I had once thought this place to be the best in Siouxland for eye care because the Dunes has good quality in all aspects. However, to say I had a good time for this particular visit is far from the truth. I've had Lasik, mind you, so I don't have much to my prescription. But I needed the Rx to order contacts online. After making me wait 10 minutes and me visibly getting annoyed, asking when I'll be seen, they make me wait another 5 until the doctor sees me. The doctor himself was nice, gave good information. But afterwards at check out I had to wait. And wait. And wait. For the doctor to do what? Send over my Rx from the other room? I wrote down my email so they could send it because I couldn't wait longer. The WHOLE DAY PASSES and still nothing. I paid 100 dollars for these tests for the *SOLE* reason to get this Rx and I don't get it. I call again the next day to complain and they claim they didn't have my email. Bullshit. Get out of here with that crap. There's only a limited amount of people in that office so accountability cannot be an issue. Only after threatening a chargeback did they finally email me my prescription. After getting a snarky front desk lady. Lovely. Either this place had a bad day, or they're running things poorly. Regardless, no customer likes to be at the receiving end of that incompetence. This place can kick the fattest rocks. read more

Needed a last minute contact fitting and Dr. O'Neal was able to get me in this last Friday morning. The staff was very professional, new patient check in was a breeze. The tech was very nice and got all of the pre-work done with no problem. The technology at Dune Eye Consultants is fantastic. Everything seemed state of the art. We took images of the back of the eye without having to dilate. Dr. O'Neal was very considerate when we were testing my vision. I would definitely recommend going here if you need any sort of eye check up. I know I'll be back! read more

I have been a patient of Dr. Ferguson's for about 8 years. I was referred to his business by a friend. At the time, Dunes Eye was the only retailer in the Sioux City area who had a designer frame boutique. Up until 2018, Dr. Ferguson had been quite helpful in helping resolve my eye problems and constant headaches. Dr. Ferguson is one of the pioneers for "neurolens" which is an extremely complicated, time consuming, and expensive eye therapy. On the surface, it sounds extremely beneficial and produces positive results. Over the past couple years, this has become Dr. Ferguson's main priority. It's all he speaks about and he wants to enroll as many patients as possible for the "neruolens" treatment. I have been a faithful patient of Dr. Ferguson's, despite living our of state for the past 8 years. This has never been a problem until now. In May 2018, Dr. Ferguson spent about 10 minutes with me during my yearly exam (of those 10 mins, he talked about "neurolens" for 8). Afterwards, I could not meet with an optical consultant because the wait was too long. I took my prescription to a LensCrafters in Chicago to purchase frames and lenses. I purchased poly carbonate lenses with a yellow tint to reduce straining computer light. Upon receiving the frames and lenses, I noticed something was not quite right. Since I have astigmatism, I assumed the poly carbonate lenses were causing my "fish bowl effect". I returned the lenses and had high index lenses put in them. Once receiving the new lenses, I still could not see. At this point, I went back to Dr. Ferguson in August of 2018 to have my eyes re-checked. Dr. Ferguson completely changed my prescription and had lenses put in free of cost. Due to all of the inconveniences, he had them put a rush on the remake. The lenses were promised to me by Friday (the 17th), but I did not receive them until Monday the 27th of August. Due to all of the frustration and issues caused, I have been in contact with Tiffany Elias, the operations manager at Dunes Eye. She has been unwilling to make amends for their mistakes and insists that I visit the LensCrafters in Chicago to have them solve the problems. Dunes Eye is refusing to take responsibility for the problems I've faced and they are not offering any concessions. In fact, they are forcing me out of their practice and refusing to speak with me. Dr. Ferguson has not even had the courtesy to return my calls or messages. I'm appalled by the lack of customer service I have faced by Dunes Eye, especially since I've been a loyal patient for nearly 8 years. I've been dealing with this ongoing issue since May of 2018. I have been to LensCrafters in Chicago about a dozen times for assistance. LensCrafters Chicago has literally been doing Dr. Ferguson's job for him, which I believe is completely unfair. Since Dr. Ferguson is my eye doctor, I would expect him and Dunes Eye to make all necessary adjustments when needed. Instead, I am having to visit LensCrafters regularly and LensCrafters is having to relay information to Dunes Eye. Any rational person would agree that this is ridiculous. I'm very disappointed with this entire debacle. There's a very clear lack of concern and customer service from Dunes Eye, which is disheartening. I've never had a doctor refuse to speak with me and not be apologetic. If you want expensive visits, over priced frames and lenses, long wait times, rude staff, and a doctor who doesn't care about his patients then Dunes Eye is the place for you. Otherwise, I suggest saving your time and money and visiting another optometrist in the Sioux City area. read more

Dr. O'Neil and his staff are meticulous and thorough. Great with kids and adults.

This place is legit. My dad was having some acute visual problems, didn't have an appointment, were able to squeeze us in the schedule. Full work up indicating that everything was relatively fine. Good to have peace of mind and know that Dunes Eye Consultants is there when we need it. Staff was professional, the facilities were top notch. Dr Fergason was fantastic. We didn't use these services, but they also have an optics shop for glasses, aesthetics spa, etc. Coffee and cookies are also a nice touch. read more

Loved this place. The staff is so kind and comfortable. I was getting lasik and they treated me like I was the only patient there. My surgery went fantastic, and would highly recommend this place to everyone. You won't have any regrets. read more

Every interaction with this clinic has been a huge pain! Two exams: I've had to sit in the waiting room for 30 to 45 minutes both times. At least there's lots of glasses to try on while I wait. The staff that does eye tests have been great, they're professional and nice. But then comes the Dr Ferguson... He didn't listen to my needs. He tried to diagnose me with chronic dry eye. Wouldn't really explain treatment options and wanted to schedule more appointments for more exams. I've never had problems before, I was just there to update my Rx. It didn't make sense until one day when I called to talk to the optics department and was placed on hold for 5 minutes, so I got to listen to their recording: "Dunes Eye Consultants is a diagnostic eye center with emphasis on SPECIALIZED care for dry eye, diabetes, glaucoma, ocular hypertension, allergies, macular degeneration and cataracts." (Direct quote from their webpage) Pretty convenient that I would all of the sudden have a chronic problem, ya know- because they specialize in it, especially since I have stellar eye insurance. Cha-Ching!! It all went downhill from there. I argued with the nice lady who was getting my contacts over size and brand. (She ended up being not so nice- and pretty immature) I just wanted the same size & brand of contacts I've had for 15 years! Now they hardly return my calls regarding my contact order, and when they do the women in the optics department always have a pissed-to-meet-you tone. Joy. As soon as I get my yearly supply of contacts, I'm outta there! I will never see Dr Ferguson again. Find an Optometrist with a better bedside manner and more helpful, positive staff. read more
