His office staff was very nice and easy to work with. His hygienist Hannah was phenomenal. Here is my problem, in those 7 years, Dr. Nelson repeatedly found cavities. I had fillings on multiple teeth at least 4 times. I never questioned it. My last visit with Dr. Nelson was right before I moved out of Durham, he said he had found more cavities that needed to be filled. I went to a new dentist when I moved to get it addressed and he said I had no cavities. I went back to my childhood dentist for a third opinion and he also found no cavities. In the seven years since I left Dr. Nelson, I have seen 5 different dentists and no one has found a single cavity. So I have a mouth full of fillings that I suspect was never needed. That makes me sad.

However I don't recall ever making an appointment, especially since I just received a text, letting me know I should call the office to make an appointment and I hadn't done so yet. While on the phone I decided to make an appointment for the following Friday at 2pm. The office called to confirm my appointment the following week before appointment. The morning of the appointment at 10am they called again asking if I could come earlier. I asked what time the receptionist said 11:30 seeing as though I was just waking up that was not going to work. She explained they only had one dental assistant and asked if 1 o'clock could work . And if not it was ok. However I agreed to coming in at 1. I showed up 10 minutes before the appointment only to find the door locked. I figured maybe the staff was on lunch so waited in my car. However when I walked back to the door at 1, it was still locked so I called the number and no one answered. I even decided to wait an extra 10 minutes. No one ever came to the door, and no one ever followed up with me after and it's almost been a week later. I understand everyone desires to get off early on weekends or an emergency may have occurred, however as a client/patient. This type of service is unacceptable. Especially after I accommodated with such short notice.
