Fantastic donut spot! I got a takeout order yesterday and brought their fall selection for my friend for her birthday. It was all ready for me as soon as I got there. I decided to get a second half dozen to bring home for myself and my family, and it was really cool to see all of the donuts freshly made, glazed, and topped in real time. I got the maple bacon, chocolate covered strawberry, bare, vanilla, PBJ, and strawberry sprinkles. I had bites of each (shared with family) and they were all delicious! I heard about this place a while back but had not been until just recently. Walked in and was greeted with a clean shop and smell of warm fluffy donuts. I noticed a menu that outlined the fall flavors that had recently come out and couldn't resist ordering half a dozen of them. I'm not picky so I chose the first 6 that stood out to me. I saw a sneak peak prior to them closing the box and honestly was surprised and how great they looked. When I got home, I realized the donuts were still warm, moist, dense and overall delicious. We discovered Duck Donuts in Encinitas, CA. They are so alluring that I actually felt safe knowing they were one state away. But now they're here in the Valley!! You can't go wrong with warm, made-to-order donuts! I do not care for cake donuts as a general rule. But Duck's are amazing!! Start with a warm, vanilla cake donut and add the glazes and toppings that look good to you. They will have several pages of pre-set combinations to try if you don't want to invent your own. My only suggestion would be for Duck to post these monthly and seasonal menus more toward the front of the store. That way you could decide while you're waiting in line. My all-time favorite so far is the cinnamon with vanilla drizzle. So good! The donuts are quite messy and I was going to suggest that the store offer wet wipes. But, what do you know? I love donuts. We had seen this place first in Encinitas and that one is a much safer distance away. This one requires quite a drive, but it's under an hour for me. Fresh-made donuts, when you order them. Let that sink in. Yeah, they're all vanilla cake-style donuts with you-call-it toppings. They have a wide array of suggestions, including seasonal specials. If you've ever been curious about a maple and bacon donut, I encourage you to try theirs: the bacon is still warm and crispy. My son and I like the one with lemon frosting and raspberry drizzle, and the basic cinnamon sugar-dusted one with a vanilla drizzle is amazing. All of those are on top of a cake donut that is tender on the inside and slightly crispy on the outside -- get a "bare donut" if you're a purist or just want to try out fresh donut awesomeness. Despite the drive, I'm sure we'll be back... and I'm going to have to add more running miles to compensate!! The people at the counter were patient and friendly. I think the cashiers's name was Ashley, but I may be mistaken due to the subsequent dive into sugared bliss. Tip: get some coffee to balance out the sugar. Also, beware the Nutella. I would say they run second place in the specialty donut world to "Hurts Donuts" but that's my Opinion you should give them a try and form your own. Fresh donuts are always the best. The service has always been above par. Rarely do you find that at donut shops these days. I wish they more duck donuts closer to our house but i guess at the same time it's a good thing it's not walking distance because it could be a severe problem because the donuts are always so good. Crispy soft airy. Just dreamy really. I've only been maybe 2-3 times and every time you go it's just heaven. It makes you wish all donuts tasted this fresh and delicious. It's great because you can make your donuts any way you want. Never have to worry if they are out of things unless it's seasonal that's literally the only problem. Oh, how much I would love to give this place a high star. This is my 2nd time coming here and maybe my last unless they have another location. The owner is very welcoming and nice but his staff taking our order wasn't very welcoming nor nice. Both times I got an attitude from her and her vibe makes me not want to come back. Actually found this place on accident. Was visiting family in Arizona, when our local family members were telling us about these amazing donuts that are a must have. So the next morning my husband gets up early so he can go to the donuts place that was a must, when he gets there it's not open yet. So he googled doughnut shops close to where he was and Duck Donuts came up. Walking in he's a little confused as there are no donuts in display like he's used to, the employee reading the confusion on his face explain the process to him, these are fresh made to order donuts!!! I wasn't in the actual store with him, this is all from his experience so I don't have all the information just what was mansplained to me There's a menu with three different steps to pick from, he said there were a lot of options. It took about 15 minutes to get his donuts after ordering. By the time he got home and brought them in to show me what he found, they were still warm. He had already started on the glazed as you can see in the picture. So he gives me a bite and OMG!!! Warm donuts are amazing! I ended up going with the chocolate frosted one. Personally, I liked the glazed more than the chocolate one, maybe the sweetness. I didn't have a chance to try any of the other donuts, as soon as they were put in the kitchen they were gone but heard all of them were so good and still soft. We happened to be down in Chandler and as I was going through my Yelp feed on my phone I saw an ad for Duck Donuts. We were only 4 miles from it so I said "we got to try this place out." It is located in a strip mall with plenty of parking. We were immediately greeted when we walked in and asked if it was our first time in. We indicated that it was. One of the employees explained the donuts were made fresh after being ordered and showed us the donut choices available plus the option of making your own one. I got the cinnamon donut with frosting dribbled on it. Hubby got the toffee one with salt caramel drizzle. We elected to eat them there. Within minutes of placing our order, they were ready.
