Such a fun event. It was very humid weather for a girl from Las Vegas... but the atmosphere was energized and everyone was so friendly I forgot I was sweating. And there was a little homemade Italian Ice trailer that had delicious creations which I had both days I was there. Amazing music and dancing. Fun trinkets at the vendors. And most important the food and drinks were great! I thought the prices were great and if you arrive early on Friday the rings are even discounted. Great place to eat and listen to the music. Relaxing and enjoying and walking around

Dont get me wrong. I had a good time. If you are a native of Shreveport, then by all means go to this. But this place is definitely a weak three. But in hindsight, this festival was forgetable. Mediocre bands, mediocre food, and mediocre rides. The main attraction is to eat crawfish (which was great), but I feel a little empty inside after the event. It doesnt help that the crawfish they advertise on their website was 3lbs for 8 dollars, but I ended up only receiving a pound at 8 dollars. I was done with the festival after two hours. Its really small and you can get from one end of the festival to the other in less than fifteen minutes. I will say the State Fair of Texas has spoiled me, but what is was, its certainly not roadtrip worthy. I just happened to be in town that weekend. read more

Mudbug Madness is awesome. It's one of my favorite events in Shreveport. Festivals like Mudbug is what living in Louisiana is all about. There's an abundance of great food. Your options include: boiled crawfish, etouffe, alligator on a stick, sausage on a stick, fried pickles, nachos, po-boys, fries, funnel cakes, cheesecake, popsicles, and on and on and on. There's plenty of beer, and a large plastic cup only costs $4, which is quite reasonable. There's great music: zydeco, Cajun bands, rock bands, folk musicians, and more. There are activities for kids, including some arts and crafts, games, and rides. There's a 5K race to kick things off on Thursday night, and there's a fireworks display to close up shop on Sunday night. And you're right downtown, so there are lots of options of places to go once the festival closes at 11 p.m. Like I said before -- Mudbug Madness is awesome. :) read more

Great family fun! The focus is on crawfish and music, but there's plenty of other great food to enjoy like shrimp, alligator, red beans, jambalaya, meat pies, fried cheesecake, and so many others. I grew up in Louisiana but have lived in Texas for almost 30 years. We've been taking friends to this festival for over 20 years now so they can experience some of what I enjoyed so much about growing up there. read more

This is one of the best festivals we have in town! I highly, highly recommend you come here. You will definitely have a great time. The food, music, cold beer and all of the arts and crafts along with the kids things to do is fantastic! Adults and children of all ages have fun. They have a shuttle at the mall to drive you back and forth at no charge to you, but please be courteous and tip the drivers. These drivers put up with a lot. They get passengers that had a little too much to drink, and have to put up with people on the road. The Ribeye steak sandwich is off the chain! I was very disappointed with the Natchitoches meat pie for $4, it was not good. I'd rather have frozen in the box from the grocery store. I don't know why it didn't taste good. It's not like some delicious ones I've had at different places. The crawfish along with the potatoes and corn were great! read more

It was nice to be out and about. The atomosphere was nice. The turkey legs at Louisiana Soul Food were the best tasting most reasonably priced food we bought. The funnel cakes and snow cones were great as well. Will I do it again next year? I don't know. My only complaint was the website for the festival advertised 3lbs of crawfish for $8.00. Far far far far from the truth. Brought my crawfish from 2 different places and what I got was Maaaaaybe a pound of luke warn crawfish. 2 potatoes and 1 corn for $8.00. The crawfish and the reasonable price was 95% of the reason I drove 3 hrs from Dallas and to barely get a pound for $8.00 I could have stayed in dallas and paid that amount. I'm originally from Baton Rouge and I'm not accustomed to paying that much for crawfish especially when the flavor was so so. The picture showed one thing and to get there and get a lil styrofoam plate with a few crawfish was a HUGE disappointment. Not enough for the kids a well. Guess I expected too much.
