Passing by one Friday evening and there was a steady crowd of folks walking about ordering from the food stalls. The DJ was spinning Lustt's "Pillow Talk" in the background, and loud conversations can be heard from all directions. The smells were amazing including skewers and freshly made papaya salad as well as sweets. I ordered a stick of grape tanghulu from one of the vendors which happened to be a kid and their grandmother. Other stalls included artwork, cute plushies, and other knickknacks. Some of the B&M shops along the alley were also opened during this hour. Around 7pm it was pretty lively, though after heading to another location and coming back around 10pm, the market does quiet down a fair bit. Authentic, vibrant, and just a plain good ole' time, DS night market really knocks it out of the park in terms of organization and quality of vendors. Shoutout to the amazing organizers! Located in Chinatown, this night market has been excellent in terms of revitalizing a once-dead (but historic and very dope) part of LA, as well as a way to support local small businesses. There is live music and karaoke. There are multiple paid parking lots within the vicinity or free street parking if you're willing to walk a few blocks. They used to locate in the LAX-C (aka Thai Costco) parking lot, but they moved to this current location near Chinatown Central Plaza. I feel the offerings are authentic Thai and is bringing much- needed life to the Chinatown area. I honestly thought that I have had some of the best Thai food already as I grew up eating at many Thai establishments. But boy was I wrong! So, for example I got to try freshly made pad see ew and it seriously was the best I have ever had!! There are a lot of vendors that I definitely see myself coming back to. There was so many vendors and I seriously wanted to try everything! I liked that there was not repeated food items from the vendors so there was a great selection to choose from. Every vendor there offered something different. I honestly loved that this night market is taking place in Chinatown, as it got me to spend some time in a spot where I used to frequent often as a kid but not so much as an adult. Had an amazing time during the Labor Day Weekend at the market! Karaoke was at 7:30pm and the host brought the energy. Small night market during your LA weekends from Friday-Sunday. Check their site or social media for hours. Plenty of street parking. They're located inside a Chinatown plaza. It was pretty small with only about 10 food vendors but very entertaining. There's live karaoke and a host who keeps the crowd engaged. Just wish there were more food vendors. Had a great experience here at the DS night market! We came on a Sunday and enjoyed the atmosphere. Parking is always free on Sunday in Chinatown, so we were able to get some good parking. We had some skewers from a vendor a little more down the way that was selling 8 pork skewers for $10 bucks which was the best deal in the entire place. We had something called a Pirate cocktail which had no alcohol and was refreshing. And since it was a night market, we had to get the mango sticky rice. Overall, the food was flavorful and made fresh to order. The people were kind and the vibes were vibing. And not sure if they do this every weekend or they change it up but I took the leap of faith and signed up for karaoke in front of everyone. Might have just discovered my new favorite weekend hangout. DS Night Market is currently taking over Chinatown Plaza Friday through Sunday. I've frequently Chinatown Plaza for many events from races, fundraisers, run meetups, and Chinatown Summer Nights. Great to see continued growth of community and small business events. DS Night Market has been on my list of places to visit for a while. Ended my Mother's Day with an evening eating the best Thai street food in the area. Love the family vibe. Totally chill, food was flowing, everyone seemed happy (both patrons and vendors), karaoke was poppin. We tried the crispy pork from On Crunch (a MUST), Tanghulu (addicted), and had to get some Pad See Ew (my fave). There are several food and drinks options including boba and juices. We enjoyed every ounce of food and drink we consumed. Even purchases mango sticky rice to take home. The DJ (you'll see all his shenanigans on the DS Night Market IG page) was very energetic and kept the karaoke crowd engaged. They've got some pros out there. The night market was really lacking and disappointing. I'm not sure if we went on an evening with few vendors or what, but we walked through and were generally disappointed in the options. We ended up stopping at one stand to get something small to tide us over before we headed somewhere else for dinner. We ordered the crispy pork and I will say, it was fresh, delicious and flavorful! DS Night Market or Damnoen Saduak Night Market is a great concept. Basically, what it is, is a bunch of street food vendors set up right in the heart of Chinatown. Excellent idea; right? This food market operates from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM on Friday and Saturday nights and from 4:00PM to 10:00 PM on Sunday night. In association with food, they also have a DJ spending some great music. So, not only are you going to enjoy the food that's offered, but you're also going to be able to listen to some great music. Plus, you are right in the heart of Chinatown, so if any of the shops are still open, and you feel like going and doing some shopping, you can do that, as well. One way or the other, you're in the culturally historic area of Los Angeles Chinatown, which is always fun! That's all great. But, I do have one beef with this night market. At least at the time(s) I went there, all of the food there was Thai food. Yes, 100% Thai food sellers. Now, I love Thai food. But, when you go to a Chinatown-based night market, don't you expect the food that's being offered is to be China culinary influenced? But, there was absolutely none. We came here on Friday night before watching a show in the same area. I have promised my friend to take her here when DS was still in their old location. I was so sad when I heard they closed that one, and now they have a new location and even more stalls, I'd bring all of my friends to here ! Parking is a little harder than the old location, there's a paid parking building next to it about $10, but if you're feeling lucky , I parked on the street so it saved me some money. All of the people who work there are nice and fiendly. I'm glad I saw some familiar stalls and faces, like sweet potato balls and Coco smoothie stalls. There are some new stalls that I've never seen before like chicken skin and squid. They have more variety and food selections this time and they have an active social media too, so it helps me to keep track what's going on each week ! Best Thai food night market! I heard about this place on social media and I'm glad it lived up to the hype. The night market was originally located in the ChaTraMue plaza, but is now located near Cathay Bank. The night market is small, but it's free to enter and every stall has great food. Some stalls accept cash, Venmo, or Zelle, while others accept credit card. I parked in the lot across the street. I didn't see a parking attendant on Saturday, 12/21/24, so I parked there for free. It's a bit of a risk, but luckily my car was still there and I didn't get a ticket. There are so many great options to choose from: 1. MuPing Pa Jong - Thai Skewers - Pork was more tender than the beef. $10 for 8 pork skewers, $10 for 5 beef skewers. Pork skewers are a must get! Paid with cash. 2. Boat Noodle - Boat noodles were delicious at $17. The noodles were soft and the broth was flavorful. I can't handle spice and ordered non-spicy. The boat noodles had a kick from the black pepper. Paid with cash. 3. Coco Bar - Coco Milk Smoothie for $9.50 was refreshing, sweet, and had coconut meat blended in. Accepts credit card. My friends and I shared the fried chicken with Cajun seasoning and the sweet potato balls. The sweet potato balls are a must! They taste like crispy balls of mochi! I'd been wanting to visit DS night market for a while.  We tried once back in June 2024, but parking was impossible due to a nearby Pride event. Fast forward to Nov 2024, and they've relocated to the heart of Chinatown.  When we arrived around 5:45pm, street parking wasn't an issue, though in the future, I might visit on a Sunday to avoid the stress of moving my car after the 2-hour meter limit.  Thankfully, the market has plenty of  tables and chairs, so you can sit down and enjoy your food.  Most items range from $10-$15 and they accept Venmo, Zelle and cash.  Aside from a katsu sando and a Korean fried chicken vendor, nearly every booth there was serving Thai food-desserts, drinks, stir fry noodles and skewers! You name it, and it all looks delicious.  Hubby and I shared some chicken skewers, Thai omelette with rice, pad see ew, and khao soi noodles with roast pork. Some friends joined us later, and we enjoyed the DJ's music followed by a couple guys playing the guitar.  While I'm not into durian desserts, our friends loved theirs and called it legit! I really like the relaxed vibe and the lack of crowds.  I can see myself coming more often in the summer, as it got pretty chilly after sitting there for a couple hours.  I didn't notice any restrooms or porta potties, but there's a parking lot next to the night market for $7. read more

It was a Sunday night and we wanted to try this place out since Instagram showed plenty of reels and photos. It's in the Chinatown central plaza, where there's stores full of random merchandise and toys. Parking was hard! Street parking and paid parking in lots are options but depending on where you go you might accidentally park in the 20$ all day one! There might be better options out there but if you're short on time sometimes paying more is the only option. We circled around a few times and were lucky to find parking on the street near a dark alley... There are various booths selling food and drinks the day we went, it's always great seeing them cook everything in front of you, we got the following: 1. Pork and chicken skewers: 8 for 10$ (we got 16 for 20$) was such a great deal, skewers were tied in a bag but they were juicy and tender. Loved the flavor and they were warm and seasoned well. I think this was my favorite out of everything I've tried. 2. Crispy pork pad kee mao: for 20$ good portion of pork, but the noodles were a bit too spicy. The kind of spicy that hurts your throat but not the tongue kind, reminded me of hot Cheetos spicy (hurts but can't stop eating) and because of that I ate it all! I'm not good with spicy food but this one was an example of "it hurts so good"??? 3. Oyster omelette: for 15$ the omelette came with spicy sauce to dip but unfortunately I couldn't handle this type of spicy! I ate the dish by itself and unfortunately it was a bit bitter and the lemon made it sour and bitter! I bet with the sauce as intended it would've been much better. 4. Korean corn dog (cheese): for 6$ you get a yummy fried cheese on a stick with ketchup and mustard on the side but the batter was super thick! It was like a fried cheese ball? The cheese pull was nice but only got two in before the stick was mostly batter. Still yummy, I think I took more cheese out on the 2nd bite! 5. Fried Chicken XL: this was a huge flattened chicken breast deep fried! For 20$ it'll fill you up! We got cheddar cheese and garlic Parmesan flavor. I liked the Parmesan flavor more. The best part was the crispy outer coating, super crispy and crunchy! As you dig into it, you'll probably notice it starts to get sticky and the batter getting a bit tough and hard. Some parts of the chicken was drier (such as the thicker parts) while some were a bit "tough" and chewy. 6. Thai tea was from the alley booth for 9$, it was expensive but on the bright side, I was super happy they let us choose a sweetness level! Most booths selling drinks don't let us change because the drinks are already premade. We got half sweet and it was just right! There was music playing in the middle and a bunch of tables and plastic stools around. It wasn't busy so we were able to find seating, if it got a bit more crowded we'd probably had to eat and walk. The restroom was the problem, the portable potty toilets were gross and the first one was FULL! When it got dark, I could barely see inside and I'm scared to bring in anything with me inside. But glad they had them, there wasn't a public restroom nearby and you might have to walk a bit to find one! Overall I had a good eating experience, definitely will want the skewers again! We checked out DS Night Market in Chinatown on their grand opening weekend, and it was a nice, chill experience--especially since we went early at 6 p.m. on Sunday. Parking was super easy, with plenty of street spots and a parking plaza right where the market is set up. The market has around 20-25 stalls offering everything from desserts to noodles and other street foods. Even though it was the grand opening, the lines weren't too bad, probably because it was still early in the night. Compared to At Siam Night Market in Hollywood , DS was a lot less crowded and didn't have any live performances yet. But they have a stage, so we're pretty sure live music will happen as the market settles in. We tried some Khao Soi (northern Thai chicken curry), pork belly rice, roti with banana and jackfruit, and black sesame soy milk. The stalls offered a good range of classic Thai options, though nothing super unique compared to other night markets, like the one in Hollywood. Still, being right in downtown LA, it's more accessible for anyone nearby, and parking is definitely easier. The vibe here is friendly and laid-back--perfect for a fun outing with friends. If you're not completely satisfied with the stalls, Chinatown has tons of other options with bakeries and restaurants around. Plus, the market vendors accept Zelle and Venmo, so you don't have to carry cash. Expect to spend around $10 for a dessert roti and $15 for dishes like pho, boat noodles, or khao soi. Love this market and their new location in Chinatown Plaza. Feels a lot more intimate, the dj beats are slappin, and the food is always flamin (lots of non-spicy options as well). My favorite stall is Pad Pad with their high btu burners imparting that wok hei into their tasty noodle dishes, followed by that place with the mortar and pestle pounding delicious flavors into their papaya salads. Boat noodles, crispy crunch pork belly, lao sausage, coco cream drinks, and fried sweet potato balls are what I come here for. Karoake night on Sundays is fun to watch and they even have live band performances on Saturdays. Cash is not necessary as card, Venmo, and Zelle are accepted. Some vendors can be on the pricier side for some but its totally worth it. Tables are kept relatively clean but always do your part and clean as you go. We've been to the one next to the Cathay Bank parking lot around 2 months ago, it was smaller but the food was so amazing and there was traditional Thai dancing as part of the program. We went to another one this last weekend at another block, the vibe was very different than the first one (trap and EDM music in the background) and the size was bigger with many more street vendors. We felt that the food was amazing with many different varieties, there were plenty of seats, overall very well organized. We didn't have to use the restroom so not sure about the arrangement for that, but it is in DTLA so use discretion whether to drive or uber there. All in all a 10/10 experience. read more

Honestly, one of THE BEST night market experiences I have ever had. I had a ginormous craving for any sort of Asian cuisine, and as soon as I walked into the thin corridor filled with delicious scents from the food stands, booths with trinkets, and live music, I knew I was in the right spot. My mom and I tried 3 booths. One had these grilled chicken and pork skewers with a side of sticky rice. My mom asked the owner if they had any sort of sauce, and she gave some to us, but said that the meat wouldnt need any "because it tastes good on its own." Boy was she right. The meat was perfectly seasoned, uber flavorful, and all for a great price. The second booth that we tried had all sorts of Thai dishes, but we chose their pad see ew. Amazing. We literally saw the booth owner make the food in front of us in a wok and the smell alone was mouth watering. Highly suggest getting the pad see ew and sprinkling the chili flakes they offer on them. Chefs kiss. From the third booth we got some dessert: mango sticky rice. Needless to say, it was delicious. Perfectly ripe mangos paired with sublime sticky rice. Match made in heaven. Overall this was such an amazing experience. My friend was a huge fan of the skewers and the satay booth with the pork being all our favorite from there. For noodles, boat noodle were great and had a bit of a kick to it. The khao soi booth had different protein to choose from and the broth is very good but unfortunately the noodles were a bit overcooked. Seems like it's cooked ahead of the time then reheated? Had some of the Garlic Crispy Pork and very good if you're a fan of pork. The sauce with it is very good. I'd get it a la carte unless you really crave the rice. There's a booth selling Taiwanese fried food like chicken and mushroom. Great seasoning on the chicken cutlet and it really is pretty close to what you'd get at nightmarkets in Taiwan. Unfortunately I was too full to grab dessert but the Sticky Mango Rice booth was busy throughout the night. Overall a fun experience, but it can get a bit pricey. read more

This is a new location for a night market that used to be in front of the thai supermarket and I completely like it. The parking is much more smooth and there are just as many options in the east garden parking lot. This is a great place to go get your thai street food on the weekends. I suggest the crispy pork basil and khao Soi as the main. There are also sweet potato balls and mango sticky rice for your desert options. Love the vibes of DS Night Market in the Chinatown location. And more importantly, the food is amazing! We keep coming back for the pork skewers, tom yum noodles, and fried sweet potato balls. We've been on different days throughout the weekend and it's not super crowded, but just the right amount of people for good vibes and a good time. Though some vendors accept Zelle/credit card, I recommend bringing some cash. read more

Came to DS Night Market on a Saturday night, and their new location was very accessible! I tried going to their old locations months prior, and the parking situation and overall area wasn't too nice so I didn't check out the night market prior. Anyway, they have several vendors, which vendors sell food like khao soi, crispy pork belly bowls, pad thai, pad see ew, salmon bowls, drinks, desserts, and many other foods (mostly Thai). I got the pad see ew from Penya's Treats, and their pad see ew was the best I tried in LA in my opinion. The vendors here take cash or zelle/venmo. There were a decent amount of tables to choose from where you can sit down to eat after getting your food. Also it's cool that they have a stage for bands or live performances to happen. Overall, I think its a solid Thai style night market, and I would check it out again. Also, whoever said there are no restrooms is wrong, there were porta pottys in the back of the night market, with sinks and soap as well. read more

It was pretty small. When we went (black friday) this place only have less than 15 stalls. The food it really good though! I loved the meat on the stick and the khao soi. Service is pretty quick. There are plenty of places to sit and eat. Prices are quite normal. read more

Glad to see Chinatown popping on a Friday. A bit sad to see how the area has changed but glad this still feels like we are supporting mom and pops. It had the feel of a Thai market with plastic chairs and fold up tables. There are a number of stalls that have all of the basics of Thai food. There are some stalls that serve the same dishes and I finally ordered the Kra Pao pork at one stall. Solid solid dish. Only pork available but tasted the basil, tasted the sauce, and enjoyed the spice level. It was a good dish at $15. I also had Asam Sausage from another stall and also good flavor overall. It was a bit sour and had rice within which I was looking for. For 3 sausages, you pay $15 which also kind of feels like a lot. Comparing it to the Thai market at the temple, it is a premium and I get it but it is still a bit hard to swallow. That said, I like the vibe and is super easy with fast service to get the food pretty quickly. Overall, easy solid meal where Venmo, Apple Pay, and Zelle are accepted. Enjoyed it overall even though price was comparably more than what I'm used to. read more
