My 85-year old mother was rear-ended in a motor vehicle accident during 2017, and her "like-new" 2015 automobile (with only 7,500 miles on the odometer) was badly damaged. I helped my mother to present her damage claim to the other driver and his insurance carrier. The diminished value of her car after the accident was an element of the claim. When searching for an appraiser to attest to the diminished value after repair, I happened upon this Yelp site. The combination of high and low ratings for the company was a bit confusing, but the A+ rating by the Better Business Bureau persuaded me to give them a try. Briefly put, Collision Claim Associates did an excellent job for my mother. The appraiser is seasoned as to legal matters and well qualified to perform diminished value appraisals. The Vehicle Diminished Value Report was thorough, cost-effective and produced within the promised time frame. The ultimate settlement of my mother's case included the full diminished value amount included in the Report (as well as the cost of the appraisal). After my experience, I reread some of the low ratings for this company on Yelp. In retrospect, I believe that many of the complaints are actually complaints about insurance companies, not Collision Claim Associates. I am a certified public accountant and paralegal, and have witnessed countless legal disputes that involve appraisals. In my mother's case, Collision Claim Associates did everything I expected them to do in a timely and professional manner. I'd really give them 1.5 stars. Firstly, they are not exactly what I would consider friendly. But that's not why you sign up with them. I worked with Amy Gooch and Rosemary Hix via email. They did provide a comprehensive report, as promised. But, other than the report itself, it's all boilerplate information. Also, the appraiser they sent out was unprofessional at best - actually trying to stop by unannounced and seemed annoyed that I was unavailable at that particular time. My biggest complaints are: 1) they give you an inflated value for what you should expect from your DV claim. I settled on 1/3 the value they estimated. 2) They are "helpful" via email until you pay. Afterwards, they seem to disappear. They replied to me once, but that's it. 3) They are quite expensive for what they offer. My appraisal was ~$500. After lessons learned about DV, get a ~$100 appraisal and submit it to the insurance. They will more than likely send their own appraiser to inspect your vehicle anyway. Then get an estimate from CarMax or AutoTrader.com. Then you can settle on a realistic amount. My name has been changed to maintain my anonymity, but I assure you I recently work with this company. After 10 months of going back and forth and spending money on registered letters and $395 for their appraisal, I ended up settling for what the insurance company first offered me which was 1/3 of what CCA said I should get. CCA's final response was "well you can hire an attorney" Never got reimbursed for the appraisal fee either. While I am not 100% completed with receiving returns from my insurance company, CCA has been great to work with and has delivered everything they've claimed. I found some info that was missing from their report and let them know - they were quick to respond, correct and apologetic for missing the information. Based on my experience, I'd recommend Collision Claims as your first stop when filing a diminished value claim. I was rear ended in my 4 month old Mazda CX-5 (other guys fault). I had proof of the drop in value by getting a free car fax evaluation 3 days after the accident and a week after I got the auto back from the repair shop (almost 5 weeks later). I began negotiation on a diminished value claim with the other guys insurance company and presented the car fax reports. The insurance company rep offered me a little over half what the car fax report indicated I was due. He said the report was subjective and he couldn't possibly pay more than what he had already offered. I said no I think I can do better. Less than 30 days after filing the claim prepared by CollisionClaims.com I received a check with payment in full for the amount Richard calculated the car value was diminished. This was more than twice what the rep was originally "able to offer". PS: the insurance company did NOT reimburse me for the cost of the Collision Claims service, but I'm still happy with the end result. read more

Do not waste your money! They don't help at all just take your money then an"appraiser" sends you some fancy email and you send to insurance company, they emailed insurance adjuster once or twice then told me I should file complaint with insurance commissioner (I did) and they can't help either. And I had a 3 day old car that was parked inside my garage and this man rammed through my (up hill long driveway) and smashed my new parked car into my house! They got me 5000 dollars for 7000 dollars worth of damage tomy car they are awsome!! You have to follow their instruction and do some legwork but in the end well worth the money. Understand they are not Lawyers and cannot give legal advice they are just providing templates. read more

Not sure about the review about the guy's car who got hit while in his garage, but my experience was completely different. My 2016 Colorado was hit in my company parking lot by a fellow employee and had $4k worth of damages. I filed a claim (still waiting to get my deductible back) but in the meantime i filed for a diminished value claim with my insurance provider (Liberty Mutual). A couple of days later i received a diminished value check of $54!!!!! I was completely offended. Afterwards, I investigated a couple of diminished value experts and avoided many with horrible reviews. I then came across Collision Claim Associates. Within the very next day Richard Hixenbaugh (President and CEO) came to my work and assessed my Truck. He told me upfront i was looking at getting between $2,500-$3,500. He provided an estimate around $3,600 to make sure we had some bartering leverage. He also provided a sample demand letter with instructions to provide to my insurance company. I sent it in to Liberty Mutual and within a week i got a letter back from Liberty Mutual that they would be willing to settle for $2,750. A big jump from $54!! The best part about it is after you send in their letter and evaulation, they handle the rest with your insurance company and their diminished value "expert". It was so simple. I did question the $395 i paid for their expertise from a company i just googled and researched.
