I've now learned that when you're planning a wedding, it's crucial to hire people who think of the things you didn't know you should think of. Jessica, out of the Cheshire, CT location, is one of those people. Whether it was recommending lights for the tent or how many bathroom stalls we would need, Jessica was the constant--the one person who knew what she was doing (myself only rarely). She responded promptly to any emails and quickly revised our contract whenever necessary, up to and including the week of our wedding last October. Even though the delivery of all our rentals (tent, stalls, tables, plates, silverware, glasses) happened before my husband and I were there, it all arrived on time, was set up without a problem, and looked fantastic. The rest of the staff at our venue also said Durants was efficient and easy to work with. Based on our great experience, I presume all Durants locations offer the same quality service, but I can't recommend this one--and Jessica in particular--highly enough. read more

My husband took on the task of rentals for our wedding on 9/26/15. Stephanie from Durants was really great to work with, and provided us exactly with what we needed! Delivery and pick up had no issues at all, and all prices were fair and reasonable. We got clear Napoleon reception chairs to fit in with our Cinderella fairytale decor, pillars for our ceremony, cocktail tables, wall dividers to hide the caterer, the bar, silver sashes for ceremony chairs, and coat rack with hangers. I am having a party and I went in to discuss my options with one of the girls at a desk. She was very rude and not helpful at all. We are having a small party and only needed a certain amount of items. We didn't meet the delivery minimum and she was not helpful to even give us ideas as to what else to rent to meet the minimum. I'd assume if your a business in sales you would do anything you could to help close the deal. After a bunch of back and forth, I walked out. I rented twenty chairs last Friday from Durants in New Windsor, New York. Every single chair was filthy. Each chair had to be hand washed and dried. I went to the location and called on the phone to voice my complaint - I never heard back from the head person who was to call me back. I would give it zero stars if I could. read more

The only reason we are rating Durants Party Rental with "one Star" is that we cannot submit our review with NO STARS which we would prefer rate. My daughter, the Bride, contracted Durants Party at their Ridgefield, Ct. location months ago, to provide us with 20 chairs for her Beach Wedding August 25 in Fairfield, Ct. She made numerous telephone calls to confirm the chairs and was told we could pick them up Friday, August 24 - the day before the wedding - between 9:00am and 5:00 pm as they were closed Saturday, August 25. As I was driving to Ridgefield to pick up the chairs Friday morning, my daughter called me to state that she had contacted Durants again to tell them I was on my way and was told the chairs had yet to be delivered from their Danbury Location and could not come until after 1:00 pm but before 5:00 pm when they closed. At 4:00 pm as I was again on my way to Durants, my daughter called Durants to confirm my arrival and was told the chairs were in "horrible and unrentable condition" and therefore could not be rented. She offered the option that I drive to their Danbury location, an hour away, during the Friday night weekend rush hour, and pick up the chairs there, as long as I arrived there before 5:00 pm - their closing time. Since we had a 6:00 pm rehearsal dinner, we requested that Durants deliver the chairs Saturday, August 25 to the wedding venue in Fairfield as they had erred in meeting their responsibility, after months of planning and coordination. The Durant employee said she would discuss that with her manager and contact us before 5:00 pm. We have had no communication from Durants and despite their incompetence and ineptitude, we had a beautiful beach wedding without, I might add, chairs. Durants has offered no apology or compensation. We could never recommend them for anything and as I mentioned earlier, we would rate NO STARS if this rating software allowed us to submit it that way. Rented tables, chairs, inflatable & tents weeks before event. Tables & chairs delivered at 9PM the evening before party. Tent & inflatable arrived two hours before party, even though was promised all would be delivered & set up 24 hours before event. Keep in mind - you're paying extra for delivery and set up. Had to go to store at 9AM to beg them to fulfill their obligations. Numerous un-returned phone calls. 20% refund promised, not fulfilled until nasty-gram was sent to Owner & Danbury Manager. Apologies ten fold at that point with Owner claiming that staff "learned a lot from our very negative experience." Only time will tell. RENTER BEWARE: According to previous posts (also see posts re: their Wappingers location) - there is a history here of horrendous customer service and down-to-the-wire delivery. read more

Working with Durant's was a pleasant experience UNTIL they received our final payment for our Wedding Day rental. They were responsive, informative and helpful with choosing the appropriate size of our dance floor and tent and all other aspects of our rental needs. Upon final payment all communication went out the window. From day one we received confirmation that all of our order would be delivered two days prior to our event. We made arrangements to be in town for the delivery of our tent and rental items (tables, chairs, etc.). The tent arrived and was set up by midafternoon on the day everything was scheduled to arrive. We proceeded to wait the remainder of the day for the rest of the order, which ultimately never arrived. We called numerous times throughout the day trying to figure out where our order was, and we got the run around every time, but they kept telling us they did see all of the communication and notes in our file stating that everything would be delivered the same day. We finally got a hold of the Manager who proceeded to tell us that the two parts of the order never get delivered on the same day, and that something that they didn't do. She also stated that she did not see any communication or notes stating same day delivery despite them seeing it in previous phone calls. After a long run around and a lot of arguing she ended up agreeing to refund us the delivery fee for our inconvenience and admitted to their mistake. She then told us we were the first delivery the next day but refused to give any other information about when the items would arrive. The next morning around 10:30 am the rest of our rental items arrived and the condition of the chairs when they finally arrived was horrendous. They were covered in a thick layer of dust and not ready to immediately host our guests. We ended up having to individually wipe down each of the 250 chairs so that they could be used. We pointed this out to the Manager in an email and she has yet to acknowledge the poor quality of their product even now a month removed. Two weeks post incident we still had not received a refund of the delivery fee and when I contacted her regarding it she refunded the improper amount, which eventually she corrected. It was a tremendous headache to an otherwise perfect day. We would advise anyone we know to not work with them. If anything, go to them for all of the planning and figure out what you want and then find another company to purchase it all from. read more

worst place I have ever been to almost ruined my sons 8th birthday. the manager was literally the meanest rudest nastiest human I have ever met in my life. They tried to tell me that delivery for 2 inflatables would be over 700 bc their guys had worked too much that week and I have to get the 400+lb inflatables myself. I called 4 times to confirm my order but had no faith so went to the location two days prior to party the day they were supposed to be brought out from warehouse and they had the wrong ones. If I hadn't checked my sons party would have been ruined. I had borrowed a friends truck and they weren't ready for pickup had to inconvenience a friend for his truck twice. the manager refused to help me on price after huge mix up and inconvenience and kept ignoring me and shoving cred card machine in my face. I have never had such horrible customer service in any place I have ever been to from mcdonalds to target I have never experienced such a rude human. I don't know how she has a job. My Fiancé & I started our venue search like most couples do when they want to get married. Unfortunately we left our first venue appt. (4hrs later) with me in tears, it was all downhill from there. We were frustrated and disappointed, not at all the special, happy and exciting time we were expecting to have when trying to find the perfect place for us to get married. Here's where Durants comes in :) My sister-in-law said "you guys have the space and a beautiful backyard why don't you rent (she had suggested Durants because she's used them before) a tent and have your wedding at your place!" That's exactly what we did!!! I worked with Shayna, (Danbury Location) she is such a doll! Our first meeting with her was over 2hrs, because we had no idea about the cost of stuff or even what was possible. Shayna asked us questions about the look and feel we wanted and answered many of our questions and the ones she couldn't answer she told us she'd get back to us and she did, every time in a timely manner!!! This review would be 5 pages long if I mentioned everything Shayna did and she did it all so graciously! Even on my wedding day I came in (our wedding was later in the evening) still she was like "aren't you getting married today?" I said yes and then showed her the organza table coverings and told her I thought I could live w/this color but I can't! Immediately she went to find me something else and she did, it was beautiful and looked amazing on our tables and in the photo's! Ohh yea on the day before our wedding I wanted cloth napkins in burgundy,(I had paper ones but as we were setting up we thought cloth would look more elegant) called Shayna and she said let me see what we have and sure enough I was able to go and pick up 80 beautiful burgundy napkins! Yes it was more involved work than going w/a venue like a hotel or hall because you have to pick out everything from silverware to lighting but it was all worth it in the end because we got the date we wanted, we had as little or as many guest as we wanted, and we worked w/some very wonderful people who responded to our questions and concerns promptly! I will use Durants again in the future whether for something grand or a smaller affair, the people are professional and efficient at their jobs!
