For example, the Chicken Pozole $15/qt- can be purchased at room temp or frozen. The frozen option is fantastic for a quick easy meal on hand- can be defrosted quickly or during the day in the fridge. My parents are obsessed with the pozole from el mitote- but my mom likes to modify hers as white meat only which they often cannot do. They were very happy when I introduced them to Knoll Krest Farm's Pozole- they reported back that it was flavorful and had a TON of white meat chicken. It's also reasonably priced. The other soups they had that day were a vegetable soup and I believe a chicken noodle.

The market is named after Richard Tucker the Opera singer. The nearby park is a comfortable place to rest after you shop. This area is great for visitors to Lincoln Center and the nearby American Folk Art Museum. I'm going back soon since I still have friends living in the neighborhood. She went back and forth and argued that my card was bad. Another employee came and the store manager lady came, who cut me off in a disrespectful manner, while I tried to explain to her that I was the one pointing out to the cashier, that she must have made a mistake and entered the wrong amount. I saved the store $60 and they acted as if I wanted to only pay $1.39 and get away with it or my card was bad. I was concerned to swipe the card again for the remaining $60, because I did not want to be charged twice, in case I was actually charged the full amount. We got into an argument. I asked the cashier lady to apologize but she ignored me and did not say a word. I used to shop here all the time. But they lost a costumer today.

It has a fun and lively vibe with a mix of vintage items, handmade crafts, jewelry, artwork, clothing, collectibles, and food stands all in one place. What we liked most was how easy it was to spend a few hours just walking around and exploring different local vendors and small businesses. The market feels very New York, with lots of unique finds and creative products you do not usually see in regular stores.

And there's a Pearl River Mart and other places to find gifts and souvenirs. My favorite of this ilk is Muji Market, which has all the Japanese amazing things! Also of note: very clean bathrooms. It reminds me of the bathrooms at Grand Central, a lot of stalls, sinks in the center, only much, much more pleasant. I'll be back as soon as I can. It's silly that I didn't come here when I actually lived in New York.

Wanted to highlight a few more stores here for this review: - Moon Man Foods: a Brooklyn-based company, they have a small stand about a third of the way thru the market (walking east to west), selling southeast Asian kaya jam, which is coconut-based and contain eggs, coconut milk, sugar, starch, and salt. They come in pandan, ube, and Java palm sugar (aka gula melaka) flavors. - Pearl River Mart and Pearl River Mart Foods: back in the day they used to be located in SoHo on Broadway, though rising rents made them relocate, and I'm glad they're still around! They carry all sorts of Asian-inspired decor, serving ware, stationery, and their "Foods" location downstairs is combination of Asian grocery, bubble tea (Milk & Tea), and Korean and Chinese snack/takeout stands (Kimbap Lab and Mao's Bao's). - Muji Market: this is a smaller location that carries a narrower assortment than your average Muji (house wares, basic apparel, accessories, kitchenware, snacks), though they have a full cafe serving coffee and matcha, simple Japanese lunch items like bowls, sandwiches and bento. Cafe prices seem a little higher probably due to the location. - gallery art: there is a small whitewashed hallway gallery of maybe a couple dozen small pieces by local artists, featuring NYC-centric photos, sketches, paintings, multi-media. About half the store is dedicated to prepared foods--on the left are chilled and packaged desserts, on the right are warm and cold mains, salads, cheese and charcuterie, sides, sushi, convenient packaged foods (crackers, breads, candies, snacks). Toward the middle of the store are a few aisles of jarred, canned, dried goods, teas and coffee sachets, condiments and spices. Towards the south side of the store is a butcher counter, more prepared chilled foods, salads, wraps, chilled bottled drinks, followed by the fresh produce area. At the front of the store are a few registers you check out. They keep the store very clean and tidy, the shelves are well-stocked. Staff are friendly and on point. The food selections are good quality and you also pay a premium since it's UES after all.
