A friend recommended Patton's Steel in Irwindale. I inquired via email, and a person named Cody Robinson got right back to me the next day. He gave me a quote for a steel 12-ft piece of 11-gauge square tubing 1.5 in x 1.5 in x12 ft. I had looked at other places, but the prices were crazy, and to have it delivered was, in some cases hundreds, of dollars. I had a few more questions, and Cody answered them promptly. He made me feel very comfortable working with their company. He stated that the product would be on will call for me at the Ontario location which was great because it was on my way home from Fontana. I let him know that I had Thursday off so I would pick it up then, and he said no problem just go to the front desk. I did just that and within about 10 minutes I had a 12-ft square tubing made of steel at my disposal. I really didn't need 12 ft, so I asked them if they could cut it to 10 and I didn't need the scrap. The person with whom I delt, said that was not a problem he took it and cut it to a 10 ft length--perfect. The staff knew their product well and it was very nice to deal with people that knew exactly where product is and how to get it to the customers in a timely manner. Now the Ontario location is a retail location, so I thought it might be more expensive, but I was wrong. Out the door the price was $54.38. I brought $54.40 thinking they wouldn't have pennies, but much to my surprise they did have change and I got two pennies back, I guess two cents for my thoughts hahaha.. This location, has all kinds of tubing, posts, solid and hollow, whether they be square cornered, round, long or short. I was amazed at the selection that they had. If you have need to make a brace for a tree or need to make a cage or tubing for some reason, this is the place to go.

It is very hard to find an honest trustworthy mechanic that you can trust. This shop has great mechanics that know what they are doing with your car, won't upsell you on things you don't need and will give you a fair price. I needed some major work done on my car but Eric was able to do a "temporary fix" until I get enough money to fully fix my issue. This shop has been here for almost 40 years. Family owned and a trusted mechanic shop in the community. Their lobby is super clean, comfortable and modern. You could chill here the entire time if you needed be to do work on your laptop, get a snack in their vending machine, grab some coffee and watch TV. They were so efficient they had my car ready in half a day. And a BONUS: They provided me a ride to and from work so I didn't need to get my own Uber or bother a friend or family member to pick me up and drop me off. Chino Autotech arranged my ride. Will definitely be back to get my car full fixed when it is time!

I was a bit bummed, but they assured me the welding shop was one of the best. Eric reported back to me and said the weld was successful but the head started to open up after another pressure test. They just charged me for the pressure test and not the weld. Steve and Eric were really helpful and honest. They could've thrown everything back together and polished it to make it look nice and collected a nice sum from me, but they didn't! I ended up purchasing a newer performance head and told them I'd go back to them for any other machining I need done.

I can't imagine anyone saying anything negative about Russ and Eric at Steve's Machine…read more I had them do a VW 2332cc engine for my desert car. The way it knocked and with little to no oil pressure, I figured it was junk. Russ took it apart and assed the damage. In his opinion it wasn't nearly as bad as I expected, and I was ready for the worst. He installed a new crank, fit new main and rod bearings with new rings and a valve grind. I had a practically new motor at less than half the price of a new. Three years of abuse later, it's still running strong and doesn't leak a drop. That gave me the confidence to have them build a Pontiac 462ci for my 67 GTO/Le Mans. At his shop, Russ sat down with me over a cup of coffee and gave me his full attention. We discussed my new build, and he gave me his opinion about some of my choices with really good reasoning. Some of his ideas gave me more performance at little to no extra cost. He saved me money on unnecessary over building, while also advising on weak areas. During the build he showed me on my engine, extra things he does on all motors. Shimming lifters, spec'ing ARP bolts, dialing the valve train, and milling the intake manifold to name a few. He doesn't cut corners; I don't think his conscious would let him. Once it was done, they broke it in on their shop dyno. They optimized the timing and fuel curve. It made 419hp @ 4800 rpm and 513 ft/lbs. torque @ 4000 rpm. It's ready to rumble. I go out of my way to recommended them, every chance I get. And for what I got, the pricing was more than fair and reasonable. Nothing but a positive experience. Also, sometimes if you want the best, you have to get in line and wait. That's life!

Called around so many places and all said they couldn't do the work of replacing a bushing for my car, and that I would have to replace the whole unit since it would be cheaper (it isn't). He was busy and the first minute or so was him speaking with a person and not sounding like he was in a good mood so I apologized since it sounded like bad timing when he finally greeted me and took my call. I understand things can get quite hectic and the time isn't always right but either don't answer the call or immediately ask to give them a call back. He allowed me to proceed for a QUICK second, literally... explaining we found him on google, he cut me off and said he's not interested and hung up. Not even 5 seconds of listening! I was appalled. I didn't even get to explain what work we needed.... he blatantly just cut me off and rejected work. WHAT COMPANY REJECTS WORK?? We're an industrial company that could have potentially been returning customers time and time again with all the routine work on our equipment, not to mention rave about it to the other sub divisions within who could also keep them in mind for the future? Extremely disappointed, unprofessional and I still can't believe this. They don't deserve new cliental. DON'T BOTHER.

As soon as it was ready, he notified me and shipped it out to me at no extra cost on top of the invoice price! Great service!
