Overall, I'm very happy with how the project turned out. The installation itself went well, and the crew did a good job keeping the work areas organized and putting the yard back together after the trenching. The real test came after a heavy storm, when I noticed some pooling and settling along portions of the restored trenches. I contacted Ea, the project manager, and he took the concerns seriously. He arranged for a crew to come back out, and they ended up addressing both sides of the house. They lifted and regraded the affected sod, added material underneath to help with settling, cleaned out the drain lines, and thoroughly flushed and tested both downspouts and emitters to make sure everything was flowing correctly. Ea also followed up with photos and videos documenting the work, which I appreciated. What impressed me most was that they didn't argue about the concerns or disappear once the original job was completed. They came back, corrected the issues, tested the system, and made sure I was satisfied with the result. The drainage system is functioning properly now and the yard looks much better. Based on both the quality of the work and the way Aloha ʻĀina handled the follow-up, I would definitely recommend them.

They listened to my concerns and got me in touch with the person in the incident, as well as relaying the situation to the supervisor. The employee in the incident, with me, was very apologetic and accountable. In a society where accountability and responsibility seems rare, they took care of me and made sure I was left satisfied, cared for, and I felt reassurance, safe, and most importantly I felt valued. I am grateful for their employee who came forward and was genuinely and sincerely apologetic and I am incredibly appreciative of the secretary and supervisor for their assistance in mediating the situation. I wanted to note that I was not a paying or even potential client. I'm just a normal person who had an incident with one of their employees, and they did more than their part to make sure I was taken care of and leave me feeling worthy and value. If this is how they treat people, then I can imagine that they treat clients with the absolute and utmost respect and care. If I ever need landscaping services, or if I have people in my circles and connections who need it, i will be referring Murakami Landscaping because of how incredibly professional, accountable, and respectful they were. The owner was very happy to come over, assess what was done, and to try to help me out! I guess also I wanted to ensure I'm not just being "that stupid lady"! *you know what I'm talking about* So he comes over - his first impression - the job wasn't done! He definitely encouraged me to straighten that out - and I will! But now to his business: Extremely knowledgable (I mean hello, he's in the business so he better dang well be!) To be honest - I cannot speak on pricing as it can ALL vary depending on what you want done! At a minimum he can charge $80 for lawn service (and I believe that is per visit), all the way up to $300 DEPENDING on what you need/want done. But the fact he took the time of day to help me better understand my lawn issues, and what follow up stuff I need to address with our current lawn maintenance folks (or hubby), THAT makes him stand out in my mind! :) He also even gave me some easy tips for some typical pesky nuisances around here for my fruit trees! Also gave me some cost saving efforts to attack the never ending battle of the weeds - something I really do appreciate. THAT speaks MILLIONS to me of how this guys work ethic is! The gentlemen that was there helped us pick it out and was very clear on the fact that we didn't want the smaller more common flower tree. We paid a pretty penny extra for this rare variety. It's been a year, it has finally blossomed and low and behold, to much of our disappointment it's the standard sized flower variety. I called the nursery and the guy I spoke too wasn't even remotely apologetic nor did he give any kind of option to remedy the problem. Just kept saying "I don't know, I don't know." And I'm like no I'm trying to tell you you guys sold us the wrong puakenikeni and you should make good bc we give you lots of business. I am a frequent plant nursery shopper. We landscaped and installed an irrigation system for our entire backyard and purchased all our plants and trees from nurseries in Waimanalo. I put my trust in the people who work at the nurseries that they are knowledgable and trustworthy when we ask them to pull plants for us. I have had this problem before with another nursery when they were supposed to pull 5 of the same heliconia variety and we ended up with 4 different types of heliconia, but when I called them and showed pictures they were so apologetic and credited us for new plants and we were able to get new ones. I am very disappointed in Akamai Nursery and hoped they would make good on their mistake, but nope. We have spent almost $1000 there and going forward I will take my business elsewhere. If you are like me and just want to have your garden or landscaping done now and don't want to wait years for the plants to grow to make your place look nice then this is the place you need to come. They literally have acres of land that one of the workers can either drive you around or they will bring the plants up to you. We were fortunate to have the owner take us around. We showed him some pictures of the plants we were looking for and he knew exactly where they were and drove us to look at the plants and to pick which ones we wanted. To some the plants maybe on the high side but you are paying for the years they had to take care of the plants to get to that stage of maturity. They also have young plants as well and they are very price competitive. As always do your homework on which plants you are looking for and hopefully you have the names and pictures to show them. We will be back for sure for all our garden and landscaping needs.
