The Staten Island location of DSW is massive, clean, organized, and filled with aisles and aisles of moderately priced men's and women's shoes. No children's or luxury items here, but you'll find lots of casual, evening, active and professional footwear under $150 in the regularly priced sections, but the real steals are in the sale section at the back of the store. Of all of the DSW's I've visited, this one consistently has a well stocked sale section. I have a common shoe size and found that other locations run out of the stylish sale shoes quickly. Today I purchased a great pair of Guess wedges for $30. What a great find! Only complaint is the checkout line. It took 15-20 minutes. There were only two cashiers available and at least 7 guests waiting to purchase their items. A third cashier became available only after I approached the manager who had been pacing between the registers and the front of the store. The issue was resolved almost immediately but a customer shouldn't have to complain to get a swift check out. Nonetheless, the selection of shoes is fantastic and the sales are even better. read more

Not the biggest DSW store that I've been to, but finally found a hiking shoe/ boot that I was looking for. Tried several stores in the area, Modell's & Dicks just to name a few. The salesman pointed me in the direction of what I was looking for and they just weren't meeting my needs. Actually was ready to walk out when over just one aisle I found them. Geared mainly for women and kids, these stores are a basically a brand name shoppers paradise. Pretty decent selection of men's shoes are available. A lot less chaotic than larger shoe stores . If their is anything that I like, it's a good bargain. Purchased what I was looking for and saved $40 off the marked price. Just because they had a red dot on the box. Merrill was the original brand, but settled on a pair of Wolverines instead. Hey it's certainly better than going to the SI Mall. Such a deal. read more

So it's almost like they don't want to sell you shoes. I walked in and asked for a size and the guy working there, said to me that he can't get it because they're short staffed and he's by himself in the stock room... if you work in the stock room then isn't it your job specifically to get shoes from the back? He said order them online for curbside pick up. So that's what I did since I needed a specific kind of shoe for work. And the next day they canceled the order when I called the women who answered had such an attitude saying that they're short staffed and prob got canceled because they don't have anyone to go get the shoe from the stock room. I placed an online order. I went to pick it up and after waiting on a ten minute line, I gave the girl my info for her to grab my order. I'm standing there another ten minutes and the girl never came back. I had to ask another cashier for assistance and she took another 5 minutes. So now 25 minutes later I finally get my order. The cashier just handed me the box of shoes and pocketbook, no bag, no receipt. This was definitely not a good experience and I will not be returning there to shop. read more

This store used to be fine but now a disaster. The sales staff is almost non existent. The man at the register the last couple of times that I was there is nasty , incompetent and rude. The checkout is extremely slow and the management apparently doesn't care that the customers are inconvenienced by this. Pretty nice store, it's large and the selection is its strength. I was actually surprised by how wide a variety of shoes were actually pretty affordable. I didn't think $90 could buy you so many options, at least for males. read more

Went here to find a simple pair of jogging shoes. I wear a size 7 and of course that was the one size that was missing from the shelf. I asked the gentleman to see if there was a pair In the back. Turns out there was but it took at least 15 mins. Other then that I woulda gave five stars because over selection is very good and the prices are reasonable. read more

their website says they close at 9 and i arrived at their store at around 7:45. doors were locked but there was a doorbell that i had to ring so i did multiple times and nothing happened. there was about 5 workers in there watching me standing outside confused and wouldn't do a thing. like have some decency to tell a customer what's going on or if y'all closed early.... it ain't hard at all. i can feel the nasty attitude through the glass and i tried to knock like multiple times and got ignored at all. like honestly im so confused a simple "sorry we're closed" could've had me going on my away but they chose arrogance instead!!! never going back. read more

I actually hate this store. I know it sounds crazy for a girl to dislike a shoe store but I never spend more than $80 on shoes and with that criteria the selection is VERY limited. I've always liked shopping at DSW there are so many choices, brands that I like and reasonable prices. But today has sealed the deal for me. I basically went in to ask a question about a pair of sneakers I had purchased a while ago that had ripped and I didn't have the receipt.
