They have helped us with payroll questions for our business and they do as little or as much as we need help with. Our personal returns are quite complicated because of the businesses we own and sometimes our returns are over 150 pages! We happily pay our bill each year and always check the square for IRS or SC Tax Commission to speak to Mr. Thiem regarding our information if need be. Mr. Thiem has represented us in two or three separate audits and they have all come out favorably - he stands behind what he puts on paper, so be truthful to him! He always knows that we need an extension and automatically files one for us - what a great person to have on your side! With Mr. Thiem nearing retirement, we hope that Mr. McCutcheon will be ready to handle all of our business (which we don't doubt for a second!) as we will stay with this long-established firm! We had a nice meeting with basic advice, and she stated it would be a couple of months before she had any numbers for me since she was currently working on quarterly taxes. We had a few email exchanges with Melissa over the next months and a phone call but never received any numbers. This year around March, my husband reached back out to them to do our yearly taxes. Melissa emailed us a few times answering some questions. For the past month, my husband and I have been uploading our tax documents into their platform without anyone from the office asking us penitent questions needed to complete our return. We still didn't know how much we were going to owe so we put our information into Turbotax to see an estimate and to make sure we were sending them everything they needed. A week before taxes were due, we asked them directly if they were going to have our taxes completed because we hadn't heard from anyone nor been asked anything about our different tax situations. We told them in the email that if they were unable to file in time, we could use Turbotax so we didn't receive a penalty but we wanted them to file them. I also told Elizabeth that it looked like we were going to owe a lot more than we expected next year because we failed to meet an exemption that we were unaware of before selling our home. I told her that I would have expected that to be something she told me during our first meeting because it makes a huge financial difference. Instead, of calling me to discuss the matter, Elizabeth sends us an email six days before taxes are due telling me that she is discontinuing our relationship because I questioned her integrity. She was also offended we had used Turbotax. The entire situation was unprofessional and immature.
