The food here is excellent. We were greeted by and chatted with both the owner and the woman cooking. Lovely women who are bringing this oft overlooked cuisine to what was once a Jewish neighborhood. This is home cooking, and not fancy. The beef goulash was delicious, and one of the lightest and freshest tasting stews I've had. My husband had the chicken schnitzel and we traded plates half way through, and that was delicious too. The space itself is both a casual eatery and a market. That didn't bother me, ambience wise, but the chiller units (compressors) on the refrigerators that line the back wall are exposed and very noisy. Like, enough so that I was happy to leave. Other than that, I have no complaints, and will return for more of this well cooked food.

I love everything about Chez Anna. I love that you're sitting in the back of a small grocery store, I love that there are only like 6 tables, I love that the service is warm and welcoming, but most of all I love the food. This is Hungarian food as it should be -- home cooked, rich, warm, filling, and so so delicious. I haven't had my nagymama's cooking since the last time I visited Hungary, but Chez Anna is the next best thing. Go here, eat everything, you will not be sorry. Nagyon szépen köszönöm a finom vacsorát, Chez Anna.

Let me preface this by saying: if you come to Chez Anna wearing tight pants, you will leave with regrets and a popped button. Chez Anna is that magical unicorn of a restaurant that somehow pulls off being casually chic without making you feel like you need to sell a kidney to afford dinner. Think: your fancy friend's apartment when they "just threw something together" but somehow it's a four-course meal and the napkins are cloth. Now let's talk Cordon Bleu. Oh. My. Bleu. This thing is the Beyoncé of poultry dishes. Golden, crispy, juicy--melty cheese inside like a warm, gooey secret whispered into your mouth. I actually considered proposing to it, but I didn't want to get turned down in front of the potatoes. Speaking of food, the portions are NO JOKE. I ordered a "light dinner" and left feeling like I needed to be forklifted into an Uber. Chez Anna isn't here for your dainty bites and garnish-only lifestyle. She feeds you like a doting Eastern European aunt who thinks you're wasting away. And honestly? I'm here for it. Atmosphere-wise: it's got the cozy, candlelit vibes of a neighborhood bistro, but with just enough flair to make you feel like you're winning at adulting. There's art on the walls that says "I went to university," but the servers are cool enough to still say "no worries" when you knock over your water glass. TL;DR: Come hungry. Wear stretchy pants. Praise Anna. Order the damn Cordon Bleu.

Cordón Bleu - what a beautiful presentation. Simple but spectacular. Spaetzle on separate plate

This is a genuine place for homemade style Hungarian food. Note the address is in St-Laurent (January 2024) Anna is a very friendly woman who does almost all the cooking herself. It is a funky and fun place to eat at. Or order from.

Amazing Goulash! Copious portions. We brought it home, but there are a few cosy tables if you would to eat there. Run by an adorable woman.
