Cute boat, cool captain and crew, and a calm day. It was a wonderful, informative, and relaxing time. It's truly a great experience to leave the city behind and head up the Hudson to see eagles and greenery. I love industrial things, like scrap yards and power plants and it was good to see that too. Recommend you go straight up to the top deck for the best experience. Middle deck has enclosed tables and chairs and the food and beverage bar. We had a great time today on the Hudson River sightseeing tour. While it's not the most exciting activity, it was just as advertised - a wonderful narration of the nature, industrial factors, and beautiful houses along the Hudson waterway. The check-in process was easy, and the staff was quite friendly. We got to see eagles, ducks and other wildlife, along with a lot of the industrial aspects of the greater Albany area. There are three levels of the boat to experience this activity, it's accessible for all types of weather events. Bathrooms are clean, staff is great, the refreshments were plentiful and of high quality and this is a reasonably priced activity. I would highly recommend. read more

We had a nice tour. The bar and food options were more impressive than any other boat tour we've done. They had root beer floats and adult root beer floats with a full bar of alcohol choices. They also had donuts, burgers, etc. The staff was great! Super friendly and very attentive, they came around delivering food and collecting trays and trash. There are tables and chairs outside on the top deck, but they filled up fast from a private group that was let on the boat first. The tour guide was knowledgeable of the area, as one should be as a guide. She also had a strong love and interest for the area that came thru in the information she shared. read more

Very nice tour on a super windy day. It was nice to see Upstate's natural scenery. The sail was smooth, although the winds were high. It was a nice mixture of guests aboard. The price per person is $35 for a 90 minute sail. They offer a full bar and snacks for purchase while cruising. Drinks weren't worth it to me and the shots were not my favorite. Look, we can't all own a cool boat, but we can all borrow the experience for a bit by going on the Dutch Apple. I have been going on Dutch Apple cruises for a long time... over ten years. I usually go multiple times a summer, and I am never disappointed. I love their daytime sightseeing cruises. I've been listening to these stories about the area for years, yet I often learn something new. It's very cool how dedicated the guides are to sharing what they know, and obvious they continue to learn themselves. They're also great at pointing out wildlife, and it's very common to see bald eagles, which is cool. There are different spots people can sit. (I'm all about under the awning on the top deck to protect my pasty self and hear the guide the best, but the middle deck or lower deck all have their pluses, too, and I'm never disappointed regardless of where I end up.) I also enjoy the sunset cruises, which are less frequent but a great vibe. Now that I am a mama, these are hard for me to get to, but one day I'll be back, haha. I used to like the party cruises back in the day too, but again: I'm a mama, they're hard to get to. The owners are super nice and take care of their customers and their boat. It's obvious that they pay attention to the details of the experience, which I appreciate. They have a great drink menu and food and snack options. My friends ordered burgers on a recent cruise and said they were really good, but I'm an early lunch person so I'll probably never know, haha. read more

Really nice staff and captain!! The crew was helpful and bought food our.. drinks as we ordered them. The tour guide was super friendly as we sailed down the river and back., the captain welcomes our little kids to help sail the boat when it was time to ride back up the river. My girlfriend and I went there on a Friday night. Overall, the experience was ok. The boat was small so if you don't show up and get in line 30 minutes before it boards you will not find a good seat. The food was ok, expensive but not horrible. Drinks were reasonably priced as well. The band that played was alright, however throughout the boat, the speakers only played the singers voice and no music, and it was quite loud. The speakers drowned out any sort of conversation you were trying to have with anyone. Albany it self is not a nice place to see from the water but the cruise it self was ok. I would recommend the Lake George cruises instead for the same price. read more

We took this cruise on a beautiful early fall September afternoon. The cruise was well organized, the service was outstanding, and the historical description was well put together and interesting. Albany has a lot of history! That said, the waterfront is pretty industrial but not really beautiful. South of the city is beautiful countryside. But compared to other river cruises we've been on (DC, Boston, New Orleans, Shanghai, ...), Albany has less of a "wow" factor. We definitely enjoyed it! read more

We were looking for something different to do and our friend suggested we do a cruise it was rainy so it was only the four of us and another couple on the cruise but that didn't matter they still have they still gave us the whole experience. The guide was very informative she knew the answers To just about any question you could throw at her including things I have no idea...there's a spot on the Hudson that has wild seahorse!!! She's very passionate about birds and will point out all wild life she sees. It's a fun little cruise they have a full bar and great selection of beer on board including some snacks. I went on a Dutch Apple dinner cruise a couple of weeks ago for an outing with my co-workers and people that work in the same building as we do. It wasn't bad but the cruise just kept going in circles around terrible areas of Albany and Troy. "Oh, look over there, there's more trees and big sand dunes." Very anti-climactic. Everything was overpriced on-board because if you're forced to be there for four hours, of course you're going to buy something! The only things they claimed they served were hot dogs, ice cream and alcohol. Hot dogs were $2. Ice cream was non-existent but also overpriced. The drinks were average (around $4-5) if you got beer or rum and coke...but buying a mixed, fruity drink was double. If you pay by credit card or debit card, they put up a tab for you and you have to deal with that when you get off the boat since they can't do plastic transactions onboard. read more

Very disappointing. So not worth the money!!! Too expensive and too lame. The sightseeing is comprised of lots of industrial piles and old oil tanks. A few nice houses. Took an evening cruise with the Dutch Apple for a special Hops and History cruise. The brewing history of the Capital Region is very interesting and this cruise highlighted that. It was a pleasant and informative evening. Beer was provided by Fort Orange Brewing. Please continue the beer themed cruises! Lived in the area all my life and first time on the Dutch Apple. I think the beautiful weather greatly enhanced my experience. It was a nice time and I would probably do it again. Tour guide provides interesting facts. I saw some things I had never seen before. The history of some of the homes is amazing. Of course the drinks are over priced and not good, but that is to be expected. I'm not sure I would do a dinner cruise, but the 1 1/2 hour sightseeing is a nice way to spend some time with friends. read more

Really cool small family business, The staff is very friendly, great cruises for meeting people or just enjoying the sights on the river.. They really have cruises for all ages and all occasions, be it a historical afternoon sightseeing cruise or a night cruise with live music. The boat has plenty of room to spread out but is also way more intimate than the huge captain JP upriver. The staff really go out of their way to help set up if you are having a private charter/ wedding, my cousin got married on the boat last summer and they helped carry on all of the food & set up everything exactly how my cousin wanted it. It's really nice to see a small business that hasn't lost sight of the customer. Really great bloody mary's too!! read more
