I had a very pleasant visit to Dufrense recently. The salesman was very polite, and helpful. Answered all my questions and looked into all of my concerns. I could hardly wait for the month of December to be over! Customer service does not exist anymore! This was absolutely one of the worst experiences. We bought a new refrigerator at Dufresne on November 28 as the compressor on ours went. We could not get it until December 5th. Friday December 5th the fridge arrived. We waited several hours before plugging it in. 18 hours later the fridge was still warm. We waited the full 24 hours and the result was the same. We called Dufresne and were connected to the service dept which indicated a service Tech would be out to assess. (The fridge should have been exchanged at this point and Dufresne should have dealt with Whirlpool after the fact). Monday morning we made calls all over to make sure we had someone out quickly as now it was over a week without a refrigerator. Final the service Tech was at our home Tuesday December 9. He checked the fridge and indicated the compressor wasn't working. He called Whirlpool and they told the Tech to let us know someone from Whirlpool would contact us in 20 minutes. 20 minutes later got the call from a customer service rep at Whirlpool. She indicated that Whirlpool would send us a new refrigerator. The delivery date would be December 18. I asked if we could get it sooner as we needed something quickly as the 18 would be 3 weeks with out a refrigerator. She said no that was the best she could do. BIG MISTAKE. The refrigerator was not delivered on the 18th due to the weather. I had to beg the delivery people to get it earlier than Monday December 22 the rescheduled delivery date. We received the refrigerator on Saturday the 20th at 4:30. We were told not to plug in for at least 7 hours and we told the delivery people we would not plug in until the next morning as I had dinner guest over. We checked the outside of the refrigerator and there was no damage. We asked that they not remove tape as it was freezing cold and learning from our previous delivery it made a big mess on the refrigerator that took us over 1 1/2 hours to clean. Sunday December 21 I proceeded to remove the tape from the outside of the refrigerator, opened the door to find shattered glass all over the inside as well as the electrical panel hanging down. What could Whirlpool done better you ask. We should not have had to wait 11 days for a new refrigerator as I found out on December 19 that Dufresne had 3 units in their warehouse. So why did't. Dufresne do an exchange at this time rather than getting a tech out. If Whirlpool would have sent Dufresne a particular form, can't remember what it is called like Whirlpool usually does for a "dead on arrival" appliance I probably would have had a refrigerator by December 11th. My husband went to Dufresne this morning Monday December 22 and spoke with the service manager. Was told the earliest they can deliver a fridge to us is possibly December 27 (now 4 weeks with out a fridge). That said it all! Dufresne could not care less. Given the fact that it had been several weeks after purchase, I would have thought Dufresne would have gone above and beyond to get the fridge out to us asap not 5 days later. Obviously they don't care about their customers. I was told by an employee of Dufresne that they don't make any money on appliances. They just sell them so that when people buy furniture they can use the appliances as an up sell for the total home package. So it seems obvious that when you purchase an appliance at Dufresne and there is an issue, don't expect any customer service as they haven't made enough money on the sale! This whole situation should not have happened. I would say a refrigerator is a necessity. It's not like a damage piece of furniture that you can still possibly use. From the start, the exchange should have been done the first time around. Why should a customer deal with a manufacturer on a brand new item. Dufresne should have dealt with the manufacturer given this was a brand new appliance and dead on arrival. If I had to do this over again, which I will not, especially with Dufresne. That refrigerator would have been returned and I would have gone elsewhere. read more

Scheduled a delivery on a day off. We were emailed Tracking. The delivery was supposed to arrive by 1100. When it hadn't arrived by 3pm I called. I was told that the delivery had been cancelled. we were not notified. No explanation given by the person taking the call. I asked to speak to a manager - they told me a manager would not be available until 2 days later. My mistake was shopping there in the first place. Horrible service. read more

I wish there was a 0 star!! Worst experience and Customer Service. I don't know how this store is still operating. I bought a coffee table and the delivery was cancelled 3 times. I was then told the coffee table is not available however they will not refund me because it's final sale. How does that make sense!! I bought furniture from Dufresne and had them deliver it. The delivery truck with the ramp out the back hit my newly constructed porch and damaged it. Now I have to get it repaired. One of the items I bought was a refrigerator for my newly constructed house. I bought a counter depth. When I put it in there, I could not open the door. We moved it forward, so it was sticking out and then was able to open the door halfway. However, this leaves a gap in the back of the fridge and the fridge sticks out past the counters significantly. The driver said I had 48 hours to return the fridge. I decided the next day that the fridge was not working for me and called guest services to return the fridge. They would not take it back even when I spoke with the manager. They said all appliances if they are in the house are final. I told them that the driver told me I had 48 hours and they would not budge. When you're talking with someone in Dufresne you get different answers depending on who you're talking to . read more

Terrible experience pós sales. I purchased a Whirpool Frigde, and the first one that was delivered came with several damages, after a couple of conversations they accepted to exchange for a new one. They delivered the new one with the Fridge light fallen, one of the glass shelves totally broken and freezer drawer with an unusual noise. If I could pick 0 stars I would. I ordered 2 paintings online from Dufresne back at the beginning of November. Was told I would have them before Christmas. It's now Mar 4th and am still waiting for them. Every time I call to inquire, I am told it will be another month. Who's painting these, Picasso? So over waiting. We travelled 4 hours one way to pick up a brand new freezer ($1300.00). Cost $200.00 travel time. Got it back home after a long days drive and the freezer was badly damaged. Some one in the warehouse dropped it on the corner where the themostat is located. SHAME on Dufrense to sell damaged goods. They should have checked over their goods before loading on the truck. Was it because a lady was the pruchaser and they thought she would be a push over? We were a loyal customer but they cannot be trusted. The worst service you could ever have when calling with a complaint I got a notice that I was getting a delivery of furniture to my house at the wrong address not only could I not call the actual store when I called customer service after three tries I got off the computer system. The lady proceeded to tell me that I was incorrect and this is what I was getting, which was the wrong furniture, when I asked if she could contact the store to get a correct because I take the time off work for the delivery her response wise we cannot contact stores I will put in a ticket they will get back to you in 48 hours 24 hours after the scheduled delivery horrible read more

The sales representative Joshua was really helpful, explained to us everything, gave us a lot of options but we were not able to buy since the available TV size was too big for our place. I had to confirm if i was picking up. Then customer service agent casually says sorry it's not available. Demanded for a manager to phone me to explain but nobody did. They had me waiting for nothing. Too bad there is no zero star they dont even deserve one star. Very unprofessional. They put it on sale online just to entice you to buy even if item is not available. Buyer beware. They charge your credit card right away even if item is not available. Their company is trash. I recently bought a new Fridgidaire range and Maytag dishwasher from Dufresne Nairn Ave store! Initial dealings with salesman were good until I took delivery of the Fridgidaire range. I picked it up and left on my truck for 4 days until a friend was able to assist with moving into the house. After unboxing the range I discovered the glass top was chipped. I attended the store to request a replacement unit. I was told that I needed to report any damages within 4 days of receiving the appliance .. this was never explained to me by the salesman at time of purchase!! I was then told I needed to open a claim .. this was done in store and was told customer care would contact me within 48 hrs. I received this call within 1/2 hr of leaving the store .. customer care told me they would contact a 3rd party repairman that would set up a time to look at the appliance and determine if a replacement glass top or appliance was needed. I replied indicating that a complete replacement unit was my choice and did not want to deal with a 3rd party repair service out in the rural area where I live! I was told this was not an option. I then returned to the Dufresne Nairn ave store and asked to talk to the store manager. I discussed this problem with her and was told that Dufresne store policy was that they " OFFLOAD" warranty and repair to 3rd party repair companies thru their customer care department and that they could not just give me a replacement unit without going thru this process. I chose not to proceed with the 3rd party repair. I will likely sell this range privately at less $$ than what I paid for it just to get this appliance out of my home and not have to deal with Dufresne Furniture anymore. This is a very poor way of providing customer service .. OFFLOADING CUSTOMER CARE to 3rd party businesses instead of telling the customer that ... Yes , we will happily bring in a new replacement appliance and switch it out for our valued customer....VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE FROM DUFRESNE FURNITURE !!! Avoid this place like the plague! One year I went to buy a couch from them. I was looking for something in leather. They didn't have a huge selection of couches to begin with, but I did find one in leather that I really liked. I paid cash for it. Unfortunately when it arrived at my apartment building it would not fit into my elevator. Since it was the only couch that they had that I remotely liked, I asked for a refund of my money minus the delivery charge. They refused to refund my money. The couch was not a custom order; it was Warehouse stock. Yet they would not give me my money back. So I ended up buying the matching loveseat, which I hated from the get-go. Not only was it not what I wanted. It was super lightweight; I could lift up one end by myself and I'm not a very strong person. And because it was a love seat I could not stretch out on it, even when I sat sideways I could not straighten my legs. Plus the legs were inset about two inches from each side and when you went to get up off of it it tip forward. In addition to that I had bought my coffee table and end tables at a different store and I had bought them to match the couch. So they dwarfed the loveseat and the whole setup looked stupid. Less than 2 years later the cushions on the seat, back, and arms was cracking and tearing. I paid $1,800 for a leather loveseat that turned out to be a combination of leather and PVC vinyl. I also bought a queen size Sealy mattress and box spring from them. I also bought a frame that had a support bar in the middle. And they made me buy a mattress cover because it was a requirement for the warranty. My bed is five years into a 10 year warranty. One side of it is bulging out. And when I lay on it I feel Springs despite it having a pillow top. They and Sealy refused to honour my warranty, because there are two or three very faint discolorations on the mattress. I didn't even see them until the guy who came here to assess my bed pointed them out. The stains are results of a chemical reaction from perspiration and body oils reacting with the fabric of the matters. According to 3 different steam cleaning companies, these stains will never come out, not even with steam cleaning. There will always be residual staining. And Dufresne and Sealy have both told me that the mattress cannot have any stains of any kind on it and must look like it had just come off the showroom floor. Dufresne won't even submit my claim. My friend's husband used to work at a mattress store selling all types of beds including Sealy. He told me to make sure that I do not steam clean the bed, because Sealy will use it as another excuse to not cover the warranty. They will claim that there was moisture left in the mattress and it caused a breakdown of the materials. In fact they're claiming that the staining on my bed, which is purely cosmetic (caused from the chemical reaction of perspiration and body oils with the mattress fabric), caused a breakdown of the mattress material, which is not covered under warranty. I am so disgusted with Dufresne and Sealy. I've contacted Marketplace and I'm going to be contacting CBC go public as well as the Better Business Bureau. Give your money to a company that's got a reputable reputation and that will stand behind their products. read more

I have made two furniture claims in the last two years, providing photos of the defects and asking for repair or replacement. They have 'lost' the claims, including one from October 2022. The Guest Care phone rep tells me that the photos (the ones they can't find, on the claim they don't acknowledge) are "too old" so I had to resubmit them. This pattern of customer neglect is utterly reprehensible especially when the company brags of a 239% increase in automated customer support (https://www.yahoo.com/now/dufresne-group-tdg-achieves-239-160000708.html). What did they automate? Losing customer service requests? I've tried to reach out to someone in management at Dufresne but The Dufresne Group service centre email no longer works and current TDG executives do not deign to provide emails. Based on my experience, I can't say I blame them. (P.S. Watch the company response to this email. I bet it uses the same wording as all the other Dufresne reviews. Paid a lot of cash for an extended warranty on a kitchen full of new appliances. $20,000 dollar order. The handle snapped off the dishwasher. They would cover a new handle but refused to cover the gouge in the door caused by the handle breaking off. 15 year customer. I won't darken their door again. read more

If you ever plan on moving away from Winnipeg or the prairies, don't buy any extended warranty from these guys, they won't honor it.

They will not honour their service responsibilities. Our living room wall, and our new sofa was damaged by improper installation by the Dufresne/Ashley Furniture 'White Glove' Delivery Team. Repair technician wrote in his report this as the cause of the damage. Service Manager acknowledged the company's fault - but still refused to repair the sofa. Also refused to make a copy of the technician's report. In fact all communication has been through 'Guest Care' agents who work as buffers between the customer and service manager. Managers will absolutely not speak directly to customers. This makes it much easier for them to refuse service. This is a highly disreputable company. I was warned before dealing with them that they will not honour their obligations if there are problems. I ignored the advice. I highly advise you avoid both Dufresne and Ashley Furniture - they're owned by the same corporation, and share the same Guest Care scheme. Their business model is to go to extravagant lengths to refuse service. Our issue could have been fixed very easily at minimal cost - and we'd have remained good, happy customers. They will look for any reason to not help you. Best of luck if you decide to gamble on this horribly run business. Once you pay, you're on your own - so if you do gamble and buy from them - for God's sake to not purchase the extended warranty. They are absolutely not there to help, and could care less about customer service. read more

My father bought a Bluetooth speaker from this store, first the salesman said he doesn't have it in stock but than later on he found out one and sold it to him. No body told my father about the return policy of just 48 hours just asked him to sign the receiving document, my father have language problem. He went to store to return it, they refused, I have talked to guest care, I have talked to customer service at store but none of them would do anything about it. They are so rude. I wish I could give no stars. This is the worst furniture company I have ever dealt with. The furniture is of poor quality, they do not honor the extended warranty and guest care (technicians also) need better training. Furthermore, they do not stand behind their product. The phrase "the customer is always right" does not ring true with this company. All they are trained to do is sell garbage and then hide behind policies. In all my years of owning furniture I've never had anything break down the way Dufresne furniture has. When I reached out to use my extended warranty I was told that the problem was normal wear and tear. Then they so graciously allowed me to pay $6.00/hour in labor plus parts. Excuse me? Ordered 2 couches from Winnipeg store and they were sent to Kenora store for delivery to our summer residence. was charged 149.00 for delivery. absolutely awful delivery service and followup. They broke screen door,ripped screen in 3 places and scraped walls and door frame. They said they would repair it but could not possibly do it until fall. meanwhile cottage full of bugs so unable to open door. after several complaints they finally sent someone who told us he was supposed to throw a little money at us to make us go away. After many phone calls they finally came an did what they should have done in the first place. They took the door away and fixed it in about 2 hours. In December we purchased two full bedroom suites and mattresses from this store. This was for Christmas gifts for our teens. After the purchase, we received our delivery as planned on December 23rd. The white dresser for my daughter was so badly damaged the delivery guys would not even remove it from the truck. They showed us pictures where each top side was smashed. After calling customer care it was determined this would be coming after Christmas. We offered at that time to go to the warehouse and pick up the dresser because we had our truck temporarily licenced for removal of the old units which we had given away. We were told this is not an option and that we could not pickup from the warehouse. (opportunity 1 to correct that was missed). We scheduled our next delivery for December 28th. We made sure to be home on a holiday day to receive the delivery. When this one arrived it too was damaged in a similar manner. We rescheduled for January 2nd. This one was also damaged but this time differently. One drawer was damaged. My husband asked if we could just exchange the drawer. We were told no. (opportunity 2 to correct that was missed). We rescheduled again. We were still being gracious but on the phone my husband expressed some frustration that we could not keep that unit. The person on the line said it should have been left with us. We rescheduled for Saturday January 6th. Here is where our frustration really begins to grow. I had plans for that day in the city - and my husband who was out of town at our cabin for the last of his holidays cut short his time there to come receive the dresser. Which was damaged. Again very badly and far worse than the one we were not allowed to keep. There were large scratches, a chunk was broken off on the bottom and the back was bowed and falling off. We scheduled what was now going to be delivery # 5. We arranged to make sure to be home in time for delivery. It was the same dresser as previous. Someone had taken the time to take a paint marker to try to hide the scratch and had nailed on the back, but the bottom was still damaged and this was becoming frankly, rather frustrating. We scheduled again for the following Saturday. On Friday afternoon I still had no call from customer care. I called them and learned their system was down. My husband and I both had commitments that came up for Saturday morning. We were hoping that the delivery would be in the afternoon. At 6 that night I got a call that the delivery would come at 11:00am. I told them that would not work. By now, we had moved several other things around to accommodate the many deliveries and I was not willing to engage someone to take the delivery on my behalf. We rescheduled for Tuesday. On Monday I had not seen my usual confirmation texts. I called the customer care line where I ran into the one person on this journey that cared at all. Jennifer advised the appointment had not been booked. She went out of her way to contact the team to get us on the delivery for Tuesday. That is customer service. Sadly, the dresser arrived damaged. The driver supervisor was there and told us the crate at the bottom was smashed and the dresser badly damaged. Again there was no attempt to take the unit off the truck. I am not a difficult person and we have really tried to accomodate. When I recounted some of this to a supervisor she asked if we would take a damaged dresser. We would have taken the one with the scratched drawer. The others have had irrepairable severe damage. Now I am told there are none that are not damaged. I can take the floor model which is scratched for a whopping $100 off. She also offered that we could take a different dresser instead from a different set. This is truly unacceptable. I went back to the store for a second time and spoke with the manager. The response to investigating was delegated to the girl at the front desk to call me to tell me that they would not lend us a dresser (even damaged) until the new ones come in. I gave away the old bedroom sets before the delivery to make it easier on the delivery staff. To be clear, we are not being particular here - in all but the one case where we were told we could not exchange the drawer, the condition of each was worse than what you would see in a scratch and dent sale. Save yourself the trouble. Almost nobody there cares at all about the product or their customers. read more

Purchased ALL of my appliances (fridge, stove, microwave/range hood, dishwasher, dryer, washer) from Dufresne two years ago. I purchased an extended warranty to cover all of my appliances for 4 years. My fridge broke on March 22nd, I called the customer service line explaining that my fridge doesn't keep anything cold, my freezer completely quit as well leading me to lose hundreds of dollars worth of food, and the ice maker did not make ice either... my fridge was totally broken. I was advised that someone would call me within 1-2 business days to service my fridge. It took 3 weeks for them to find someone to service my area as I live 45 mins north of the perimeter...I've made AT LEAST 15 calls to them as nobody called me back to update etc. Now I have been told to wait another 5-7 business days for the "parts" to hopefully fix my fridge... today is exactly one month without a working fridge... Dufresne has not offered a temporary replacement fridge or any compensation for hundreds of dollars worth of food that was lost... SO disappointed in this company and their lack of empathy/customer service. read more

My wife and I bought a dinning room set from Dufresne about a year ago. We only had it for a few months. The back of one of the chairs cracked right off when I sat in it and parts of the table starting chipping off. When I called the manager they said they would "fix" the table and chair. I asked them to replace it but they said if I wanted it replaced with something else I would have to pay a 20% restocking fee! What a joke. So I should be responsible to pay an extra $500 because they have poor quality furniture?! My wife and I both agreed to NEVER but from Dufresne again. Customer service was even worse then the quality of the furniture. I've talked to many people that have bought furniture at Dufresne who say they would never buy from there again due to a bad experience. Wish we would have known that before. read more

Bought a Front Load Washer from Dufresne after being very disappointed with a 1 year old top load HE purchased from our local appliance dealer (small town). Mark G from the Ellice Dufresne in Winnipeg was phenomenal. He knows his products and listened to everything I said. He was honest about the quality and kinds of appliances, knowing which ones I wouldn't be happy with. The delivery was great however the installation was a little bumpy (note to self - check it out before the guys leave.) Dufresne tried to help over the phone on the proper installation (1.5 hr out of Winnipeg) and when it wasn't working to my satisfaction was willing to reimburse our local repair man for the installation. I also received a $50 store credit for this inconvenience. The next week my 6 year old range quit - I called Mark G and he personally came in to meet me on his day off as I was only coming into the city for a course in the evening. Again listened to what I liked and required and was able to find a range that I absolutely love. He relayed some pointers on best practices for keeping my range in tip top shape and off we went! Great Service, Great Prices, Great Staff. I would recommend anyone and everyone to Mark G at Dufresne on Ellice Ave, Winnipeg, MB. read more
