Allure Ultra Lounge is one of two nightlife spots connected to the El Dorado Resort and Casino on…read morethe Shreveport riverfront. Allure is the upstairs, while sister club Celebrity Lounge is downstairs. There is one DJ for both floors, but there's a larger dance floor at Celebrity. Surrounding the dance floor at Celebrity are comfy chairs and tables, so if you need a break from shaking your groove thing, you don't have to go far. Keep in mind, this is Shreveport we're talking about, so don't go in expecting a nightclub reminiscent of your bachelor party in Vegas or Miami Beach. But the music is bumping, the liquor flows like, well, liquor, and everyone there is just looking to have a good time. During my visit, DJ Diamond (http://www.dj-diamond.com/) was womanning the turntables. I must admit that the most "alluring" part of the club was the DJ camera that seemed to always be focused on her bountiful, bouncing you-know-whats. This is not a bad thing. My brother and his friend were involved in a fierce battle about how much actual mixing Diamond was doing, but I didn't care. I was happy to pump my fist to Party Rock Anthem and enjoy the view from the balcony down to the main dance floor and stage where Diamond was sparkling. Grab a few friends, put on your fancy shoes, hit the casino and then make your way to Allure. You won't feel like you're in Norther Louisiana.

The bouncers at Celebrity were incredibly rude and the club was dirty. Definitely won't be back.read more

But table seating was available. After taking a couple minutes to decide. I chose the shrimp poboy. It was delivered at 12:05, with the tails on. Before I could eat, I had to pull them off. It was fantastic. So I guess I'll be okay. By 12:20 I was cashing out lunch for one $20. They issued a 20% discount for my military id.

So, we ended up here--the only place open that wasn't serving up blackjack with a side of fries. First up: water. Now, if you've never had Louisiana tap water, let me tell you--it tastes like someone steeped a bag of potting soil in it for 12 hours. I was about to blame this restaurant until a little Google dive informed me that most of Louisiana water just tastes like this due to geosmin and MIB (algae bloom byproducts, apparently). Fun fact that nobody asked for, but here we are. Anyway, we pivoted HARD to cocktails. I ordered a Belvedere martini, which was well-made by Dustin but oddly expensive considering this wasn't exactly a swanky downtown hotspot. For dinner: Hubbs went for shrimp fettuccine, and while it was fine, it didn't exactly make us want to write home about it. I, on the other hand, ordered Natchitoches meat pies, thinking they'd be the real deal imported from the famous place there. Oh, how naive I was. Instead, they were sad little impostors, baked instead of fried, and just...meh. Final bill: almost $100 for four drinks and two average entrées. If we're dropping that kinda cash, I'd prefer a meal that didn't require an emergency cocktail switch just to recover from the water.

I was in Shreveport for work. Collectively we decided on a steak. We went on a Monday (about a week…read moreago) and were informed they don't serve food on Monday or Tuesday. The bar was open so we had a couple. Trivia was getting fired up and everyone was hungry so we left. Back on the following Wednesday we sat in the Continental Room, just off the bar to the left when you go into the establishment. I was thinking...it would be packed. The three of us were the only folks eating at around 6:30 pm. The waiter comes out, asks what we want to drink. Beer for two of us and wine for my boss. I scan the menu and there are a lot of choices in when it comes to steak. Two of ordered the ribeye and my boss ordered the filet. The dining room is small with several tables for a family, some dudes eating after work or a cool place for a date. Maybe a little dated but the service was very good. The waiter was on top of the drinks and the food. Salads came out almost immediately. I had the wedge salad with Italian dressing. Very fresh lettuce and not too much dressing. Everyone else was happy with their salads. I ordered another Yuengling (in a bottle-nothing on tap) and the steaks were out shortly thereafter. The meat covered a lot of the plate. I ordered medium well and it came a little under done but was still very good. Bang for the buck you can't do better. The au gratin potatoes were ok. I have never had potatoes like that before. I would try them again. The Cub itself has been there since 1939. Definitely a dive bar feel. Brick building, solid and well built. Definitely will try for a repeat if/when I'm back in Shreveport. If you're in town give them a try. Service in the Continental room is very good, food is of good quality and not too expensive.

Unfortunately, after paying a man basically screamed at us tell us to go upstairs because we purchased a VIP wrist brand. Keyword VIP, well their was no VIP access just able to go upstairs to their club area. Meanwhile, it was not VIP material, My friend bought a drink that was 16.99 and was served in a plastic punch cup. I asked for a sweet red wine, I was informed that the upstairs bar did not have wine only downstairs. I was confused because the gentleman that was yelling wouldn't even let us near the bar downstairs. The bartender apologized and said if you pay I will go get it for you. Well, another gentleman came an told her downstairs bar was closed and she couldn't go get any wine. So, this was a double inconvenience for me, when I was highly interested in having the upscale bar and lounge experience. I do understand the establishment is new, however management, if it was managment they should work on their communication and customer service. An elegance should be established throughout the entire build not just downstairs.
