I've gotten my shoes there for a few years now. The people who work there are extremely helpful and have no issues helping you size up your feet if necessary. It's a small shop and very personal in terms of interaction. You walk in, you talk shoes and needs, you can even point out some shoes in their catalog and they'll head into the back to see if they have them. I've never had any issues. read more

My mother, who is 90 years old, has been looking for shoes for over 15 years, to fit her bad feet. She has spent lots of money on shoes trying to break them in only to find it was impossible. Then we discovered Styl-O-Pedic Shoes on Staten Island. The staff was professional, attentive and kind; they knew their business and they adjusted the fit of the shoe to her needs. While we were there, I observed their caring professionalism in action with the younger school age children. I can not say enough good things about this store and their staff. Oh my goodness - the workers in this store ooze nasty! Went to purchase shoes for my son for school. First of all, I don't know what kind of arrangement - perhaps a kickback - the Catholic schools have with this establishment but they seem to think it gives them the right to be rude to customers. I was speaking with the girl w hio was measuring my son for shoes and asked her to double check the "chosen" shoes for the school because they looked different from the shoes I had previously purchased. The older saleslady interjected that the other girl was sure and there was no need to check. ??? I explained to her that they looked different than the last pair and she replied that "I must have bought them somewhere else because they ALWAYS give the correct shoes that the school picks". God bless the young girl who was measuring, when she said that the store had a record for my son and it turns out they HAD given my son different shoes. Old saleslady walked away mumbling "well, I don't know.....". Another old salesman who was clueless as to what was going on felt the need to speak up and say "nobody from our store would ever give a customer the wrong shoes". I said "well, your records say otherwise". He took a look at the card and walked away. I asked measure girl how much the shoes were and she said $75.00. I said "forget it".....I also checked the school guidelines again and there is nowhere listed that shows must be purchased from this store. Hello Zappos! Found something comparable in style for $20.00 less. It was also disturbing to hear how they spoke to the elderly customers who were in the store as well. They could claim that those customers are hard of hearing and need to be spoken to in a loud voice but there is no excuse for a belittling tone. Mom needed new shoes and this is the perfect place! Not only were the staff attentive to her needs at nearly 90yo, they were spent quality time showing multiple pairs of shoes and styles. While we got only one pair, a week later mom asked me when I was going to order the shoe in a different color. Mom like's to be fashionable. read more

Best experience we have ever had. We went in for a consultation, but ended up buying insoles and even ordering a pair of shoes. However, we were not pressed for any sales! Margaret personally took my existing shoes (athletic running shoes) and stretched the toe boxes out for me. She and Ron both spent one-on-one time with me and spoke to my wife and me at length about my foot issues as well as shoe and insole needs. I have a visible physical disability that also affects my feet and toes, but they never hesitated towards me or treated me differently. We were blown away at their level of professionalism and friendliness. They legitimately care about me and never rushed us or forced any sales. Styl-O-Pedic (and the marvelous Margaret and Ron) have our full recommendation. We will be repeat customers and absolutely will refer others here at any chance we get. I have been a customer of Styl-O-Pedic for decades. I used to buy my school uniform shoes from them growing up, and now I buy my child's school uniform shoes there. While I've mostly had good experiences, I was very disappointed with my most recent visit. The woman with the short brown haircut had an attitude and seemed as if she didn't want to help me find the right shoes for my child, who had a foot injury. I asked 2 simple questions to determine which shoe and which size would be best for my child during her recovery and this woman literally told me I was taking too long. She said it nastily and didn't even make eye contact the whole time. As a loyal and paying customer, and as a caring parent, I have every right to ask questions to get the right shoe for my injured child. I don't have to buy the first shoe they throw at me if there are other options available. She was very rude to me and I've never experienced this at the store or any other shoe store for that matter. If they weren't the only store on Staten Island affiliated with the Catholic schools then I would've taken my money elsewhere. I'm still trying to find the shoes online so I can take them back. They don't deserve a dime from me for disrespecting me in front of my kid. read more
