Show started at 7:30pm - we arrived at 5:40pm (doors open at 6pm) but was seated as soon as we arrived. Food was hot and fresh - the server was friendly but not attentive. Theatre was warm but I honestly think it was due to the sell out crowd. Due to the table set up - you felt close to everyone around you. It doesn't make sense that the tables do not face the stage - it makes it uncomfortable. We were seated with ppl not in our party - they were friendly but not enough space. The play was great - live music was a fun edition. Overall a good experience and will definitely come again. We will just be more strategic where we sit. read more

We went to see Buddy, based on the story of Buddy Holly. The show was amazing! The food was standard buffet. I wasn't a fan of the hot food, but the salad bar and deserts were nice. Book early, if you don't want to have to share a table with someone else. Otherwise, you will. Also, the demographic is an older crowd. I am in my 50s, and felt like a spring chicken. Not that it matters, just for informational purposes only. I did not have one word with our server, yet we had to fill out a survey and of course, leave a tip. What an amazing time! This theater easily is the best regional I have ever seen. I honestly did not feel like I was watching a regional theater production. I have seen a lot of regional Theatre and this just takes the cake, literally of course, because I had cake for dessert! My wife reminisced has when this production was briefly on Broadway and she said it looked and sounded exactly the same! The energy from the performers, music, the sets, the use of projections, and everything else about this production of Buddy was fabulous! I honestly am a huge theater snob and I'm not ashamed to admit it. This theater though showed me that they can be Broadway like regional Theatre in the place where you at would least expect it. Now, with any review comes a little bit of negative. I took the package deal with the Heritage hotel. I appreciate the convenience of walking to the theater in one minute, but the hotel is in severe need of renovating. There are signs that they are renovating and I was told that they are so I am sure once it's done, it will get the TLC it needs. Also, it was nice that they gave you a breakfast buffet at the hotel the next morning with the package, but unfortunately, the food was a huge letdown. We were so hungry after the bad breakfast that we went to Arby's. As for the food in the theater, it was okay. To save money, they recently did away with the prime rib, carving station. I do not agree with that, but if we want them to stay around, I guess they have to do this. The salad bar was very impressive as was the dessert tables, including the ice cream area. There is definitely enough of a variety of food to tickle anyone's palette. It's just unfortunate that some of the food was bland but still edible. I look forward to returning to this theater and seeing some other shows, and I especially like the fact that the menu changes for every show. Hopefully, the Hotel renovations won't take long, and hopefully they will improve the awful breakfast buffet. On a sidenote, I don't think it was fair to have one server doing the entire breakfast buffet by herself she was overworked and running around like crazy. Some other reviews mentioned the small table space. I disagree with that as we were at a table of four and had plenty of room, even with two other people sitting across from us. I wish I could remember the waiter's name, but he was absolutely phenomenal! He assured that we had constant iced tea and water refills and as soon as intermission came, he was out with more. We have been season ticket holders for years, with another couple. We have wonderful seats, enjoy the food and service, and always enjoy the show. I feel that I must comment on their current play, Fiddler on the Roof. I haven't seen it for many years, but I cried like I always do near the end. The cast was excellent, with beautiful choreography. However, Jacob Medich (Teyve) was phenomenal! His expressions, his eyes, his gestures, all made you love Teyve. He cried, he laughed, he IS Teyve. Was a little confusing in the parking lot finding it. Entrance is the same as a large restaurant on lower part of the hill while this place was up the hill. An inviting lobby, nice Theatre interior. Positive friendly staff. Waite staff is fast and they seem to help each other move the meal along to be ready by the time the show starts. The food was of a general quality. If you enjoy live theater with fun shows along with plenty of food choices, then you will enjoy yourself here. Most of the time, they offer a buffet, but they also have sit-down service. It just depends on what you prefer. Plenty of time for dinner, dessert before the show starts, but it does go fast as you get soup, then salad, entree, and dessert. You can look up the menu online before you go. It changes, I believe, monthly. Here is one example of dinner at a sit-down meal. Plenty of friendly staff, buy tickets early for best seating. There is an intermission, so you can move around and use the restrooms if needed. You can't really do so during a show. Plenty of parking too. read more

My mom treated me to Saturday Night Fever while we were in town for an event at Sight and Sound. The performance was wonderful! The actors were extremely talented and the guy who portrayed Tony Manero (John Travolta's character) even resembled a young Travolta. Mom and I were part of a tour with her senior center (see what a great daughter I am?!). The staff are probably used to large groups like this, but I was still appreciative of their attentiveness and patience with this group of older ladies. The only complaint I have is that we were really crammed in there. There are probably two too many seats at each table and one or two too many tables in each row. I understand the desire to fit in as many people as possible, but it would be much more comfortable if they could space things out a little bit. That said, the seats were comfortable enough to sit in through the dinner and the entire show. The buffet was a nice spread of greens, meats, and sides. There were two large tables of pies and cakes (including what I suspect are some local favorites - like shoo fly pie). I was quite impressed with the dinner. I tried to stay keto, but definitely enjoyed a couple of bites of some pie. If I lived closer, I'd definitely make Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre one of my regular GNO spots. read more

What a lovely little theater and a great place to spend a Sunday afternoon in Lancaster. We did the after show (started at 1pm) of Saturday night Fever. Buy your tickets online so you know you have seats and note hat you can switch views for the seat map and pick your own seats. They have ample parking in their own lot as well. For our show - we were asked to arrive I. Advance - 11:30 to eat. They do a buffet of salad, bread and hot foods (need,eggplant, veggies etc). You can go back up if you wanted a little more of something - but they do shut it down so folks are not distracted when the show is on. There is also desserts available - cake, pie and ice cream (Turkey Hill - yum!). All in all ... we were there for about 3 1/2 to 4 hours and had a great time! Tried to get tickets to see Elf near the holidays .. but already have very limited seats. read more

I've been to many of Dutch Apples shows and there has not been one bad show ever. They are all amazing! We always go to the shows in the evening, and we are never disappointed. It's very fun and enjoyable to eat dinner, and then sit back and relax and enjoy the show! The prime rib is my favorite, but there are many other options at the buffet to choose from! The dessert options are great as well; the chocolate cake is my personal favorite, but my family really enjoys the coconut cake as well. The actors performances are so good everytime! Highly recommend this theatre! Broadway caliber shows in the heart of Amish country, close to NY and Gettysburg. We most recently saw The Sound of Music, but have traveled to see many shows here. The casts are always top notch, and this musical joyfully paid homage to the movie with happy, creative surprises. I love the coconut cake and the service is personal and welcoming. When we left the theatre we were thanked for coming. I recommend getting tickets first before getting any hotel accommodations, because tour buses come from all over to see these shows. We've sat in many different seats over the years and have never been disappointed. read more

Love, love, love this theater!!! You can not beat a live show with a smorgasbord dinner that has so many choices. It was my first time seeing a show here after hearing about my sister raving about how great this place was and how amazing the food is as well. She was telling me how its a live show and before the show starts you have about an hour and a half to browse the smorgasbord and pick through the turkey, roast beef, mash potatoes, and cakes, ice cream and pies before you see the show. This theater is also kid friendly and I was able to enjoy it with my daughter. I was surprising my daughter with this night and we ended up seeing A Christmas Carol, a few days before Christmas. I had gone with a party of 10 and we were seated next to each other at two tables that were side to side. We had about 4 young children with us and to my surprise they had also enjoyed the show. When it comes to the food, I would say it was the best food Ive had in Lancaster!! The food was so fresh and hot and there was even a carving station with beef brisket and pork! There was a huge selection of sides, and they had kid friendly items like chicken nuggets which was also a plus!! Cause some of the kids in our group were picky. This may be my new spot when it comes to dinner and a show because I enjoyed this experience so much! I will be returning in June for my 36th birthday with my daughter and sister to see Annie. We have been here a few times. The shows are always very entertaining and of a good quality. The food however is not very good. The carved beef was very dry and hard to chew. Travelled to Lancaster for the show. We saw Guys and Dolls. I pretty sure we were near the beginning of the run. There was chemistry between the leads but unfortunately, the lines were read as memorized speeches, not really dialogue between characters. The sets, costumes, choreography, and staging were excellent. The pit was good too. The singing was great nearly all around. Well be back for another show. The buffet was great. The pasta was not overdone. The prime was cooked perfectly and the chef slicing knew what she was doing. The produce was fresh. The desserts were varied and Lancaster traditional. Came here for my daughter's birthday last week to watch the Beauty and the Beast performance. The food was, eh. Not the greatest. Actually not really good at all. It's a buffet. They had cheese ravioli, fish, ham, fried chicken, prime rib, broccoli, rolls...that's mainly what I remembered. The chicken was really weird. The piece my husband decided to put on my daughter's plate was, no lie, shaped like a ball. I didn't finish anything on my plate. They also had desserts, but I didn't even bother tasting them. The best thing I had was the Pinot Nior, which cost extra. The food was, eh, but the service was great. They kept our glasses full (water and wine.) They came by and picked up the dirty plates pretty regularly. What caught me really off guard, there was a stranger sitting at our table. Him and his wife decided last minute to come, so they sat him at our table and his wife at the table behind us. I was not thrilled about this. ESPECIALLY during covid! I mean, they had a sign on their front door saying to social distance...I'd hardly call this social distancing when my husband is rubbing elbows with a stranger because the Theater decided to sit him at our table. I didn't see anywhere on their website where it said this could happen. I mean, we were at a 4 top table...it was my family of 3 and a stranger. Really awkward. The play was phenomenal, the only saving grace of the night. We all enjoyed it, as this was my daughter's 1st play. It was really engaging. Loved all the songs! There were added songs which we really enjoyed too. If we were ever to come again, we would just come for the performance and not eat. If I could rate the performance alone, I would give it 5 stars...but the food was just so terrible and they did not follow covid protocols by sitting a total stranger at our table. FYI...If you're coming for a special occasion (birthday, anniversary, graduation etc) you can let them know and they will include this in their announcements before the play starts. First time here. We booked online. Our first choice of a two-seat table wasn't available, so we were stuck sharing a table for four. And I mean stuck. The tables were so tight. My wife and I kept bumping elbows. There was a table to the left of us ,on another level, with the people hanging over the rail and over our table. The people who sat with us weren't into conversing much, making it awkward with all 4 of us sitting there for an hour and a half, before the show started. Out table mates were younger than most of the other patrons there and younger people just don't know how to talk. Blame social media. The show Margaritaville was cute. A little slow toward the end but enjoyable. The food disgusting. Except for the deserts. They were fantastic. I would recommend eating desert first. Food was buffet style or sit down. We did buffet. I really wasn't expecting backyard cookout food. Ribs, corn, fried chicken etc. Making things messy and I didn't bring any floss! The other items were disappointing. The prime rib was tasteless. The cod, sitting in butter, gross. Soup OK. The dinner rolls were very good. Sooo. They did have a salad bar as well. Excellent performance! We went to see Newsies. The production was fantastic. Performers were very talented. Live musicians which I was surprised about it. Easy entrance experience. Server was very attentive. Leaving the parking lot after the show was a little stressful but expected. I cannot comment on the food as we didn't eat. Buffets are not our thing. I was there on 12/14 for a matinee of a Christmas Carol. The restaurant is too small and too many tables are crowded into a very small dining area. The buffet line cuts directly into where people are entering for the event so that there is no smooth flow for the diners trying to navigate to and from the buffet. Very poor setup and the venue needs an expansion to accommodate the crowds. Show was good. The food was mediocre and they were cheap with the cod and shrimp. Shrimp were in tiny cut up pieces instead of a whole shrimp. How greedy for $75.00 per person! Will not return! read more

Was in town for a weekend getaway. Saw the Savannah Sipping Society. Loved the show, great premise and the actresses were very good. I really got attached to them and their stories. Service was good. Deb was our server and she was great. Very personable, kind and friendly. Food on the other hand was not very good at all. I enjoyed the seafood salad and the honey glazed carrots. I have been here a total of 4 visits so far, and have been amazed each time. The buffet is great for what it is worth, and I always enjoy tasting new desserts that I have never encountered prior. There is absolutely no bad seat in the house and no one blocks your view either, which is essential. The productions are always perfect and sometimes I have felt that I prefer this establishment's more than if I had seen them previously elsewhere. Holiday Inn - New Years Eve Traveling to Dutch Apple Dinner Theatre, at night, is very difficult going on 30 W. It is dark, there are forks, you really have to follow the signs or end up on 30 E or elsewhere. Upon getting there you have to make a quick right and get into the left lane and then just before the gas station make a left across traffic up a hilly side street. It can be dangerous and stressful until you get there. Once there it is very nice. There is a smorgasbord buffet with a variety of items as chicken and pork, vegetables and salad and of course dessert with or without ice cream. The table placements are well arranged and the staff does what they can to assist requests as for example brown meat that is too rare on the plate. Liquor drinks are served for a fee as is Pepsi at 2.50 or so a glass. Acting and performers has always been done well. Though the jokes could be tuned up from the MCs. They give a run of what shows are coming up and then the show starts. Interesting how they adapt the scenery and simple but adequate costumes. There had been a movie with the same name and storyline, called The Holiday Inn, with Bing Crosby and Fred Astaire. But for me, it was a fresh story. I liked the effects of the adapted incorporated black and white film version. It was nice to watch something not only on live stage, and something so rare these days, with a happy ending. Around 11:30 pm they came around with hats and noisemakers. Ok, so we are not children, but the whole effect of having hats and noisemakers, can be fun; but was not, because they did not have enough hats to evenly go around and then it's an issue who gets and who doesn't. In the past they had balloons and confetti and since, have done away with it. The least they could have done was check the count of men and women and made effort to purchase enough to go around. For goodness sakes. Had I known, I would have brought my own. So one less star for whoever didn't address purchase properly. Oddly enough 30 E once you're out and find the entrance becomes an easier straight away back. While we are glad we went, whether we go back again next year or not, I may search out a new venture for next time. read more
