Duane Hartness - State Farm Insurance Agent - Duane is the best insurance agent a person could wish to have serving you. If you were to write a book or a film script, and try to imagine the ideal, best possible insurance agent, it would be Duane Hartness. I have been a customer of Duane's since about 1992. Duane has always provided me thoughtful, valuable guidance and service.
In January of 2021, my family lost our home to fire. This was a total, catastrophic loss. One of the first calls I made was to Duane Hartness. While the fire department personnel were still there dousing hot spots, Duane showed up and stood with me in the January rain. Duane wrote me a starter check for loss of contents, gave me an umbrella, and provided prudent, valuable guidance. Additionally, he suggested immediate accommodations that were both reasonable and private. In the coming days, Duane and his lovely wife Didi, checked on us regularly and provided many thoughtful items and meals.
The process of settling a catastrophic loss with an insurance company can be daunting. Duane acted as a tireless advocate and friend throughout our recovery. State Farm acted quickly to settle on the Coverage A (structure) and vehicle loss. My policy included temporary housing. Duane provided valuable guidance throughout that period as well.
We were fortunate and blessed to be able to go from losing our home to owning our new home in 90 days. This was during a very tough real estate market. Duane Hartness provided me critical, time sensitive guidance and advice during that phase as well. At the time of settlement, a huge ice storm paralyzed Texas and State Farm's IT system was offline for a few days. Duane facilitated communications with my State Farm adjuster during this time. That helped keep the closing process for the new home on track. I never even considered another company for coverage on our new home.
Loss to closing in 90 days was a sprint, but somewhat manageable. But for me the hardest part was detailing the loss of our home's contents. This was a sad and seemingly endless, grueling homework assignment necessary to settle on the loss of contents. Unless you've been through this you really can't know how difficult this process is. Duane gave me many pep talks during this time. Again, he acted as an advocate for us and helped us navigate the settlement negotiations.
I can't stress enough how valuable and important it is to me to have honest, effective, discussions with a businessman with the integrity of Duane Hartness.
