However, this was the closest location for LL Bean so I gave it a shot. This store is much larger than I expected, but the staff were very kind and helpful. I had never been to an LL Bean before so it was a tad overwhelming trying to find the exact pants I was searching for on my own. I was thankful for the help, and also for not judging me based on my size. As a bigger gal, these kind of outfitters are not always friendly to the plus sized crowd. However, the gentleman assured me that whatever wasn't available in my size or color preference in store could be ordered as long as it's in stock. The clothes are a little pricier than what I'm used to. I rarely buy clothes, but when I do it's on sale at a big box store so I know I'm not always getting quality stuff. I will say that everything I tried on actually fit well so shopping here wasn't the usual painful experience for me. I found the pants I was looking for, tried on a variety of others just to make sure I liked the ones I wanted, and was happy with my decision and overall experience. Honestly, I might go back to get a sweater that I fell in love with but don't really need. But it was sooooo soft and comfortable. I'm not what I would consider the typical customer for LL Bean, but I'm no longer counting it out as a place to find the right sporty gear that I know won't be available to me at REI and other outfitters.

There is much more product in the store than I initially anticipated and one could spend a fair amount of time browsing everything from womens and mens apparel to dog accessories to cook books to candies. There are many unique items that make fun gifts for relatives and friends; I often come here to find something for that hard-to-shop-for person. I have been in this store many times and it is always clean and well organized. The associates are friendly. However, a strange phenomenon occurs in this space. Time does not seem to exist. Not for the customers, not for the employees, just not at all. Ever. Don't get me wrong, the calm atmosphere is relaxing and I dont enjoy the hustle and bustle ever. It's often a neccessary evil. However, it should not take 40 minutes to make a simple exchange with 2 cashiers and a customer at each register. When an older lady tried to cut in front of me in line, after I waited all that time, I nearly lost my cool. The snail's pace is my only issue about this store. The kids clothes are so cute and it's nice they have different patterns than just trucks and dinosaurs for boys like other stores.
