Stay away from this company if you want to do some professional work at your pool Hired this guy to do a pool depth reduction and install new liner at my house. During the work there were some unconventional situations, but we moved along as we were promised our pool and work would be properly finished by the promised date. The pool floor was meant to be fully smooth, ready for the new liner. These guys seemed to have never used any sort of professional equipment or materials used for concrete work, and the concrete job was really manual and didn't look smooth. After installing the liner, the job seemed finished and they did it by the promised date, but there were a few things pending to be done. Before we made our last payment, we discussed them and Dan promised he would finish them within one or two weeks. He never showed up again. Within a few days after our last payment, we realized the pool floor had several pointy spots on the new liner, like having small stones underneath, which could be bad for the liner. When we asked them to please take a look at it, he ghosted us until now. He seemed to be very kind before we made the final payment. The pool job is not right, as the liner is in high risk having these several pointy spots underneath. They left concrete patches on my driveway They left spots and stains with concrete on the pool walls, which they never removed or cleaned. They damaged the grass on mi front yard, despite the fact that we told them not to put the gravel on top of the grass. They damaged our patio stone work, and promised they would come to fix it within one or two weeks. Never happened and it's more than a month already. Debris and other pieces of equipment were left at the house for additional days. They even left the debris from the old diving board which we discussed when we got a quote. Dan claimed he never included that in the price. So he left the debris there. He charged more than additional $1000 in fees beyond our original quote for things that were "not included" and credit card payment fees, which were never mentioned. Beware. In September we hired them to do minor construction on our pool and install a new pool liner. I signed a contract and I paid upfront to get a small discount on the job. They started the work and then disappeared. This company left with $10K of our families hard earned money, damage to our back yard and pool, and we were devastated. Repairs to the damage done to our backyard and pool and re ordering the liner cost us another $16K on top of the $10K we lost. (Shout out to Creative Organics and BT Pools for helping us fix this!) Are we at fault for not doing more research? Of course. Are we at fault for taking a discount on the project cost to pay this company upfront? Of course. We have learned a hard lesson. We have gone through lawyers, we have a small claims case, but the old saying "cant get blood from a stone" applies here. I just want to warn the community of this company and suggest to everyone to do their research thoroughly before hiring anyone. If I had of researched Dundas Valley Pools first, I would NEVER have hired them to install our above ground pool. They are unreliable to show up when promised. It is extremely hard to get the owner, Dan, to answer your calls and e-mails. We ended up having to drain and fill our pool three times because they did not install the liner properly - said parts were missing, which they should have known if they knew what they were doing. Hence, I had a HUGE water bill that month. They didn't ask where I would like the filtration system installed and just went ahead and installed it where our platform for our ladder system was located (from our previous pool), and installed our ladder system on an old wooden skid where we had the filtration system before, and hence the ladder was not level and sloped into the pool - which was very dangerous. After many phone messages and e-mails from me, my adult son, and adult daughter, they finally returned to make a level patio stone platform for the ladder - shoddy work was done with an attitude - so unprofessional. But that was not the end of their poor workmanship. Our pool water went green twice, even though I keep the pump running 24/7. It took two jugs of chlorine each time to clear the water. I asked my pool guy, Don (Don's pools and spas), who cleans, opens and closes pools, to come have a look and he discovered that they did not install the chlorinator properly so no chlorine was going into the pool. No wonder it kept going green. It was these guys who recommended that I buy a chlorinator and said they would install it. Obviously they do not know what they are doing. I just hope I don't have any more problems with our pool because chances are they won't respond. read more

This was our worst nightmare using this fraudulent company. We hired them to put in an above ground pool at a charge of $14,000. They didn't have a clue as to what they were doing. The ground was not smoothed out or tamped down. The bolts were put in all the wrong places resulting in the pool tilting over and the liner ripping. We begged them to come and help us out but they stood us up three times. We found them one day three doors away opening a pool and just ignored us. We asked them for some compensation........no response. Now here is the interesting part. We went to the big pool shops and they set us up with a most wonderful man who had to totally take out the pool, purchase a new one and install at a cost of $7,000. Can't take them to court because they have no money. They should be out of business for the harm they have caused us and three other families we have been in touch with who have had nothing but trouble with this company. I quoted this company with three other local pool companies for pool repair work and selected Dundas Valley Pools because their price was competitive. The other pool companies said the work would take anywhere from 2-4 hours, Dundas Valley Pools did their interpretation of the work in 45 min. The work was not done to the scope of the project and simply done as quickly as possible, leaving our pool area looking worse then when the work began. When I engaged the company owner seeking comprimise, acknowledging that there must have been miscommunication on both sides about the scope of the work and suggested that my family simply be billed for the time, the owner response hostile and dishonest, suggesting there could be a discount for future work. No chance! Do yourself a favour stick with the better known companies that stand behind their work and have the reputation and referrals to prove it. read more

Do not hire this company for a liner install. We put a deposit down on a new liner install in September. Dan advised us the install could be done mid October this year. We never received confirmation the liner had been ordered so We tried to contact Dan several times by phone, text message, email and Facebook messenger to confirm that the liner had been ordered and to get an eta on the liner install so we could order a water truck. This communication started in September. We did not receive one response From this company. Our final email sent late October was to request a refund for our deposit. We then contacted MasterCard to dispute the charge as no product or service was delivered from the merchant. We finally received a call from a lady who said she did not work for Dundas valley pools nor was affiliated with them but Dan asked her to call us to advise he missed a measurement when measuring for the new liner and therefore the liner had not been ordered. He would have to come out and remeasure in the spring and order liner then. The only reason they contacted us at all is because MasterCard clawed back the deposit from them ! If he knew this in September he should have come back out to measure or at the very least contact us to let us know that the liner had not been ordered and that the install would not be til next year! After reading the reviews on Dundas valley pools on bad liner installs I think we may have dodged a bullet however We are now left scrambling to find someone else to install a liner spring/summer of 2022. No one will come out and measure now as it's too late in the season and vinyl prices are going up ! Every reputable pool company is already booked for spring of 2022. DO NOT let this company sway you with their promises and pricing ! Once they have you they will not respond. Pay more for a reputable company and peace of mind! read more

This is the worst and most unresponsive and unprofessional company I have ever used. If you're willing to pay market price for an incomplete liner and leaks after that they won't fix, and pay thousands of dollars in wasted water, this is the company for you. Please learn from our experience and stay away!!! Here is my dreadful experience I thought we started off well with a quote for a new pool liner as we sold our home and wanted to give the new owners a great experience with our backyard oasis. We agreed on a fair price and we also had them close the pool for us last spring. All went well we thought and during the discussion of the liner they were very prompt to reply. We had booked for May 8th to get the liner installed. I guess there was a mix up and they came the next day. They came and tire the old liner off. They said they'll have to come back during the week to install it. Our closing was May 28th, so we figured no big deal we have some time, however if we were planning on using it ourselves I would have been beyond frustrated with the weeks it took to have a liner installed that caused leaks and started falling off. Finally after about two weeks and a dozen unread or unattended messages for the owner, they finally came. I was beyond patient as I didn't want to cause any reason for them not to finish. Install was near done and we were instructed to fill up the pool to a certain point, and after they would come to finish. Got the water to that point and it was another few days before they came back to finish, only to tell us there was an issue and we had to drain the pool again at our expense. We did so, they came back and spent another day trying to fix it. All was well we were told and so we started to fill up the pool again. There were some parts comming off the top of the liner, so we told them, and again, drain fix and refill at our expense. We are now the day before closing our house when I noticed again the liner slipping. I told the owner and said he will have to work out some time with three new owners to come fix. The family was very understanding and beyond patient. They tried several times to get a hold of the owner after they noticed a heavy amount of water being lost from the pool. The owner would not respond. I tried phoning them and nothing. Not until I phoned from a different number, then they picked up. He claimed he sent a leak detection company and they fixed the issue, but the issue was not fixed. The new owners after several attempts had to phone another company to go and fix the leak. What a complete mess! I was told there was a warranty for the liner and their workmanship, which obviously isn't true as they were dodging our calls. If I could have chosen zero stars, I would have. I purchased a home with a pool. The previous owners hired DVP to install a new liner prior to us moving in. They day we moved in, the pool was half full-it's clear there was a major leak. It took about a week via text messages for Dan to address the issue. He sent me a YouTube video of the "bucket test". I emphasized that I was losing approx 8-12 inches of water every 24 hrs, but he never replied. Eventually in trying to reach him, I came across a Google instant message feature. I mentioned all my attempts to reach him and my leak problem. He emailed shortly thereafter (I know now that those messages were public, so he was trying to salvage his reputation). He didn't ever get back to me, but instead sent a contracted Leak Detector (Leak Detectives). The "repair" to the leaks can barely be called that. If I can't attach a picture, imagine 2 holes covered with chewed bubble gum that barely covers the area. That was the "fix." When my pool continued to leak, both myself and the previous owners tried to reach him multiple times. He was ignoring all text messages, voicemails, emails etc. It got to the point that we were both reaching out to him multiple times a day, every day. It took me 6 weeks to finally reach him, and it was only after I threatened legal action and negative reviews. He came to look at the leaks. He dipped his head into my pool, rubbed some caulking over the area, and said that would hold until he could come back to patch it. Canadian Leak Detection came the next day (Buds Pools and Spas sent them. I hired them for service when Dan was avoiding my correspondence). They said the only way to permanently fix the leak was vinyl welding. Dan had suggested a patch kit from his truck. When I asked him to pay for the 2nd leak detection (since he would have paid to send his own contractor for a follow-up, had he answered my calls), and for the vinyl welding (if he couldn't offer a fix more permanent than a patch kit), he stopped answering my texts again. I will never use this company again, and I plan to share my story with everyone I can so nobody else has to experience this frustration and lack of service. He has some nice looking work on his website, but based on my experience, I wouldn't be surprised if it was shoddy work. (FYI, the new liner he installed has wrinkles in it and is drooping from the coping in various places. It's warranted for him to fix at closing, but I will have someone else do it and send him the bill through my lawyer). I was not the person who originally hired him, so I don't know what gave the previous owners the confidence to choose his company. What I do know, is that he is unable to deal with conflict or controversy in a professional manner. I've been very reasonable and tempered in my communications. His reason for not getting back to me was that he's been busy this pool season and he can't keep track of his messages (even if this were true, that's not a great way to run a business). I know this is BS because the text I sent with the word "lawyer" received a reply within 5 minutes. I could honestly write pages more detailing our interactions, my impressions and experiences, but I'd like to take some time to post this on other review sites before anyone else gets duped by him. Seems to me he's a guy who knows enough about pools to have started and expanded his small business, but in no other way was he prepared for the actual business side of running a company. Trust me-you get what you pay for. Dish out your $$$ to a competent and trusted company up front.
