Grand Central Market is one of the best places in LA, if not the best, to experience a variety of cuisines under one roof! You can get Mexican, Thai, Italian, Mediterranean, seafood and vegan and so much more! On my recent visit, I went to Ramen Hood for vegan ramen), Donut Man for their strawberry donut and the newly opened Cinnies for their famous cinnamon roll. I forgot how fun it is to eat here. It's the perfect place to just do a food crawl and try out different spots. I also like that this market has been around and has history, as opposed to those newly constructed food halls. Grand Central Market is an LA gem!
I took my youngest daughter to Grand Central Market today because we wanted to see what the place was all about. She had a blast exploring everything inside. We stopped at the candy store, grabbed ice cream at McConnell's, picked up empanadas, and finished with cinnamon buns. Every stop felt fun and easy, and she loved having so many choices in one place. They also had a pop‑up shop selling World Cup merchandise, which was a cool surprise. Downstairs, there was a viewing area set up so people could watch the games. It added a great energy to the whole place and made the visit feel even more lively. For such a busy market, the bathroom was surprisingly clean. Parking was simple too. There's a structure attached to the building, and for about an hour I only paid five dollars, which is rare for downtown. My daughter absolutely loves this place and already wants to come back to try more of the restaurants. Grand Central Market is lively, colorful, and full of great food options. It's a perfect spot to wander, snack, and enjoy the energy of downtown LA.
We came here to check out the market as we've done it in other cities. We liked the different options to the market. It was a lot of different food groups which were great to see. We tried a few different places and liked it. I would come back again!
They have a bunch of tvs everywhere so you can watch the fifa games. The ones downstairs are probably better since it has a/c. They have a fifa pop up and idk if the airbnb experience is a pop up or if it was there the whole time but you can decorate you own cake. They have a cute trash can with a basketball hoop on it.
So I found myself on a 36 hour foodie trip to SoCal and I was trying to figure out the best way to put this trip together-no wasted time-no wasted activities that didn't involve food-so after doing a bit of research-I decided there was no better way to start this trip than to head straight to Grand Central Market in downtown Los Angeles. So after a morning flight to LAX and grabbing a rental car real quick,off to downtown LA I went and once I found the building that housed this Market,I had to find parking-I saw some lots in the immediate area but my gosh,they were charging crazy amounts,so we ended up parking about 2-3 blocks away at a $10 a day lot and just walked to the market-no problem. Now Grand Central Market is the kind of place that foodies like myself only dream about,then we wake up with the thought"yeah like that would ever happen"It's such a special place,the only time I've ever seen anything close to this has been in NYC and Milwaukee of all places but those places were so much smaller. Grand Central Market is a building that features 40+ vendors/restaurants-showcasing some of the best bites that SoCal has to offer,all under one roof-it's mind blowing. You want tacos?...I think I saw at least 5 taco vendors including the world famous Villas Tacos,featured in the recent Super Bowl performance by Bad Bunny. You want smash burgers?....They have For The Win-critically known as one of the top 5 smash burgers in SoCal. You want empanadas or pupusas?....They got Nonna's Empanadas and Saritas Pupuseria. You want ramen or sushi?...They have 5 different vendors to choose from. They have Egg Slut for elite breakfast sandwiches-they have Fat + Flour for elite pies and cookie options. In the mood for a sandwich-they have Ghost Sando making incredible sandwiches on their famous Dutch crust rolls. Feel like some ice cream?....They have SoCal's famous ice cream from MCconnells-which is ice cream on a whole different level-they have a See's Candy collaboration ice cream that is to die for. Feeling like a beer to take the edge off?...They got Golden Road Brewing serving up their legendary suds-can you say Mango Road with a Tajin-rimmed glass-yep they got that. Everyone has room for a donut....They have the legendary The Donut Man who has been blessing SoCal with their donuts for over 50 years-their fresh strawberry donut is what put them on the map-a must try. Needless to say-these are just a few of the spots that are in the Grand Central Market-there are so many that I haven't even mentioned-they basically will have something for every palette to assure everyone leaves Grand Central satisfied. This was my 1st visit here and my party of 4 tasted food from 5 different vendors/restaurants and everything was amazingly delicious and yet felt like I barely scratched the surface of what they have to offer-I feel like I could come back here many more times and still have a different experience every time-I really love Grand Central Market and couldn't recommend this place high enough. PS-in case it wasn't clear-I will be sure to add a stop at Grand Central Market to every trip I make to SoCal from this day forward-it's that special-Be Kind Out There.
Iconic spot in Los Angeles. I enjoy every visit. There is a great variety of options for some good grub and drinks, from classic businesses that have been here forever to new ones. There is something for everyone. Walking distance to a bunch of other spots in DTLA.
I came on a Friday afternoon after work and it was pretty crowded already. There are so many great food options, and it's hard to choose one. So I didn't. We split up and got tacos and kimchi fried rice. We found a table in the front seating area and got beer from Golden Road. The prices are pretty typical high local prices but that seems to be how everything is these days. I would love to come back and try different or even the same food options.
I've been coming to Grand Central Market since I briefly lived in DTLA back in 2021, and to this day I'm still discovering new spots to try. One of my favorite things about GCM is the variety. As someone who can be a little indecisive when it comes to food, having so many great quality options all in one place is honestly the best. Whether you're craving something savory, sweet, or a little bit of everything, you'll find it here. The space itself is huge, and even if you can't grab seating right at the vendor you ordered from, there's plenty of seating throughout both inside and outside which makes it way less stressful than you'd expect. Now, I'm not usually a fan of big crowds or chaotic environments, but there's just something about the energy, the atmosphere, and of course the food that keeps pulling me back. My go-to recommendations: For The Win - delicious smash burgers Bento Ya - great bento boxes, always hits Nonna's Empanadas China Cafe Villa's Tacos For something sweet: McConnell's Fine Ice Cream - the churro flavor is a must Bastion Bakery - don't skip the chocolate walnut cookies La Huerta - for their nostalgic candies And that's honestly just scratching the surface--they've got pupusas, lobster rolls, Thai food, donuts, pasta, and so much more. So many great options all in one place, and a lot of them are actually super budget-friendly, which is a huge plus. If you're in the area and can't decide where to eat, do yourself a favor and come here. I love walking around, scoping out all the options before deciding. Whether I'm on a solo foodie adventure or grabbing a bite with a friend. Can't wait to see what I try next.
My family and I hadn't been to Grand Central Market in a while, so we decided to swing by last Saturday evening. We got lucky and found street parking nearby, and it was just a short walk to the market. Just a heads-up, there are a lot of homeless people in the area, and it can get a bit smelly outside even if you take a short walk. It's always crowded there, but we absolutely love this GCM for the wide variety of food vendors. Even if you are an indecisive eater, you are guaranteed to find something you like here. The food we tried at a few different places was pretty good, and we had fun exploring the global flavors. As a fun bonus, we got to take a picture with the Shohei Ohtani backdrop inside. After we finished up dinner, we walked right across the street to Angels Flight. It's still one of the best spots in LA to discover great food and soak in the city vibe.
Great vibes and a terrific variety of cuisine options! TONS of seating, and staff does a pretty good job keeping the tables clean for the amount of foot traffic the market receives. It's a great spot for a group dinner if you want to split up and share a few bites from a lot of different spots. I'd definitely recommend!
I really wanted to love Grand Central Market because on paper it checks all the boxes. It's a huge, lively food hall right in the heart of downtown with tons of vendors, bright lights, and that chaotic energy that usually makes a place feel exciting instead of overwhelming. I went toward the end of the night while things were winding down, and even then you could tell this place has serious potential when it's fully buzzing. There's a little bit of everything, from tacos to comfort food, and it feels like one of those spots you could keep coming back to just to try something new each time. That said, the food I tried was just okay, nothing bad but nothing that made me think "I need to come back ASAP." Parking was also more annoying than expected, and I later realized there's a structure on-site which would've saved me the hassle if I had known. What really killed the experience for me, though, was the security. And I don't say this lightly. They were straight up rude, sitting around acting like they ran the place, and making comments in Spanish assuming I wouldn't understand. I heard everything, and it wasn't okay. It's one thing to enforce rules, it's another to be disrespectful for no reason. That completely shifted the vibe from fun and chaotic to uncomfortable and off-putting. Because of that alone, it's hard for me to see myself coming back anytime soon. It sucks, because this place could easily be a go-to spot with the right energy and staff, but that interaction left a bad taste that the food couldn't make up for.

It was pretty busy on a Sunday afternoon, and you could definitely tell which spots were the most popular by the lines. Overall, it's a cool little vibe. From hot food and desserts to produce and fresh juices, it's nice having so many options all in one spot. You can enter from Broadway or 3rd Street, which makes it easy to access.
Walking into Grand Central Market feels like stepping into a living menu where the only real problem is committing to just one thing. Every corner pulls you in a different direction and somehow everything smells like the best decision you haven't made yet. This place is a one stop playground for bold no nonsense food. You can start with a flaky empanada, wander over for tacos that remind you why simple ingredients done right still win, and before you know it you are holding a pupusa wondering why you ever thought one meal was enough. If you make it to Villas Tacos do not hesitate those tacos alone are worth the trip. It is chaotic in the best way. Loud busy a little overwhelming but that is part of the charm. Go with people who like to eat share everything and take your time. Grand Central Market is not just a place to grab food it is a full experience where curiosity pays off and indecision is part of the fun.
Ahh yes, Grand Central Market. This place was on my bucket list for years now and I'm glad I crossed it off. Definitely a must check out spot in downtown LA. It's open air so listen, if you go during a hot sunny day like I did, you're going to need something cold to cool you down. I suggest a 40 or a cold brew if you don't drink lol Or I would say, bring those battery operated personal fans. I tried Villas Tacos, and I love the use of blue corn tortilla. They got a sampler dish if you don't know what to eat. I also ate Thai food, and that was amazing too. Literally, so many spots to try out. Food heaven for the foodies. Parking. I mean, I paid at the lot next to it but I paid $10 before a certain hour.. all day too! I think there's a parking garage next to it but idk the prices or anything. Definitely a must try. Nice array of food options for a fraction of the price of a nearby dine in restaurant. The portions are large at most establishments and one serving could feed two! That was my experience at Tomas' tacos. I ordered 2 tacos for $5 each. I thought the price points was high until I realized I could make 4 tacos from 1! And they tasted good. My daughter had a burger fries from a neighboring business and she said it was delicious. I tasted her fries and those were definitely delicious. For dessert, we opted for McConnells ice cream. The flavors were unique and good. They offered samples when requested which was a nice gesture but their portions were tiny. I paid $8 for 4oz cop of ice cream. The Central Market is definitely worth visiting. There were celebrity chef demonstrations and meals available as well as multiple food options to choose from. read more

The ORIGINAL FOOD HALL! Grand Central Market is an essential stop for folks who've never been to LA before. GCM has been a part of my childhood as my parents brought me here a lot so we can try multiple eateries. It's the catalyst for the SoCal food hall concept before it became a trend. You'll find American classics, Mexican, Thai, Japanese, Salvadoran, Brunch, Donuts, Ice Cream and everything in between! I recently visited to stop by at Sticky Rice! It's a bit touristy and you'll find a few posers in the crowd but it's still a local classic and it hasn't lost its charm. If you're like me and you enjoy the sounds of hustle and bustle while you eat, you'll enjoy it here. Food is LA priced, don't expect to find a value menu. Even if you're on a budget, check out the dessert spots at least, one overpriced, high-quality donut is better than a $70 meal. Service is pretty solid, I didn't encounter any rude staff during my recent visit. read more

Grand Central Market is a lively, energetic food hall with a variety of cuisines all under one roof. The atmosphere is buzzing, with vendors serving everything from quick bites to full meals, making it easy to wander, explore, and sample a little of everything. We stopped by not long after breakfast, so we weren't particularly hungry--but it still felt impossible not to try something. We ended up ordering a few raw oysters and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, which turned out to be the perfect light stop. The oysters were fresh, and the wine made for a great pairing. Next time, we'll definitely come back with a bigger appetite to fully experience everything the market has to offer. With so many tempting options, this is the kind of place you want to explore on an empty stomach. If you're visiting Los Angeles, Grand Central Market is absolutely worth adding to your list. I absolutely love this place! There's pretty much an option no matter what cuisine you have in mind. From sweets, to soups, to hot plates, seafood, etc. there's something for everyone, and I feel like you get good bang for your buck. The service, vibe, and value that I've gotten each time I come are on par! You get a good lunch for a good price, and the fun of walking through the market-style hall. This particular time, I went to Donut Man. They had a variety of donuts available, and there were bees everywhere, meaning the ingredients must be fresh! My donuts were delicious! I usually eat at this El Salvadorian restaurant in the market, and I get the fried tilapia plate! It's to die for! 10/10 each time. Fun, social place to grab lunch. Probably one of the last gems remaining in the downtown area. read more
I had a great time here! There were different types of culture foods here and there are also ice cream vendor, and donut shop call The Donut Man, their specialty is the Fresh Strawberry Donut and seriously the strawberries are fresh!! Prices are mixed, as each vendor has their own prices. I also tried Villa's Tacos, they originated the Blue Tortillas and they are awarded the Michelin Bib Gourmand 2023, 2024 & 2025. We park street parking on Sunday. But they have garage parking at 308 S. Hill Street. Market hours are from 8a to 9p, but Vendor hours vary. read more

A bustling food hall in downtown LA with a stall that sells fresh fruit & veggies. Korean, Salvadorian, and more abound in this sprawling market. We ate at the spectacular Shiku and enjoyed some ice cream from McConnell's afterwards. Restrooms downstairs and a large affordable parking garage make this a wonderful lunch stop. read more

Very nice dining hall in the heart of LA. They have wide selection of restaurants and deserts stores. Very convenient for people work nearby. Value wise is also good and competitive. I saw few taco restaurants. Thai restaurant look also promising and I need to try it next time. This food hall is one of my regular rotation. read more

Good lively inviting atmosphere Great selection of food beverage and sweet treats We sampled food from 6 different locations and loved all of them Prices are fair for the area $14 nachos $13 for 2 empanadas Service from what we experienced was friendly and inviting We would definitely visit again read more
Just looking back, it's been 7 years since my last review about this place. Damn how time flies by when you're having fun.... lol....Spent the afternoon strolling through downtown and needed a check up to see if anything has change here. It's still lively and bustling as it's always been. We walked through during lunch time so it was pretty busy. You literally have everything and anything that you want. A bar area if you just want a drink, there's Mexican food, bbq, a few options on Asian food, empanadas, and even McConnell ice cream. So many options of food for everyone. There's also the little market right in the middle with fresh produce. If you're looking to dine in, majority of the vendors do have seating but they're quite small. Some have bar top seating where you can actually watch as your food is being prepared. Walking through and just checking out to see what was available makes you want to try everything. There's two entrance from either side of Broadway and Hill. It's an open concept very much as if you were walking through pike place in Seattle. There's seating along the outside on broadway. To the opposite side is where the angel flight is. There's always new things popping up I assume as it's been years since I walked through. Food options are great. It's more of an easy eat so if you're expecting table service, this may not be the place for you. But if you want to experience some LA fun dining, this maybe one to try. read more
Grand Central Market is an LA landmark for a reason. It's one of the best spots in Downtown LA when you want options -- and I mean real options. So many different cuisines, all under one roof. I noticed a few new vendors this time, including Miznon (Israeli street food), which was a great addition and my go to in Vegas. The whole place feels vibrant, busy, and full of energy. It's loud, it's packed, and it works. What I love most? The competition. You have to be good to survive here. There's no room for mediocre. I visited Grand Central Market in Downtown LA -- a huge food market with tons of cafes and vendors . There's a great variety of food options and literally something for every family member to choose from, which I really liked . But honestly... it was too crowded and noisy -- it felt like everyone decided to come on a weekend . The lines were long and the atmosphere wasn't as enjoyable because of the mess and the crowd. I enjoyed the food itself, but the vibe wasn't my style, and I wouldn't come back again . Too much hustle and bustle for me! read more
Opened in 1917 GCM is the oldest open-air market in the city of Los Angeles. I had been here a few times as a kid. Back then it was mainly produce and stalls with dry goods. There was a fishmonger, a butcher, and a few places to eat. Years ago, I worked up on Grand and my co-workers and I would take Angel's Flight down to get pupusas from here. They were so good! My friend and I happened to walk by and so we went in. I was surprised by how much it has changed. It's more of a food hall now with a variety of ethnic food stands and trendy eateries. We got there before 11 am so only a few places were opened. They still sell fresh produce and there was a cute little wine bar, which would be a great spot to sit and people watch. It's also a suitable place for a group gathering because there is something for everyone. They also host special events such as the GMC Bazaar, which is every weekend from 11 am - 5 pm on the lower lever, live Mariachi every last Sunday of the month from 1 - 3 pm, music at the market every first Friday from 6 pm - 8 pm, and more. So this is where LA commoners dine-in. Let's begin this food market adventure. GCM (est. 1917) is a massive food court that continues to bring together the cuisines and cultures of Los Angeles. With over 40 vendors the market is open daily from 8am to 9pm. It was my first time ever at GCM! And I was blown the sheer popularity of this place especially tourist. I explored and did an in-depth menu review of every vendor in this market. Half an hour later, I end up at Sticky Rice to grab lunch. (Review will be separate) It's clean and organized market. However, you'll smell every food and you'll end up taking it home with you. lol. Parking lot is available at the basement. Overall, it's a nice public food market. read more
Good touristy place to stop by and grab a bite & drink, Angel's Flight Railway is across the street. Dog "friendly" but this place is super packed. 100% highly recommend getting an empanada- the line moves quick so we got this to go. 4/5 Villa's taco 4/5 Los Tostaderia The burger was good except that our bottom bun was "wet" from the veggies and was sitting while they waited for the sampler to be made, which made it super hard to eat as it was falling apart but the flavor was delicious! We've been to a lot of food markets but this was our first time to the one in LA. We were there during lunch on a Friday so it was very busy and had good energy. We did a lap to look at our options but ended up at Tacos Tumbras a Tomas. There was a line so we figured that was a good sign. The portion sizes are HUGE. I ordered 2 tacos but he gave me extra tortillas so 2 tacos turned into 4 (which I could not finish). My husband ordered a burrito which was also huge and he wasn't able to finish. We both felt like the flavor was lacking. The "spicy" sauce wasn't very spicy, or maybe there just wasn't enough of it. It was good but I wouldn't go back because there were so many other good options. I also ended up getting a scoop of ice cream at McConnell's and it was super good, I would highly recommend stopping there for a scoop! read more
Grand Central Market is one of those places I keep coming back to when I'm downtown and can't decide what I'm craving. You can literally walk a few steps and go from Thai to Japanese, then grab Mexican, Chinese, or classic American comfort food without leaving the building. It's perfect when everyone in your group wants something different. The energy is fun and lively, especially on weekends. It does get crowded, so expect to circle a bit for seating and stand in line during peak hours. But that's part of the experience. You feel the buzz of the city all around you. I love that you can make it a mini food tour in one stop. Start savory, grab a drink, then end with something sweet. Every visit feels a little different depending on what you're in the mood for. Grand central market has evolved over the years. It used to be a place where people can buy groceries and all that jazz but now is covered with more and more eateries. Not a single bite disappointed here! Highlights: The Michelin star taco at villa. Not normal. Not your average taco either. The crispy cheese base is a whole new level. The lobster roll was crazy yummy. Buttery soft and just hit the right spot. The sushi - who woulda thunk - freaking insane. The salmon is melted and there's a $25 deal for 6-8 Pieces totally worth it. And the donuts. With the tail the size of my arm the fluffy buttery dough will give you a sugar rush and make you so happy. What a fun experience grazing through this food hall while in LA! This spot is a perfect mix of what LA is and does. It's a mix of love and different types of food. From the color, the shops, and areas worth INSTAGRAM. I love the variety of food shops, places to sit and watch, and make a deal with the next cook you say hello to. Hahah! I love the quick service of food, Knick knacks, and candy. I used to love coming to GCM whenever I found myself in DTLA, so I was excited to grab lunch here last weekend; it's been years since I've been! The vibe hasn't changed at all. Some vendors have changed, but it's still the same food market I loved. Although I will say that one thing DID change; the restrooms. The restrooms are remodeled, bigger, and clean with a security personnel outside so it's safer - such a massive improvement! read more

Grand Central Market is a busy and active food hall in downtown Los Angeles. It has a unique Los Angeles flair, with a huge Dodgers Ohtani mural, a huge neon sign, and an urban warehouse-style environment. During lunchtime, there's always an eclectic mix of people moving through, from businessmen in suits, to everyday folks, to tourists looking around wide-eyed. You'll see people watching the Dodgers game if one is on, and tour groups shuffling through on their various journeys. Restaurant-wise, there are more than a dozen different places to choose from, with a few mainstay choices, and a few others that have rotated in and out over time. The offerings range from Mexican, to Asian, to American, and everything in between. Most of the places have pretty good options and food, as it takes something a bit special to survive in such a crowded and competitive environment. Service is typically pretty fast though you may need to wait at some of the more popular places. Being downtown LA parking is not the most convenient thing but you can find some if you are willing to pay. Whether you come to eat, or just stroll through, it is an interesting environment. Came here for the first time on Dia De Los Muertos weekend and this place was beyond packed. There was little to no space to move around in here. Most of the food places had extremely long lines, especially some of the very popular taco places. The parking is also a mess, and I believe if you're parking on site it's about $25. There was some kind of pop up bar in the rooftop and we decided to check it out. We tried waiting for the elevator but there was only one in service and the line was out of control. We took the 10 flights of stairs up and they were pretty disgusting and smelly. The pop up bar upstairs was pretty underwhelming and there was almost nowhere to sit and enjoy. The food choices themselves were pretty underwhelming as well. I don't think I will be returning here anytime soon. read more

There are only a few that I have ever seen that have the sign on their stall. And the only places I know of in all of DTLA are fast food places like Farmer Boys.
