STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY Had Ben from Dunsing Inspections come to do the pre-purchase inspection and did a terrible job. He identified only the most obvious faults and nothing else that a "certified" inspector should know. Being a first time home buyer, I didn't know half of these things, but am ending up paying for it by trusting this company. For example, the previous owner had replaced the bathtub with a jet tub which expanded the footprint by several inches and thereby moving it a lot closer to the toilet water fill pipe. The new proximity makes it near impossible to work on the pipe if needed, and guess how we found out? It needed to be worked on. There were other issues with the electrical that weren't caught and now we're paying for it. After those two issues, we called in another inspector. Without explaining what happened before, he caught the main two issues as well as a few other minor issues throughout the condo. The purpose of a third party inspector is for the protection of the buyer. Identifying things like a junction box that needs to be replaced is something that I can identify. An inspector that knows building code and is able to identify deficiencies is what is required. Dunsing Inspections and Ben did NOT deliver. The cost of a hiring them isn't just the $300 for the inspection, it's several thousand for things they DIDN'T catch. read more

I recently purchased a home in February of 2019 and it was big mistake to trust this company because I got the opposite of what I expected from them which cost me more problems and money than I anticipated. I hired them to inspect the house I was going to purchase, Blake Goeman was the inspector who did the home inspection. The inspector missed a hole in the structure of the chimney resulting in multiple animals coming in and infiltra the house. This was a mistake that could have been easily taken care of. Instead, Dunsing Inspections kept on denying the fault on their end and ultimately refused to cover the cost of animal removal. If you want a thorough and good home inspection, stay away from this company. They provided inadequate service and failed to give me peace of mind during the home buying process as a first time homeowner. read more

Jamie came highly recommended from somebody who worked in the ASHI offices and just purchased his own home. AKA, somebody who should REALLY know a good home inspector. I could tell from speaking with Jamie that he is a true professional. This review is several months overdue, as Jamie helped my wife and I with our home inspection back in March of 2015. The inspection was excellent - Jamie was incredibly thorough, leaving no stone unturned but also being reasonable in terms of identifying what were really critical fixes vs. nice to haves. Jamie's inspection report was also amazing - color photos organized by area/function of the house with recommendations on what needed to be done for each. When Jamie says you're a client for life he really means it. This past month we had some standing water in our basement, so we e-mailed Jamie to ask if he had any recommendations. He offered to swing by the house to check it out himself, which he promptly did and was able to identify and fix the problem (for free!) in 5 minutes, saving us hundreds of dollars and a lot of headache. Walter from Dunsing Inspections did an outstanding job. He was able to squeeze me into his schedule at the last minute, so don't be afraid to ask about near-term availability. Walter delivered a report early the next morning and walked me and my wife through each item. He answered all of our questions and was able to provide realistic estimates (he's also a contractor) for the costs of repair and replacement. We had an issue with the current owners not allowing access to the fireplaces during the 1st inspection, and Walter was able to come back out to the house a 2nd time (for a minimal additional fee) and deliver a revised report. Overall, the experience was high quality and extremely professional. The level of customer service from the rest of the company was also outstanding. This is the worst experience a first time home buyer like myself has had to deal with due to their job not being done correctly. They never went into my attic as part of the inspection. All he did was pop his head up and took a picture of the insulation paper and that was it. Never did he physically go up there to check for anything. I recently went up into my attic just to check things out and noticed a bunch of mold and everything was soaking wet. There is a huge ventilation issue that has been going on for years, if this was something I would have known I never would have bought my house. They did the inspection in February 2017 and we moved in in March. I have talked to multiple attic and mold companies about this problem and they all say this has been an on going problem for years, due to the damage it has created, not something that could have happened in such a short amount of time. If the inspector had done his job correctly and actually went up in the attic he would have noticed the problem right away. The owner of the company came out to look at the problem and doesn't want to be responsible for anything, since it's not something that can be "proved". Again, if this was something that was caught, as it SHOULD have been, I never would have purchased my house. I would HIGHLY recommend not using this company and finding one that will do there job CORRECTLY. read more
