Sometimes life gets so hectic that I don't stop and smell the roses. I find myself so focused on what's next or what I have to do later in the day to get one step closer to generational wealth that I just don't sit and enjoy the present moment. Pier C Park brought me straight back to present time. Standing on this little hill floating in the Hudson River, I could see the entire New York Skyline. A quote from one of my favorite books echoed between my ears: "I would give the greatest sunset in the world for one sight of New York's skyline...The sky over New York and the will of man made visible. What other religion do we need?" I tend to agree. I just sat here for a bit, smelling the roses for the first time in a while. How lucky am I to just sit here and be able to look at this? You get pretty close to Snake Hill which used to have those creepy buildings visible from the highway when i was a kid. It's peaceful, scenic, and perfect for a quiet walk, a photo session, or just relaxing with a coffee while enjoying the view. There's public parking, and depending on the day, you might even find an ice cream truck. A few blocks away, you'll find restaurants and cafes, making it a great stop before or after a meal. You can even walk or bike the entire stretch from Weehawken to West New York along the waterfront. Whenever I'm in the area, I make it a point to stop here even just for a few minutes. Weehawken to get to is sometimes a pain due to the congestion but the architecture surrounding this park is just a perk of the park itself. Victorian style Charmed looking houses and greenery everywhere. Highly recommend if you can come take in the view of this location. Bring a picnic blanket and your camera, well worth the drive!

The address is correct it's just completely in the back behind the actual park in front, just keep walking and I promise you'll find it. There's two trails, the easy was literally about 30 feet long then we hit a fence. The other was so muddy we couldn't even walk it, I wouldn't even try. Maybe I'll try coming back on a super dry day. The day before I came, it had rained for an hour. I can only imagine what a really rain storm can do to this trail. It may be worth the treck but I may also never find out. My suggestions are to wait for a very dry day to come here and walk all the way to the back of the area when you arrive. Or just maybe go to a different trail altogether!

The park runs its annual Cherry Blossom Festival as well as multiple events such as the Cherry Blossom Bike Race Challenge, and the Cherry Blossom 10K run that happened last Sunday, April 12th. The weather was excellent, and there was plenty of community pride as everyone showed up. You can also be a spectator, should you choose to, if you don't want to partake in the run. Family Day will be taking place on April 18th. For those who wish to take in the scenery only, the Cherry Blossom Welcome Center renovation has been completed since last Fall of 2023. Inside, there are comfortable bathrooms, an artificial but exceptional-looking year-round cherry blossom tree in full bloom, and a souvenir center where you can purchase sweatshirts, t-shirts, etc. Proceeds benefit Branch Brook Park Alliance in care of the park, according to the Branch Brook Park's website. The entire Welcome Center has a modern and open feel throughout the building as it has plenty of natural lighting and high vaulted ceilings. As you enter, to your immediate right, you will find the gallery space with historical displays and a mural depicting the vast collection of cherry blossoms and their history. If you are ever in the area, this is absolutely worth a visit and yes, it is completely free.

The park is big and there's a big parking lot but please note that during busy concerts the parking lot gets full so you can expect to park on the street if you don't arrive at least 30 minutes in advance. I realized today that I have never reviewed Liberty State Park. Overpeck County park may be the…read morebest park in Bergen County, but this park is my favorite park in all of New Jersey. The views of the Statue of Liberty and Manhattan are amazing, of course. There is a very nice, well maintained running path that loops around the park, and most of it is shoveled soon after snowfall. The portion of this path along Audrey Zapp Road is nice and shaded, and in the summer there are many people that run up and down this segment. Most half marathons and marathons that are held in Jersey City run through this park. There are areas labeled as picnic sites but the best site to have a picnic is by the playground. There's free parking, clean restrooms, picnic tables, trash cans and places to dump bbq coals, a very nice playground and lots of shade. Sometimes there's an ice cream truck or other food trucks hanging out in the parking lot.
