While it looks like they offer Request-a-Quote (score!) I ended up just calling them as I was out and about. They gave me a two hour window the very next day, then called before they showed up. The tech was the definition of efficient. Friendly enough, not much chit chat, just more or less there to look into things and get the job done. My only slight issue was just a few things that were lost in translation -- they had the address wrong, were not close on spelling my name right, and then the price. They told me they could fix the issue for $135 which I agreed to, then was a bit surprised when the bill was for $209 as the final bill included the parts & labor. No biggie and a very fair price for the tune up and replacement, just would've been nice to know the actual total. The total price did match up with my expectations, so no biggie, just worth noting as I feel like maybe they could automate their bookings/billing just a tad better. TL:DR; I appreciate how fast they were, how they diagnosed and fixed it, and the price point. I'd call them again if the need arises.

So they worked on getting it "free" to no avail but sure did charge me almost double the price for nothing. The next job I was charged twice what they usually charge to open a main line. A call to one of the Big Boys might be better than Sharp. At least you know they are going to try to shaft you. Will never use Sharp Plumbing again! Update: The owner called me a couple of weeks ago and admitted they overcharged me and promised a partial refund. No refund has never showed up. Avoid Hometown Heroes…read more I have now had two separate experiences with this company where I was quoted an enormous replacement job, only to have the problem resolved for a fraction of the cost. The first was my AC. I was told I needed an entirely new system and was quoted thousands of dollars. Thankfully, I called my dad, who is a contractor. He ended up having to tell their technician what part to replace. They replaced that one part for about $400, and my AC has worked like a dream ever since. It is ridiculous that I had to call my dad so he could tell the HVAC company I was paying what part needed to be replaced. Then I had an issue with my main sewer line. Hometown Heroes told me they would need to excavate and install a new main line and quoted me more than $15,000. I called Anthony Plumbing for a second opinion. They cleared my drain lines, scoped everything, and resolved the issue for about $400. That is a $15,000+ recommendation versus a roughly $400 solution. Everyone I dealt with at Hometown Heroes was very nice, but that honestly makes this more concerning to me. My experience has been that they operate more like salespeople than repair technicians. Both times, I was pushed toward an extremely expensive replacement when a much smaller repair or service solved the actual problem. I would especially caution women, homeowners who aren't familiar with HVAC or plumbing, elderly customers, and anyone who may not have the technical knowledge to challenge a recommendation like this. Please get a second opinion before agreeing to a major repair or replacement. Based on my experiences, I would never give Hometown Heroes my business again. Avoid at all costs.
