My man! Fifty-Grande! I wanted to wait a minute before I wrote this review; because as the saying goes, "A dead clock is right twice a day". A few weeks ago my garage gave out. I watched a couple You-tube videos - turned my hat backwards and went for it. However, my phone is my second wife. I took to the internet and solicited three numbers for help. First one came to $3400 and change. Second one $2700 and change and a conference call to the big boss who came down to $700 with no guarantee it would work. Is or could the third time be the charm. After I slept on it for a few days and returned from a road trip I called back Dukes garage service and my man 'Nico' showed up. Nico was on time, debonair, and professional. I would like to give him a five out of five star for his professionalism, knowledge, and layman's term presentation. He was a straight shooter when I asked question(s), and what he felt I needed (no frivolous upselling). He asked me if I had question(s), explained what he was doing, and followed up with me through out the entire process. His knowledge showed as he said, "I see, understand, and can fix the issue today with certainty. He explained my options of upgrades if I so choose, but never married the upgrades with cost. He asked me what I wanted, how long I needed for the guarantee to last, and if I wanted a better system. I choose the basic and $140 dollars later my garage door is running smooth as ever going on three weeks. My man Nico Billeri ! Just a heads-up for anyone considering this company - be very careful. I left the experience feeling genuinely disappointed. In my opinion, their service lacked thoroughness, transparency, and professionalism. On 8/12, I reached out because my garage door suddenly stopped working and it wouldn't open or close. I tried some basic troubleshooting myself, thinking it might be a minor issue, but when that didn't work, I decided to call in a professional. To their credit, they were able to send someone out the same day, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, that's where the positives ended. The technician arrived, gave the unit a quick look, disconnected the motherboard, and tried swapping in a replacement from his truck. When that didn't solve the issue, he immediately concluded that the entire opener system needed to be replaced. He didn't check anything else. Even though the motor could still be heard trying to run, he wrote it off entirely. No deeper inspection, no real troubleshooting -- just a fast and expensive recommendation. He provided me a quote for nearly $600 to replace everything. Something about the whole interaction didn't sit right with me. I told the tech I'd think about it and asked him to email me the quote. After he left, I called my handyman to get a second opinion before moving forward. Thankfully, my handyman came out, took his time, and within minutes found the actual issue -- a faulty capacitor. He picked up a new one for $14, installed it, and just like that, the garage door was working perfectly again. No need for a full system replacement. Just someone willing to properly diagnose the issue. Needless to say, I was frustrated -- not only because I nearly spent hundreds of dollars unnecessarily, but because the technician never even checked the capacitor, which I later learned is a standard part of the diagnostic process. I called the company back on 8/15 to share my experience. The representative confirmed that yes, the capacitor should have been checked. She apologized and said she would escalate my complaint to a manager. I was told someone would follow up but I've heard nothing since. The whole thing felt rushed and careless. And honestly, it makes me wonder how many other customers have been advised to replace their whole system when a minor, inexpensive fix would have done the job. I understand that not every garage issue is going to be simple but I do expect a technician to go through all the standard steps before recommending a full replacement. Bottom line: Be cautious. Based on my experience, this company did not provide honest or thorough service. Always get a second opinion -- it could save you a lot of money and frustration. read more

Next day, first use the doors did not work again so I called to address the issue. A week later the technician showed up and said it is the sensors and would cost another $175 for the ($29) sensor. 2 minutes ago NEW Was happy with their Service until today. Scheduled them out to do some warranty work on a new Garage door that we purchased from them. We have been waiting for them to finish this up. We scheduled this service, made arrangements to be home from work at the scheduled time. They show up at my home two and a half ours early with no verbal communication . When we found out that he was there and left we asked if the tech was going to return at the Scheduled time they said no and wanted to reschedule for 9 days out. That's unacceptable, we can't afford to take more time off work to reschedule for their error. Jessie was the scheduling tech and had no concern that their mistake was greatly inconveniencing their customer. Really did not care. I ordered a $2369 garage door May 11th. The salesman wrote on the order it would be 2-4 weeks. Which was perfect as I wanted to paint my house first. It showed up on Friday the 13th of August. 3 months. The technicians didn't even leave me a manual or warranty info. The best part, it doesn't work. It binds and doesn't go up and down. I called at 4:50 the same day and they said sorry leave a message and Monday they might get back to you. Also I paid extra for decorative crown windows and it is just plastic trim over a square window. My wife arrived home from work and asked me to open garage door for her car. OOPS! Update: it's now Monday morning. I waited till after 9:10 (they open at 7) to call and have been on hold for 15 minutes. Operator finally acknowledges me and says I will forward info to the door department. Update : they did call back. They are sending someone today but I don't have a time. Annie sent Matt from the service department. He was professional , courteous and knowledgeable. He fixed the install problem and walked me through everything else. I was scheduled for an appointment twice in the last 10 days of March 2021. Both times, I received a last minute call from DGD that the Tech has to be pulled off the road. The caller gave the exact verbiage about a supervisor making this notification. Once is understandable- but twice. No apology given until I raise the issue after the second cancellation. My initial review when this garage door opener was installed was scathing. There wasn't much good about it. I've had trouble with the door opening since it was installed late last year. This week, however, I called to report the difficulties and Aaron came to fix it. I cannot say enough good things - Aaron is FOR SURE someone you would want to represent your company. I hired this company a couple years ago to replace my two rusted out garage doors. The work and material were great. But four days later, as I was arriving home, I saw a white van pull into my driveway all the way up to my garage door. So I parked on the street to watch to see what they were up to. Then I saw my garage door go up then back down. I drove up and approached the van asking what they wanted. The driver of the van said "I'm just looking...." and backed up and spun around and left before finishing his answer. I reported to the police but they said they could do nothing because the people did not enter the house. It's pretty obvious what happened here. The door installer had access to my door opener and could take the code off it. You figure the rest out. When I spoke with the company manager he was furious that I would accuse his employee. The service I have received on two occasions by a service technician from this establishment has been fantastic. The technician that came out the first time for one of my properties was the same one that I requested today when I had similar issue at my second property with the garage door tension spring, breaking at the worst time of the evening I called in the morning and he was there when I requested for him to come which was fantastic and again did an amazing job as I expected for a price that is unbeatable by any company out there. Therefore, I absolutely recommend this company and the service technicians to do the job right with the right materials and professionally as it should be done. Daniel, the technician is exceptional at what he does, and explaining everything in detail, and showing the quality difference in their springs, as they are galvanized and superior to last almost twice as long. He goes over the entire door to be sure that he's not missing anything and gives you an analysis not to upsell you, but just inform you and make you aware what is essential and what can be done in the future so again I highly recommend this particular company for all things. AVOID Discount Garage Doors, Inc. VERY BAD COMPANY! Please read before calling this company for service. Their Better Business Bureau rating is a D+. I called for warranty repair after installation by Discount Garage Doors, Inc. of a new spring caused our garage door to skew and stop working. The Discount Garage Doors technician, Allen, who did the original work came to the house but refused to honor the company's one-year warranty because labor is not part of the warranty. He insisted on selling more parts and installation services and said the problem could have been caused by "hundreds of things". First he said the door went crooked because bottom garage door bracket was broken. I said show me. The bracket was not broken at all. Backing off that position he said, "yeah, but it's bent one-inch". With disbelief I went to measuring it and he immediately said "it's more like a quarter inch". Today, a qualified garage door tech fixed the problem and without hesitation said the slight bend in the bracket would not have caused the door to skew and stop opening. The spring installation was found to be faulty. This company does not honor their warranties. When I wrote the company to get a final answer on honoring the warranty, the head of the company responded with condescending ridicule, sarcasm and childish remarks, including the threat to take my letter to their next meeting and laugh at it. They quote you a price and then the change the price. It was for a $2250 and when Travis came out and measured and said it was $2887 and I ask why so much. He said take it or leave it. He doesn't need to be a agent. Then I got a Email two wks later saying they had a sale until the end of month. The Email stated $1999 installation. Then we called them and the manager said no way that email said $1999. We said we have it and it was sent by DGD and then she I'm looking at. Well the store mgr. must be blind or can't read correct. We said we can toward it to you and she said in a smart remark that she looking at it. My daughter had one sliding installed from DGD and had 8 others call and they had them installed. My neighbor had hers installed for $2250 and five others of her friends. The word of mouth can hurt you and I live in a community 55 and older. It has around 2000 homes in it. I'm posting on the board not to use DGD, with so many of friends already had them installed, its a shame how DGD treats you on the phone and the measurement man acts smart and says take it or leave it. Let me start by stating this company is definately not a "discount / cheaper than others company. The last garage door springs I had replaced cost me a total of $178.00. This repair from Discount Garage Doors cost me $652.70 . This is an outrageous price to me. I do realize costs have gone up but over three times what I paid previously from another company is way over priced to me. I did get an estimate and did approve repair cost but my car was stuck in garage and I needed repair done. I feel like some parts replaced were added on but not totally needed to build up cost of repair. The prices for parts are outrageous. The springs alone were $187.00 each (times two for $374.00) . Labor price $115.00 was fair but also charged a fuel/misc charge of $33.95 ? I did select a 10 year warranty which did add an additional $133.65 to the total repair price. Big mistake for me because the claim is their parts used are best in industry so they should last 10 years anyway. Should have just selected five year warranty. I read back of invoice today and it states you "Must" have garage door serviced by Garage Door Repair company every two years to keep warranty in effect anyway. That's another service charge every two years for who knowd what cost would be?? I actually maintain and do regular maintenance on my own door regularly anyway. Just would not attempt spring replacement. In fairness the technician that came out was very cordial and explained all that he was doing . I would give him a five star rating. I would not recommend this company and would say to all to get different estimates from companies before accepting repair. I just needed to get my car out of garage or I would have gotten additional estimates. read more

Best service ever. Didn't try to over sell us. Service person actually fixed our original garage door mechanics, told us had to replace the driver and tighten the rollers. Said our 25 year old door was in great shape. Have several years on the door. I was contacted on time and arrival time. Part had to be ordered and everything was on time next day, we are extremely happy, thought we would need an actual Gargage door. Like several of our neighbors had to do. We got the right one!!! Discount does the bare minimum, and after coming back a second time they to fix a squeak in their installation, the tech told me "it wasn't like that when I left" two weeks later it was squeaking again, Discount refused to send a different worker, so we called a local guy (Reeds) to fix the problem. read more

Do not be fooled by all of their rave reviews. They installed a golf cart garage door and opener on my Father In Laws garage the first week of May after waiting for weeks for the installation. The installer drilled a hole through the metal roof to anchor the opener opposed to doing it correctly by installing 2x4 to anchor the opener. The first rain the roof started leaking. The have caulked the roof four times and have had to replace the opener three times now; due to the rain getting into the electrical components and shorting them out. I requested that they put a new roof on the garage since the shotty patch work that they keep trying to make the repairs with does not hold up. Each attempted repair the roof leaks after the first rain. The Operations Manager Will last name not provided doesn't even have enough respect to call me back, he has his office manager Christy deliver his message that he is not going to replace the roof but will offer to caulk it again. The roof did not have holes in it and did not leak, nor need any caulk until this unprofessional, untrained installer decided to drill holes in the roof. I have been more than patient with this company in trying to get my 90 year old Father In Laws roof repaired. They didn't waste any time getting the 2,000.00 that they charged deposited into the bank, but they refuse to make things right. SHAME ON YOU DISCOUNT GARAGE DOORS. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! A couple of weeks ago my garage door broke early in the morning. After thinking through all of the big name garage door companies in the area I decided to call Discount Garage Door first. First and last time I will ever be doing that. They told me they would be out later that day. I came home from work to meet them and was given a number of incredibly expensive options to fix/upgrade my garage door. I was told at minimum I would need to have a reinforcement bracket installed and replace the rollers on my garage door. They initially gave me a price of well over $400 for this but after finding a coupon for me ended up charging $375. At the time I needed the door fixed and due to various circumstances didn't have time to call anyone else to compare pricing or do the work myself. I agreed to have them do the work. In all the technician didn't spend more than 25 minutes installing the bracket and rollers. Later that evening after thinking about the amount of work that was done I decided to do some research on how much the parts were that they used to do the job. The reinforcement bracket was found for a mere $25 at any local hardware store and a set of ten 13 ball bearing rollers were available on Amazon for less than $20. Talk about feeling hosed and taken advantage of. I was charged $375 for 25 minutes of labor and less than $50 in parts. I fully understand that companies are in business to make money and are entitled to make a fair profit but in this situation I felt incredibly taken advantage of as a consumer who didn't do his research and was forced to make a rushed decision. After calling a couple of the other big name garage door companies I was told I could have had the same repair done for as little as $200 which I would have felt was incredibly fair for the work done. I did reach out to Discount Garage Door after the fact to discuss the situation but was basically given a "tough luck, you already paid for the services, there is nothing else we will do for you". This was a lesson learned for me. While this company's work quality might be fine, their pricing and value is not. They have lost my business moving forward. read more

This company is NOT trustworthy, so I wouldn't recommend them or use them ever again. I scheduled an appointment with them because my garage door wasn't staying closed. On visit 1, according to the tech, who didn't bother to troubleshoot whatsoever immediately said, "99.9% of the time the problem with a garage door not staying closed is a circuit board." As it turned out, the $200 circuit board didn't solve the problem, hence visit 2 where he diagnosed a $14 wall remote as the problem but didn't fix it then because they "have to order wall remotes." Now, I understand why they don't troubleshoot and offer only one solution for such problems. I also now understand why the tech said on visit 1 that "...might not have the circuit board I needed because he had replaced so many the day before." The circuit board is much more money for them!!! Screw the customer. Visit 3, the tech replaces the wall remote with a new remote, and though it was supposed to be the same wall remote, it was not because the sensor was missing, so they schedule visit 4 to insert the sensor, but they call me during the scheduled window for visit 4 to tell me they weren't coming because they had to order a part. So, they reschedule visit 4 and then don't show. When I call about their not showing, they give me some bs about it not being on the schedule because part was on order. Problem is: I was told I had an appointment and no one communicated otherwise. Save yourself the headaches and $$$$-use anyone but them! read more

I initiated a chat on Saturday afternoon and representative called me back to set up an appointment for a quote Monday afternoon between 4 and 7 pm. The time came and went with no one showing up or calling. I called them at 7:15 and was told that they had been calling me since 4 pm and were receiving a busy signal. Upon asking what number they called, they had called an incorrect phone number. Yet, they had called the correct phone number with no issue on Saturday to set up the appointment. I was told the tech was no longer in the area and then they asked if they could set up another appointment. I declined. I already had taken off of work to make sure I was at home before the 4 pm start window once, not going to get burned a second time. Not sure why the tech never bothered to stop by even though the appointment was set. I understand you may not want to stop by if you can't get a hold of someone, but this does not account for when you, the company, gets the phone number wrong for the appointment, even though you got the phone number right to set the same appointment.............Will not be recommending.
