Starts off in a cavern that served as a wine cellar, then you make your way up to several floors of medieval times exhibits. The day we went the elevator wasn't working so you had to take the narrow set of stairs to get up and down, which made it very busy when there was a school field trip going through. Overall it's a nice exhibit. You have to enjoy history if you want to enjoy museums typically. The surrounding area around the museum is also nice to check out.

The lift was out of order so some climbing was involved, but nothing too bad. There were short films to watch and a variety of items, including primary documents. Good to visit if you like history and reading about the different things. Only walked the other museums but you can pay to visit all of them, too.

This was quite the delightful museum in one of the main churches in downtown Kilkenny. We made an…read moreappointment for a tour, a couple weeks ahead of time, it had a very nice time seeing the grounds. As with most places in Ireland, there is an incredible amount of history that had occurred just in the immediate vicinity. We learned about the history of the church, the area, the people who had built it, and the people who have kept it running. There were some pretty amazing artifacts that had come from the grounds, primarily during renovations, and some incredibly ornate headstones. The whole tour lasted about an hour, was contained within the church and the courtyard, and there were also some fun Legos that were hidden throughout the place that kept our kids entertained. Don't forget to go in the upper room. It has a beautiful view out to the city! All in all, this is a great spot and well worth your time.

Excellent tour of the Dunbrody! Our guide, Adam, and the two re-enactors were perfect. We received…read morea great deal of information about the Dunbrody, and the living conditions onboard the voyage to Savannah. The actors represented a first class passenger and steerage passenger with her baby, talking to us in the middle of steerage quarters. They were wonderful! After Adam and the actors, we toured the quarantine area and quarters for first class passengers. We also posed by the bell and steering wheel. The section after the tour was a revelation of Irish who immigrated to United States - Maureen O'Hara, Walt Disney, JFK's great grandfather, and so many others. The gift shop had reasonably priced souvenirs. We bought shirts, necklaces, chocolate and a polo shirt for under $74. Leaving the ship area, we admired the emigrant flame, lit from the eternal flame at JFKs' sure in DC.

Reginald's Tower was originally built as a Viking fort for defense. If you go across the street by the water, you can see a cannonball that is still stuck in the facade. Inside, there's a small museum where you can learn more about it's history.

I figured I would only have time for the one, but I emerged (awestruck, as per my other review) around 4:15 and so asked if I could then add on the 3 euro for the Palace. Well, one of the curators just walked over with me instead, unlocked the door, and showed me in. No matter how many times I insisted, no one there would let me pay, offering a variety of excuses. So first of all, I love Waterford and want to live there now. Second of all, this is a completely different experience from the Medieval Museum. Its history starts in the modern era. Finally of all, just see this. It's opulent. There are rooms full of Waterford crystal items you can't imagine. There are rooms that exist just to flaunt their plushness. There are still more artifacts here, so what I would say is buy the combo ticket, see the Medieval Museum first (1200 to mid-17th century), then come over here and continue (18th-19th centuries). That's all your history in two adjacent buildings, and then you're free to walk around and photograph all the history of Waterford. There's a reason tourists are always doing the Viking Triangle. I can't vouch for the third leg, but the first two are craic.

Not because of the sites to see, but because of how long the tour guide takes to share some interesting history. Overall, it's a nice cave to visit. The people who work there are beyond friendly, happy to help you with any tourist questions and serve as a great guide. Plus a lovely little dog is there to visit! So the cave has five main areas. Each where you stop to look at the wall and learn about the water, rocks, animals and history. I wasn't super enthused but of all the things you can do in Ireland, it's not so bad. Heard it's the best of the caves to see, depends on what you're into and your attention span. At the very end we had the option to stand in complete darkness, it was so scary! You couldn't even see your hand front of your face. We did get to see a bat though!
