I have never posted on yelp before however, I thought that this is worth sharing with everyone! I served the Army for over 26 Years on active duty status and I have been deployed and on vacation in many, many places. So I wanted to take a moment to share with YOU how much we enjoyed our stay at Dunrovin. We found this place to really relax after my retirement from active duty far from any distractions, but close enough to have anything we required. We spent several months at Dunrovin "literally" and Shannon's family that owns it - is absolutely as friendly as can be.Speaking of friendly - you can bring your pets. Where can you find that these days for an extended stay? (Dunrovin!) Just a few steps from Blackduck lake our cabin was the 3 room cabin and very spacious. I ready other reviews (from the cities 3/12 hour drive) and thought our cabin was perfect! It was spacious it is a Cabin - (not a 4,000 sq ft house) and our cabin was PERFECT! It was so awesome to just get away and have no worries. I drove from Fort Hood Texas to Columbus (20 hours), Ohio to gather my belongings after retirement and drove straight to Dunrovin cabin (22 Hours) and it was well worth the multi day trip to finally arrive at this perfect location. Otherwise we would not have stayed at Dunrovin for Months! It is very quiet and several times a day you get to see a small herd of deer right off the back porch not to mention our sunrises and sunsets we're absolutely beautiful most days the position on the lake is perfect to see both of them with beautiful Skies. Don't just come in the summer try it in the winter as well just like we did there is plenty of room on Blackduck Lake for ice fishing in fact if you ask the front desk they can hook you right up. Internet never failed us and we were able to have a very nice telephone /cell signal as well (Verizon). There was a nearby grocery store and a few small restaurants but we did most of our cooking in the cabins kitchen. If you and your family or your friends want a place to enjoy yourselves then come to Dunrovin. read more

Another amazing stay at Dunrovin!!! This place rocks! I love the rustic feel of the cabins that come with modern luxuries such as DIRECTV and WiFi so you stay connected. Since my last visit, they have added a basketball court to their volleyball court and playground area. Their dock system has also been upgraded to add a ton of slips! Come in the summer and bring your boat for amazing fishing or rent one of their boats! They have also added a laundry room, so no more having to run into town for clean laundry! Yippee! Also, they allow pets!!! The owners are the nicest people! I would give Dunrovin 10 stars if I could! Please Note: This is an "up-north" resort that does not provide towels, but they do provide sheets and blankets. No towels/sheets was a new concept to me as a California / Florida girl, but it is normal for "up-north" resorts. :) Here is my 5 Star review from last year's stay (2015) that for some reason is not showing up in the recommended reviews. Sigh! "Dunrovin is an awesome get-away location. We have visited there during all seasons of the year and there is always something to do. Swimming and Fishing in the summer (on Blackduck Lake, right out the backyard or Red Lake, just a short drive away). We like to play a grown-up game of volleyball while watching the kids play on the swing set! Ice Fishing & Snowmobiling (so much fun) in the winter. We live in Florida and are not big fans of cold weather, yet this is a fantastic place to visit to enjoy the snow. Shannon & Larry are very welcoming owners. We love the lodge for the free board games you can play and the snacks they sell. Dunrovin has Wi-fi and DirecTV, so even though you stay in a rustic feeling cabin, you have all the comforts of home. We had a fantastic stay at Dunrovin! The sandy beach and water trampoline were the perfect place to spend the hot summer day. The resort offers free use of their paddle boats, kayaks, and paddle boards which were great for our big and small kids ranging in age from 3-17. The weather cooled off each evening and we enjoyed the resorts sand volleyball, lawn games, tether ball and playground set. The resort also offers rental of their pontoon boats which is a fun way to spend a day when you have lots of kids who want to go fishing! It was evident that the owners', Larry & Shannon, highest priority was to make our stay welcoming and relaxing. During our week's stay, they made a huge slip & slide down the resorts hill for all ages to enjoy and they even made their own cotton candy as a free treat for all the kids at the resort. Our family needed a week to unplug and relax and Dunrovin was the perfect place to do that. Dunrovin does offer Wifi and DirecTV in every cabin if you'd like to kick back in your cabin & relax. The cabin was a good size but it was so dirty I could hardly stand it. I don't think the cabin has had a proper cleaning in years. Not too much had been taken care of including the swimming beach which was covered with weeds that had washed up. We kept waiting for the owner to rake them up but that didn't happen. We rented a fishing boat for the whole week of our stay and even that didn't work properly. When my husband mentioned it to the owner (or whoever was filling in for the owners) he was just told to play around with the shift lever to get it to start. If they knew what was wrong with it why didn't they just fix it in the first place so people wouldn't have the problem. They sure didn't have a problem accepting the rental money for the boat even though my husband complained! We were so disappointed on so many levels that we will never go back to Dunrovin Resort or recommend it to anyone!! You can find much better elsewhere! read more

We stayed for the first time at Dunrovin Resort and was so happy with our week there! It is truly a beautiful resort and the cabins are wonderful! We stayed in cabin 11 (the biggest one that sleeps 20) and I fell in love with the kitchen especially! We had a large screened in porch and we had a perfect view of the lake and playground/beach area. The resort is super clean and well cared for. We can't wait for next year. I only wish we could get a different week but they are filled up! (that should tell ya what a great place it is). The firewood is free and you have your own fire ring. There are lots of water toys to use, free of charge and the game room is nice with free air hockey. I highly recommend this wonderful resort but good luck getting a week in the summer. We are thinking about a week in September if all goes well. read more

If you are looking for a place to spend time with your family, Dunrovin is the place for you. With fishing, tubing, swimming, volleyball, basketball, horseshoes, and bean bags you will never be bored! The grounds of the resort are kept neat. The cabins are well kept and stocked with almost everything you need. And if they don't have what you need Shannon would borrow you it if she had it! The owners are the nicest people you will ever meet! I have went there every summer since they took ownership and every year they invest more and more into the resort. We have been coming to Dunrovin for several years now. We love being able to relax in a quiet family orientated resort. My husband and father in law enjoy fishing on the lake, which they have enjoyed for 30+ years. Larry and Shannon are very sweet people that will do anything the can to make sure stay pleasurable. We have a medically complex mentally handicapped child that requires special equipment, Larry and Shannon have made accommodations to ensure our daughter has a great vacation. We loved Dunrovin resort. We stayed for several weeks while transitioning cross country. The owners are so friendly and helpful. The views from the cabins are incredible. We stayed in several and each one was beautiful. Perfect for a week or a few months. Our puppy loved the grounds and our son loved the games and amenities. We cant wait to go back for a mini trip. Absolutely the very best resort. We loved that our fur babies were welcome at Dunrovin resort. Shannon and Larry were amazing. When I needed something for dinner Shannon went into her own kitchen and gave me the missing ingredient for dinner. We loved the fact that when we checked into our cabin we found out they are Christians and where not ashamed of their love for Jesus. Our daughter had blast also playing with their children. This is my favorite place to go up north. A fun lake to fish, resort has great amenities like kayaks, paddle boards, and water trampolines. The owners even built a giant slip and slide for kids and adults. The owners are humble, kind and extremely helpful. My family has been here in the summer for a family reunion, in the fall to fish and duck hunt, and ice fishing in the winter. Each time was a great experience. read more

Dunrovin Resort STAY AWAY!!! Advertised one rate, and approved my stay.. Then Shannon decides to change the rate and demands we stay an additional night after I already paid and got my whole family excited about attending.
