Eating here made me very VERY happy! The service was excellent and the food was DE.LI.CIOUS!!! It's a sandwich shop. It's a take-out place. It's a restaurant and a butcher. Hence, the name of the restaurant. You order the cut of meat, you then see your waiter go to the butcher section and grab it to take to the kitchen where it is cooked to perfection. Everything we ordered was very good. The fried calamari was light and crispy. The marinara sauce that came with it was the absolute perfect pairing. The bufala insalata was creamy and yet so refreshing. Summer in your mouth. My husband and I shared the 20oz cowboy steak (I believe it's like a porter steak-but can be wrong because I don't remember what the waiter told me because all my attention was on the steak). It was grilled and seasoned to perfection. My mother-in-law had the fettuccine with ragu sauce and she gave us some to taste and it was deliciously well prepared. To end our lunch, my husband ordered a pistachio cake with an espresso. A sweet ending in deed! We're were so full and happy at the end of all this. Let's not forget that this is a BYOB and to me, the prices are very fair for what you get. Our waiter was also great. He was always smiling and so polite yet keeping it all casual. He made us feel welcome. I can't wait to come back here.

Don't you just love discovering excellent eateries in the places you least expect? That just so happened to me tonight. If you drive out to St-Leonard, hidden in a strip mall you will find the BYOB Du Boucher À La Table. The menu is Italian and is meat-centric as the name might suggest. On a Saturday night the place was packed so you might want to play it safe and reserve. The vibe is that of a casual eatery with a little bit of fine dining thrown into the mix. Here you eat at communal tables and there are no menus. Everything is written on chalkboards. If you're just two (as we were) then you might want to sit at the counter which overlooks the kitchen. Here you get a front row seat to see the chefs whipping up the delicious food you are about to eat. As someone who loves cooking myself I enjoyed watching how a restaurant kitchen works. Like I said before the menu focuses on Italian food. I skipped the antipasto because I wasn't too hungry bt they have the usual ones for an Italian restaurant. For the main course I got casareccia with boar ragu and it was to die for! The pasta was cooked al dente and the sauce itself was loaded with boar that had been braised to perfection. I also tried a mouthful of my father's lamb and it was so tender it didn't need a knife to cut it. In addition to bringing your own wine be sure to bring your appetite because the portions here are huge and I can promise that you won't go home hungry. As for the prices they were fair. Most of the main dishes were in the $20 - $30 range and when you consider the portions and quality of the food it seemed reasonable. The overall experience here was a positive one and I will definitely be back in the future to try more of their offerings.

Our server was really good and the food was really good. We tried the non-alcoholic guava mule. The guava was nice and sweet and complimented the spicy of the ginger beer. We ordered a French onion soup, steak Diane, and a beef Wellington. The entrees came with choice of salad. We tried one of each , house Gibby salad and the blue cheese wedge. This was a lot of food for us. The French onion soup was my favorite, good flavor, lots of onions and that nice browned cheese top. Both salads were good, the house salad was a little lighter since the blue cheese wedge salad had a rich blue cheese dressing and bacon bits on top. The steak and beef Wellington was also good. In general, we ordered medium rare, it was a little bit rarer than I expected but not I'd edible. So something to think about if you need your meat to be cooked more. The prices seemed fair for a steakhouse and for the amount of food we ate.

Walking in, the atmosphere struck me--it's dark and cozy, but still well lit enough to feel inviting. We were seated right away. I was a little worried about how we were dressed, but the vibe turned out to be pretty flexible. We saw everything from nicely dressed couples to a bachelor party--complete with the groom-to-be in a hotdog costume! The menu was straightforward but impressive. Every entrée comes with your choice of a Gibbys salad or a wedge salad with blue cheese, plus a potato (do yourself a favor and get the Monte Carlo--you'll thank me later). For my appetizer, I ordered the French onion soup. I've said before that certain restaurants have the "best" one, but this version may actually take the crown. It wasn't oily, and it was perfectly topped with a generous, melty layer of cheese--the way French onion soup should be. I followed that with the Gibbys salad and a 12-ounce filet. I love a good filet, and this one hit the mark. My husband went for the lamb with the wedge salad and enjoyed both thoroughly. By the end, we were far too stuffed for dessert, so we called it a night. If you're looking to splurge on a memorable, romantic dinner in Montreal, Gibbys is the place to go

We ordered a variety of things (including things we wouldn't usually order to try and enjoy the full experience). We had a special that they were having that night similar to a charcuterie board, croquettes, hangar steak, lobster spaghetti, fries, bread and pickle, and a scallop soup type dish (I forget what it was called and honestly it was my absolute favorite most unique dish). The service is outstanding and our server was so knowledgeable and helpful. The space is small and intimate - perfect for a date night!

For $89 per 6oz serving, I expect the meat will be cooked perfectly and of top-notch quality. The bread served with escargot is hard and chewy; scallop soup is lumpy and lukewarm; the double down foie gras is just two pieces of hard bread which barely has any foie gras; duck breast sliced into 6 thin pieces serves with breakfast sausage; the meat is cold, covered by a gluey sauce; the presentation is disastrous. Asparagus is cold, and the cheese sauce on top is cold too. Maybe it's supposed to be cold? But it is weird to serve as a side of a meat course.

Got here just before a rush - the place does get very busy! Appetizers we ordered the tapas trio - which is your selection of 3 apps. We got the chicken satay with an awesome peanut satay sauce, the deep fried cauliflower, and the truffle potatoes. The truffle sauce for the potatoes was amazing. Very complex and just enough to split. The main course with the braised short ribs with the mashed potatoes. You don't have the upgrade the side - the mashed are a staff favourite. When the main course of braised short ribs came, it was amazingly tender, fall off the bone, and the sweet sauce was just right. The creamy mashed potatoes and veggies made a perfect finish. The restaurant seems to be very popular for birthdays or special group gatherings. What interested me in the first place was the large menu, there is a good selection of everything so it easy to please a picky eater. The restaurant itself it medium sized, there is a small parking lot and free street parking. It is located in a very residential neighborhood. The interior style and vibe is fancy, higher end, white table cloth and intimate. We were seated and served very promptly. Our main meals were the penne romanoff which is a pasta in a rosee and vodka sauce, along with the grilled lamb chops. This is served with a side of potatoes and veggies but we were able to swap this out with a side of simple olive oil and garlic pasta instead. They serve complimentary flat bread and buns to start. The pasta was delicious, extremely rich and flavorful, and pretty generous in portion. The lamb chops were dainty, cooked well and tasty however we expected more of an herb or seasoned crust to these -they only had a sprinkle of herbs on them. Service is super speedy and efficient, we were in and out very quickly since we did not order anything else. I would highly recommend this place for pasta, if you live in the area, take out would be ideal. The pricing and portion is very reasonable. I would definitely come back and want to try other things from the menu, we saw several other dishes at nearby tables and everything looked delicious.
