Being serious, who knew this place in Manteno could be so good. It looks like an unassuming small…read moretown cafe with a few slots. Darla's claims to be a deli and gaming parlor, and the food is better than expected. Has actual beers and deli meats to choose from. There's also a few healthy options. A little place on the end of a strip mall. It doesn't look like much, and it isn't really. The inside has a few slots and tables. Also they have a few beers. It's about $2 for bottles of domestics. They have the usual stuff like Miller Lite. As for the food, it's better than expected. It's about $2 for the Peanut Butter And Jelly Sandwich. Comes on white bread. Only complaint. Hey, whole grain is better. There's no sides with it, so that helps explain why it's one of the cheapest things on the food menu. Cool place to have some beers and get food. It's unique from most delis because this has slots, so it's also a gaming parlor. The food menu has many typical deli things such as sandwiches.

And when I tell you look no further it's in this very small town of Manteno, Darla's is the best! I have had multiple different sandwiches, including their wraps and Panini's and my son is a plain Jane and he sticks with the Swiss and turkey. The prices are reasonable! And the sandwiches are outstanding!!!

I have to give props that almost all Jimmie Johns really are the same. The same sandwich everywhere…read moreyou go. That being said, I am not rating them any differently than any other Jimmie Johns. They get three stars because they all get three stars. The only difference between this one and the other locations is the staff. Lucky for them, they are friendly and fast. But they are all friendly and fast. I will say that this location is EXCEPTIONALLY CLEAN...and that is a variable that is not always the case. I will say that the staff accommodate subtleties in my requests...lots of mayo...lots of peppers...less oil, cut on the bias (cut at a diagonal instead of straight across the sandwich).....which I just said to mess with them. Actually I just think it is weird to cut a sandwich in half, not on the diagonal. My mother would not approve. I keep hoping that WikiLeaks with tell the Jimmie Johns story and I will understand how two college students living in the UIC dorms just could not get good food, and so they started getting stoned and creating these sandwiches. And all the other dudes on the dorm floor got baked sometimes too, and starting begging them to let them buy a vito. And so the R.A. got really upset because either Jimmy or John sold them an eighth and it was like...mostly oregano from the sandwiches. And a couple other dudes got upset because either Jimmie or John was drunk peeing in the dorm showers, which just sucked and so they had to move out and start a sandwich shop because, "Dude, the college thing was just totally bogus". i will say that the culture of this particular location is staffed by young, but highly professionally acting staff who have very little or none of the "Dude factor" and that is a good difference.

Highly disappointed. Every time we order sandwiches from this location they mess up the order. Why…read morehave customization options if they just bypass them every single time? I do call them when the order is wrong and am greeted with attitude from the lady followed by "do you want us to send out a new one" and the new one arrives messed up just the same as the first! This location used to be great, it has severely gone downhill.

I would love to rate this company with a 5 star. I have been a loyal customer since 1999. Their…read moreemployees are always nice and they always seemed to value my loyalty. And they were a 5 star until they started their loyalty card program. They would have been better off without one after using the one they chose. And I have asked myself that isn't something better than nothing? Normally yes. Except now I feel cheated. When I didn't have a loyalty card, I went every day and got my fuel, (I spend $30+ a day going to and from work) and usually bought a cup of coffee or something else. About once a week, they would either give me a free cup of coffee or one at a reduced price to commend my loyalty. And what's a cup of coffee cost them? Pennies I am sure, but it wasn't the cost, it was the gesture. The feeling I was being rewarded for my loyalty. Now, they took my free cup of coffee away and they tell me I have to earn it. OK. At $30.00 a day, I figured that I could still earn my cup of coffee a week. No. Now getting one penny, yes that's .01 cent for every gallon of gas I buy, it will take me 150 gallons of gas or $600.00+ to earn a cup of coffee. In contrast, for $600.00 at shell or Kroger, I would save approximately $12.00 in my fuel costs or .60 per gallon. That equates to 8 cups of coffee. I was told that if I spent more money on tobacco or alcohol that I would earn points faster. But aren't they a gas station? It wasn't about the money before, and I guess when it all comes down to it, it's about a cup of coffee. And they took that away.
