This now sixth-generation family bakery continues to follow the same simple, time-tested process that began in 1884 and nothing besides the delicious products represents this more than the historic structure that houses this hometown specialty bakery. Nothing says Louisiana like a taste of this delicious french bread hot from the oven, from the crusty exterior and light velvety interior it's needs nothing to take you back in time although a slab of salted butter could take the experience over the top. The staff here is so friendly and accommodating and are eager to share a part of the history - it's like no other place I've been, it was definitely a joy to see a business still operating much as it did when it started more than 142 years ago, this is a rare and unique opportunity to not only see but actually taste a bite of history and tradition. This was definitely on my radar as a place to visit and a place I plan to return too when visiting the area.

In my opinion, there is no product out there that could even come close to its quality & taste. Their bread & ginger cakes are heads & shoulders above any product available in stores. We are fortunate to have this bakery locally. The bakery's products are so delicious, they are 2nd to none.

Because of this she wanted to celebrate her birthday, but also her life! We went all out!! We ordered a beautiful cake. It had chocolate covered strawberries. It had basket weave icing. It was decorated with black trim accents to coordinate with the theme of the formal dinner party. Long story short we picked up the beautiful cake in an suv (FYI..a $300 cake that didn't come in a box) Had no previous knowledge of that. We laid out a slide resistant grip thingy as told. We put it on a flat surface. The suv was air conditioned. We drove off and less than 15 mins down the road the cake started to fall apart. The flat tray thing that the cake was placed on wasn't moving at all due to the slide resistant grips on it. What was sliding was the icing from the cake, and the strawberries started to roll off, then the layers started to slide. It was a mess. By the time we made it to our destination our cake was not worth $300. It was disastrous. The icing had literally peeled away from a whole side of the cake. One of the tiers had slid so far that the cake had a step effect. Their business was informed, but we were told it is posted once cakes leave their business its not their business what happens to it. I get that, but at some point it's possible that they can be liable for fault. We didn't drop the cake. We didn't mishandle the cake. We weren't driving recklessly. What did we do wrong?? Will give credit for the flavor of the cake, because that was good. We didn't have a back up cake so we had to present the cake to the guests. Of course all of the strawberries were removed, the basket weave was reworked, cupcake can icing was used to repipe. Strawberries had to be strategically placed to hide areas that couldn't be helped. What made it worse is that it was a formal affair, black and white formal attire. Then there was a jacked up cake not fit for a child's birthday party.
