Horrible, if you need your meds TRY to call ( sometime they just wont answer the phone!) order a week before and call the 3rd and 4th day or you'll be there waiting all day, it still wont be ready but close....IF there's any more than 2 people working or they are closed due to robbery or low staff! Use Walgreens on Cortelyou road or the pharmacy across the street. I've seen shoplifters all day, useless manager and lazy staff. The cool white chick with the braces left, she knew everyone s name by heart. Pharmacist Ben is gone now too. This place was fine before Walgreens took over. Then it went downhill. The selection got worse, and it became almost impossible to get anyone to help you. Nail in the coffin: now practically everything they sell is locked behind clear plastic, so you have to track down one of the 2 or 3 people working here to unlock a bar of soap for you. I made a comment about this, and the floor person said "every store does it." No, every store doesn't. I'm taking my business somewhere that doesn't treat its customers like criminals. read more

As several other posters have suggested, coming to this branch on Cortelyou Rd. is like entering the Twilight Zone. From the do-nothing "security" guards in the front to the completely inept pharmacy in the back, the entire experience here is depressing. Avoid this pharmacy. They never answer the phone anymore, their website still allows you to book and confirm Rx home delivery even though they don't show up, and they've messed up prescriptions. I get they're understaffed and overwhelmed at this time. But they also are managing people's (sometimes live saving) medicines. It's just not acceptable. read more

This is the absolute worst pharmacy. If you're able to get your prescriptions filled at another Walgreens pharmacy (or other pharmacy), do yourself a favor and go to another pharmacy. Truly the worst repeated experiences with the pharmacy. They don't pick up the phone (was on hold for 40 minutes with one person allegedly ahead of me), am consistently given inaccurate representations of when prescriptions will be given, and prescriptions are never ready on time. I hate this place and don't know why I still pick up meds here. They're a fucking mess. Meds are wrong or incomplete, the wait in the pharmacy is much longer than they say it'll be. Let me add my voice to others'. This used to be a pretty good Duane Reade--still a chain but with diligent pharmacists and short lines. I went here for years and never had a problem. Then Walgreens took over. Almost instantly the lines became longer--and longer--and longer. The pharmacists were replaced by more harried, less experienced people, with wait times stretching out. More than once I've found it still closed ten minutes after its supposed opening. Stock is iffy, though that might be pandemic supply chain issues so let's leave that aside. The good part of this is that I'm taking my business now to smaller pharmacies and stores where I don't mind waiting. read more

This is actually a Duane Reade/Walgreens location now. It's big, clean, and pretty good selection of all necessities. They have Citi ATMs inside. Haven't been to the pharmacy, which seems to be from where all the complaints stem. read more

This store used to be my go-to pharmacy, but ever since Walgreens took over there is never more than one cashier on staff AND they locked everything up and hire money to employ an incredibly bored looking security guard to stand by the front door so you need to call someone to hand you your shampoo. Head and Shoulders isn't even that expensive. I don't appreciate being treated like a criminal, and am definitely not going to beg a store to allow me to buy something, so I have mostly taken my hard-earned dollars elsewhere. But every once in a while, I make the mistake of going into this store. "I just quickly need to grab some paper towels and dishwasher tabs", I thought to myself. I run in, I grab the items (which are thankfully some of the few things not under lock and key), I get on line. I'm #5. There is 1 cashier. Someone pings for help in the soap aisle. Two minutes pass. I am # 5 in line. Someone (the same someone, most likely) pings again for help in the soap aisle. Time passes. I am still # 5 in line. Someone (still probably the same someone) pings again for help in the soap aisle. Someone approaches the line and wisely deposits his container of mouth wash back in the mouth wash display and exists the store without purchasing it. Finally, I'm #4 in line. Someone pings for help in the soap aisle again. The line is growing. I'm up to #3. Maybe I will make it out of here with my paper towels and dishwasher tablets. Oh no, the guy at checkout needs something from the manager. The one cashier pings the manager. The line is now like 10 people long. I wait. I wait. I wait. The manager doesn't show up. I throw my paper towels and dishwasher tablets onto a random display in disgust. (Sorry, to the Duane Reade employee who had to clean that up. I hope you find a better job soon). read more

Had an appointment for the vaccine - ended up waiting 2 hours - not because of a long line, but because they were waiting for more people to give the vaccine to. Doesn't make sense - saw them preparing my shot after I submitted paperwork, but it just sat there until they had 5 other people to give vaccines to also. If this is the case, they should have scheduled their appointments differently. People walk up to the check in window and are thoroughly ignored by the pharmacists who are right behind the counter in front of the check in area - they will not look up, just continue looking at their computers, avoiding eye contact with the customer right in front of them. 4 pharmacists behind the counter. Had an appointment previously and was turned away at the door of the store (along with two other customers with appointments) stating that the pharmacy was closed that day - why have appointments available if the pharmacy is to be closed? Also why prevent anyone from entering the store while the store was supposed to still be open (this was way before the stated closing time). read more

I grew up in this neighborhood and this pharmacy has gone to shit. More than ever since COVID hit. I mean the lines are long so much so that you don't even want to stop. The staff is always polite and nice. But with the pandemic people come in and steal so much now. The most annoying thing is that the pharmacy is NOT CONSISTENT. They just decide their own schedules apparently. No warning. No notice and it will be closed for the day because the pharmacist couldn't make it in. So is there no back up? Numerous times I've gone to pick up a prescription and the pharmacy is closed when it should be open. It's not even closed for a few hours. It's closed for the day with a bogus typed sign hanging. I was loyal but I'm considering changing my pharmacy at this point. read more

While I ultimately was able to get the pharmacist on the phone to straighten this out, this experience was extremely frustrating. Everything that could possibly go wrong went wrong. I have patronized the Walgreen's Store at 3rd and Atlantic for years and NEVER had a single problem with the prescription system. This walgreens at cortelyou was better before because of the staff.But I see they have about 4 new workers and they all are just terrible.Firstly the staff isn't helpful and I get a racist vibe from one of the staff.The lines are long and have just one or two open register. If you need help there's never anyone there to help.The new staff they have there is frankly just terrible and never greets you .Please just just go to the Bodegas close by or another location until they have better staff at this location .Im not going back there.! read more

Convenient. Right across the street from the subway station. I get all of my scripts (medical jargon for prescriptions) filled here, and the pharmacists are always professional. They have a pretty good magazine section & a section for greeting cards as well. Only bad thing is that when the rush hour crowd comes in after work, the lines get really long and it sometimes takes the staff seemingly forever to get everyone rung up or even to add someone else to another register. Also, sometime the line can get long, while there are closed registers. Now to the place itself: I always believed that places like that are important, and there can never be enough of them. I've patronized the 1517 Cortelyou Road location for four years with no problems, but lately it feels like customer service has become a thing of the past. On 7/28/18 I went in at around 8:45pm to use the Citibank ATM, which failed to dispense -- the slot didn't open. The cashier called the manager, Jermany, who pointed to the bottom of the machine and said, "You have to call that number. We're not responsible for the machines." I called, and as I waited on hold said to the cashier, "There should be a note on this machine letting people know it doesn't work." Another employee, Shahid (who has always been helpful, friendly and knowledgeable), came over and suggested I call Citibank to see if my account had been debited, which I did. After I finished the calls and began leaving, I mentioned to the cashier again that there really needed to be a note on the machine. "Yeah, okay, okay," she said, munching on a candy bar. I walked over to Shahid, thanked him for his help, and repeated that there needed to be a notice so that other customers wouldn't have the same problem, and that I'd already mentioned this to the cashier, who only said "okay." She overheard this, and berated me as I walked past her toward the exit, adding, testily, "I'm waiting for a piece of paper." (I had been there for maybe fifteen minutes, ample time for someone to create a sign.) The malfunctioning ATM is not a new issue: I'd seen the same thing happen to a woman trying to use the same one a few weeks ago, and when I got home my husband mentioned that he never uses that ATM, because he'd had problems with it. (He stopped in the next morning to see if there was a note on the machine; there was not.) The ATMs may not be their responsibility, but informing customers they aren't working most certainly IS, as is contacting whoever is responsible for the ATMs. read more

The pharmacy staff is incompetent, slow and rude for no reason. Simple refill, no insurance or card issues, and yet takes 45 minutes to put a pre-packaged bottle of pills into a bag. I've setup automatic refill twice now and pick up the same prescription for the last 2 years, and yet have to wait every time. I have never seen any customer get terse with them, myself included, for the completely unnecessary wait and yet every staff member and pharmacist is so disrespectful when you finally get to the register. The long lines at the front of the store with 2-3 people staring at a register or talking about personal matters and ignoring a line of people to check out, don't help my disdain for this Duane Reade. I have been very satisfied with the work they do here. I have a lot of prescriptions filled here w/ unconventional billing & they have been great. I've been going here for most of my 10 yrs in the neighborhood and they have always been super helpful. I appreciate that they carefully fill prescriptions while having a very large clientele to attend to. Pick up your scripts Btn 8-9pm to avoid a line. read more
