to the furnace room by our old heating and cooling guy, and the wiring of the old humidistat left behind from the old location was confused with one of the power wires needed to power-up a smart thermostat. The correct wire was quickly relocated by Trust Home Comfort's technician, and the smart thermostat was up and running in no time! The old manual thermostat worked because it didn't need external power, but when previous heating companies and electricians tried to hook up a smart thermostat to the (dead) "power wire", it naturally couldn't power-up because the old humidistat wire, although the same colour as the correct external power wire, wasn't powered. Trust Home Comfort figured out what the problem was, and fixed the problem immediately. Their experience and ability to troubleshoot problems quickly proved they were a sound choice to install our new smart thermostat. The billing was detailed, fast and very reasonable. They did exactly what they promised to do, and today the smart thermostat is working EXACTLY as it should. Their technician was experienced, and set everything up exactly as we wanted. What more could I have ask for? I can't recommend Trust Home Comfort enough! Needless to say, they are our new, permanent service provider when it comes to any home heating or cooling solutions.
