The TV needed repair in the first year (2009). When I went to the McCallum road Future Shop to arrange repair I was told I had to go through the manufacturer in the first year and that my three year extended warranty would start with Future Shop after the one year manufacturer's warranty (2010-2013). Samsung sent a repairman to my house to fix the TV. My TV required repair again in the fourth year (2013 - the last year of my 3 year extended warranty). When I contacted Future Shop, they informed me that the three year extended warranty was concurrent to the one year manufacturer warranty and it expired in 2012. I had to pay out of pocket for repairs I was told would have been covered by the associate who sold me the TV and warranty. I bought an IPad 2 in May of 2011. I bought a two year extended warranty and inquired extensively about how the warranty worked. I was again told by the sales associate at the McCallum road Future Shop that the IPad would be covered by Apple for the first year (May 2011-May 2012) and that the two subsequent years (May 2012 - May 2014) would be covered by Future Shop extended warranty. The iPad is now in need of repair, so I went to the same Future Shop and was told that the extended warranty was concurrent to the manufacturer's warranty and expired in May of 2013. I never took notice of the fact there was an expiry date of the warranty on the receipt until they pointed it out today, the day I needed to use the extended warranty. Twice now I've been lied to by sales associates at the Langford Future Shop about my so called extended warranties. Twice I've purchased them and the only repairs that were actually done was completed by Samsung and not through Future Shop. I talked to the floor manager at the store today and all he could do was apologize. His apology doesn't reimburse me for the repairs need for the TV this year nor the repairs still needed on my IPad.

The advisor who first helped me was kind, but managers seemed unsure how to process the payment. One manager (Sean) admitted he didn't know how to proceed and never returned with a solution. Later, another manager (Cole) addressed me in a dismissive way, as if the delay was my fault, without any apology. For a large store, it's disappointing that only one person knows how to handle this process and that customer concerns aren't taken seriously. As a loyal customer, I left feeling undervalued and very disappointed in the professionalism shown.

My Toshiba laptop pulled a 'slow one' on me. After a reboot, Windows 8.1 failed to start. After…read morehours of looking for solutions on the 'net (not enough drive space to Refresh), I took it into Tesseract and Gary diagnosed the problem immediately as a failing hard drive and suggested installing my laptop's hard drive in an external case and transferring all of my folders to another computer while the drive was still (somewhat) working, thereby saving a number of files that I hadn't backed up yet. Gary removed the drive from my laptop, installed it in a new external case, tested it and all was good. Saved everything! Thanks a million Gary! Cost? $25 + tax. While in the store I overheard Gary detailing the features of a refurbished Lenovo laptop that came with Windows 10 Pro, 8GB RAM and other features all at a great price (it compared more than favorably with other units offered by computer sellers in Victoria). I bought one. Comes with a 1 year warranty. It's been 3 weeks and I'm very pleased with this machine (Lenovo T540P). I chose Tesseract because I've been impressed with Gary's contributions to Tech Talk on CFAX radio in addition to recommendations from a friend who has had good experiences with this company.

He charged me $150. I now have to take my new MacAir to SoHo to fix the problems he created- it's a total mess and also has a virus. Rik not only refused to fix his mess, he refused to give me a refund and then his tech friend threatened me and banned me from the shop because I used the F-word as an adjective and it wasn't even to describe him (he's well over 300 lbs -about 4X my size) and I'm a senior, 5'1"female. Then the wife who actually owns the shop, and has an accounting business (GC acctg) as well as her husband's junk, refused to give me a refund and threatened to go to the RCMP because I said her husband f-ed up my computer. These holier than thous who don't like swearing have no compuction against lying, cheating, stealing and threatening. Good thing I had already gone to the RCMP and filed a formal complaint against them.
