Visited here last Sunday with my family after enjoying a bluegrass jam at the Coke Oven Museum down the road. A very unassuming and homey place but clean with friendly servers and solid, basic food at reasonable prices. Onion rings were delicious and my aunt and uncle said the burgers were good. Thank goodness we took a chance on this and thank goodness it was Friday night Catfish. A quaint and dated atmosphere took a star away from this review, not the food. Catfish was breaded nicely but what shined was the homemade sides, Bacon grease was used for flavor in my cornbread muffins and fresh turnip greens. Blackberry cobbler was amazing too. read more

Server was very unpleasent. Have the mushrooms and chili for an appetizer. Fried mushrooms overcooked and pasted Burt. The chili was definitely not homemade. Have the steak burger For dinner. Traveling through the Tennessee hills, looking for dinner, I stopped at this little modest brick building without many expectations. But I ordered the vegetable plate, and was pleasantly surprised. It's hard to screw up corn on the cob in the summer, so no points for that, but the mac & cheese was really delicious & creamy, and the turnip greens were some of the best I've ever had. Okra not quite as crisp as I would like it. But it was still very tasty. I splurged on strawberry shortcake, which was out of this world. I think one family owns this restaurant and I swear everybody in the family is working it. One of life's little gifts to the roadside traveler. By the way, the Confederate flag noticed by one earlier reviewer was nowhere in sight. read more

Great service and friendly atmosphere. Most of my family had the smoked chicken, which was great and the pinto and white beans were even better. I had the catfish with fries, hush puppies, and coleslaw--very good. Kudos for the waitress who kept our drinks full and was very attentive to our requests. Mom and grandma ate there years ago and recalled the food was good then too. We will definitely make this a stop on our travels through next time. read more

We just spent a week in Dunlap so with the few choices of food options we ate here several times. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner here at some point during our stay. I can honestly say we had no complaints about our meals at any time. The servers are fast, friendly and accurate. A few of our favorite meals were the meatloaf and the beef stew. We wanted to order chicken and dumplings one of the days and they had run out already. The place is clean, plenty of seating and clean high chairs. read more

Food was mediocre. Waitress was reasonably pleasant. Food delivery was very fast. Husband never received hush puppies, even though the lady said she would bring them. He had all you can eat catfish and the waitress didn't come back to the table once to see if he wanted more (he didn't, they weren't very good), but the "local" sitting next to us was asked three times if he wanted more. We wanted to try them again after a year absence; unfortunately, we were disappointed once more. I had the chicken pot pie which contained more dough than chicken and vegetables. My wife had the baked new potatoes and okra neither of which were up to par. The potatoes appeared to have been boiled and then baked and the okra was soggy. On a positive note, the salmon patty was very good. One out of four is not a good ratio. There are only a few restaurant choices in Dunlap and one less for us in the future. read more

We ate here for breakfast. Service was great and everyone was attentative to our needs. My husband had French toast, eggs, sausage. I had two eggs, sausage & three sides of home fries, hash browns, and sugared strawberries for my husband and I to share. He put the strawberries on top of his French toast and it was really good! The sausage tasted really good (not processed). Our only complaint was the chairs were very dirty because the two young boys bussing tables were wiping dirt off tables and it went onto chairs and they didn't clean the chairs or floor up afterwards... read more

This is my favorite restaurant in the Sequatchie Valley. They serve great home cooking like your grandmother used to make, served up fresh and hot by attentive servers. The menu has a lot of variety with numerous entrees and an extensive list of sides and deserts. Plus, did I mention that everything listed is very good? You can order an early breakfast, eat lunch, and then have dinner as late as 7:30 at night. They are open almost every day of the year. My family came in to eat when a large family came in after a funeral. I thought we would have to wait a long time for our food but they handled the crowd quickly and efficiently and the wait wasn't any longer than usual. Speaking of crowds, there are plenty of parking spaces in their recently paved parking lot. The restaurant is a popular stop off point for my family when visiting Fall Creek Falls State Park. We eat breakfast, visit the park, and then eat dinner on the way home. read more
